Very true. Both Torres and Gerrard were getting the ball 'near' the goal this morning...

For a defence that was disorganised most of the time they did pretty well to restrict Perennial strugglers Liverpool to no shots on goal in the second half. Great result!! Thought Mills and Karacan played really well.

Looks like Rafael Van der Vaart & Maxi Rodriguez might be coming in on loan. Both classy players that have lost their way a little. But VdV has been starting for Real while Kaka' has been out but not sure where he will fit in with Aquilani now back to fitness. Suppose we need squad depth.

Beat Reading and we've got Burnley that wont be no easy task anyway the scum are out.

Well, they wouldn't get the full 140M.  But it's hard to see an offer that big being refused.

New shirts??

Dossena looks to be on his way out 5m, so a bit of money for a player well out of contention for playing time, behind Auerlio & Insua.

Shirts look ok, they will be something along those lines. Not too much change to our tops really, other than collars and some key lines.

Good to see Dossena and Voronin on their way. I thought Rafa should have taken the 9mil offer for Babel from Birmingham too. I can't see too many bigger offers coming in. As for Torres, thought that was an April fools prank for a second... I can't see him wanting to go to Citeh or any of those other poofta clubs.

Doubt Torres would leave..although if we do continue to miss out on Champs league I am sure he would think about it. Glad to see Voronin and Dossena leave. Babel to follow maybe? Bring in Maxi Rodriguez?

Glad Voro is gone! Bring in Maxi. Great player, who can't get into a terrible Atleti team... yay.

Please don't sell Torres. Not a great result against Reading. Spurs game called off- yay!! Good news at last

More good news with that spolit brat Junior out the door. Wasn't doing diddly anyway. Another one down. Couple more to go...

The Maxi deal can't be too far off? Get him in for the Reading re-match on Thursday.

Don't you have to play X amount of matches for a club before you are eligable for the FA Cup? Or am I thinking of the Chatham Cup?

Three for me, and two for them.

Indeed. Fantastic news. Get those pricks out of our club.

Yeah. But our deals almost never happen quickly. I'd like it to happen though. He was a great player- just has been left out by Atletico recently. He's better than Jurado anyway!! So lets just sign him. Not sure about that Buffy, to be honest. When is the Spurs game rescheduled to? Just got back from holiday...

Perennial strugglers Liverpool Echo said that He is flying in this week. Don't think he can play Fa Cup though. This round anyway! The Echo also said that he will be the only player in to Perennial strugglers Liverpool this window!!

Yeah don't think he can do the FA Cup if he was ready (I was just thinking optimistically) Spurs is a weeks time isn't it??

Looks like Nathan Eccelston has a new contract too. 2010 keeps getting better...

Ohkay then. Well, let's beat Reading without him anyway. Yeah- all money we get is going straight to the debt. I could write a song like that...

Haha, Eccleston is alright.

Maxi will be the only new player we buy but I saw one article suggest we could do 1 or 2 loan deals.

The other good news was that there was only limited funds in January because the board believes January transfers are too expensive and they are working hard to build a war chest for the off season (let's hope so).

What is worrying is talk that if we don't qualify for the UCL then Benitez may be forced to sell Torres

Happy to see the back of Hicks Jr. What a Twit! I just wish they'd all go away.
The one guy they brought in that I like though is Purslow the guy who replaced Rick Parry. He's done a hell of a lot to get the club financially healthier including the new shirt deal and looks most likely to be the one to get us out of the sh*t situation we're currently in.

I see. Well, I'll believe it when I see it! It'd be nice to get the Maxi deal wrapped up soon.

Yeah. I saw that came from Hicks? Which means he is just buying himself time. I don't believe anything that man says. Yeah. It really is imperative we get Top Four! To be fair, the journalist was looking for that answer- he kept asking Rafa.

Yeah. "Blow me f**kface"? All class. Mmm, seems to get on with Rafa pretty well too.

Have to agree with you about Purslow. In a way it's sad to see Calsberg off the shirt, it's been on so long now it's practically part of the furniture but the new sponsorship deal was a cracker.

Interesting rumour around a swap with Babel for Kenwyne Jones. I'd take it, but I want to see the back of Babel anyway...TheKop2010-01-12 14:52:17

I would rather swap Babel for Arda! Now there is a player that I like. However, I don't know how that's going as I only just read the story, which is from a while ago. I could see it turning out like the Kun affair- he wants to play for Perennial strugglers Liverpool but we can't afford him! Apparently we'll keep Babel because Rafa knows any deal is going striaght onto the debt. *sigh*

However Carlsberg is a horrible gassy lager.  Despite the advertising slogan it is in fact probably NOT the best beer in the world.

Would love to see a shirt brandishing "Timothy Taylor's Landlord; A Classic Strong Pale Ale ".  A well proper drop that one.

Yum yum!!

How old is Leggy?  Is he 12 or 72?

Spurs game on Wednesday the 20th (UK date). So it'll be next Thursday morning here? We'll have Masch back and Lennon will probably still be out then... Come on you Mighties! First up though, is Reading tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing it. I haven't seen us play since Torres' heroics against Villa. Although I have watched that a few times...

There's certainly some positive stuff floating around at the moment. Maxi flying in for a medical tonight and Chamakh edging closer to a deal.

We should deal to Reading tomorrow too. We're at Anfield and Reading spent their good luck in the first leg...

Hate to be a realist but, Maxi can't really get a game for Atletico by all accounts. He is so out of touch that they want to get rid of him and buy Arsenal teenager Fran Merida - who is pretty average from what I've seen of him. Nothing too special anyway.
Thus, unless he rediscovers himself for you guys he won't be any better than Babel, Riera or Benayoun.
Marouane Chamakh will play for nothing less than a champions league side and claims he will make a decision at the end of January - he has numerous clubs after him. Your form will have to improve dramatically to attract him to Perennial strugglers Liverpool. He will be on a free though, which is probably the limit of your budget for the time being.

Firstly, Yossi is class!

Secondly, regarding him being unable to get into the Atletico side. This is true, but really only because they have phased him out- not because he isn't good enough. They took the captaincy off him and tried to get rid, but he said he wanted to stay on. So they're stuck with him. Seriously, Maxi on his day is better than Jurado. He will be a great signing IF he can rediscover some form.

Chamakh, I doubt he will come. Exactly for the reasons you say. Only CL football and has other clubs after him. Thank f**k for free transfers...

But yeah. Lets be positive! We are able to beat Reading. Come on Reds!! Getting excited for this game!
