Yeah I heard Aquilani had a very influential game today so I suspect you're right.

Are you kidding? How dare you suggest that Stevie G England's Prince could ever do something wrong? He's an angel on and off the field. Never dives, never cheats, never boozes, never brawls. Perfect role model.

Shame on you paul.

Three for me, and two for them.

Well, Brown is an utter c**t and went running into Gerrard. And Stevie just raised his elbow all innocent, like. Hahaha. But seriously. It was nice to see Gerrard actually getting involved.

Aquilani= outstanding. Yeah, I know, it's only Pompey and all that stuff. But his movement and passing and skill was a real joy to watch. Man of the Match. Lucas starting at Old Trafford? Yeah, if he does then fair enough. We won't get that time on the ball, and that space to run against United. Hope he starts against Lille though. Was so impressed with him. So glad Pepe kept out that git Brown too.

Regarding the comments about Lucas and Kuyt being dropped = attacking performance: I agree wholeheartedly. Maxi's movement and touch was superb. Aquilani was bosssss. And Torres... Well, what can you say about the man? A total genius. Two goals, two assists and just generally the man.

Ah, and Atleti beat Osasuna... Happy day!!!!

Surely that was our best attacking line-up? The commentators were putting in the cheap shots to Rafa saying that wouldn't start Aquaman no matter how well he played. Bit silly really, he plays a lot more like Alonso and gives us a much nicer balance in the midfield huh?

Two massive games coming up. Lille and Manure.

Wow, Keisuke Honda at CSKA looks like a really good player. Pity we missed out on him, would've been nice to have a player like him in the team. But suppose we didn't have the 6m.

ive been pretty vocal in my dislike of lucas and kuyt, you guys seem to play better without them

aquallani looks the goods

if rafa were to go, who do you think would be a serious option to take his place?

Phil Brown?...

Meh. Wouldn't say Aquilani plays like Alonso, but just offers so much more going forward and, as you say, much more balance in the midfield than Lucas and Masch.

Yeah, two big games.

Don't know who would replace him. McLeish and O'Neill are forever mentioned...

GARGH!

Alberto Aquilani is doubtful for Thursday night's Europa League clash with Lille, manager Rafael Benitez confirmed today.

The Italian international - who netted his first goal for the Reds in a man of the match display against Portsmouth earlier in the week - missed training at Melwood on Wednesday.

"He has a virus and is struggling with his fitness," said Benitez at Melwood earlier today.

"We have to take care of him and decide tomorrow. It will be a late decision."

Yeah you can tell he was definitely on the fascist side during the Civil War.

Yeah. Don't really have a problem with Riera. He was okay. Could be excellent, could be frustrating. A mixed bag, but a pretty tidy footballer.

Doesn't look like he'll be here much longer though!

at the fascist comments... I always thought of him as French. Like, I could totally imagine him in a beret.

Looks like everyone's turned up in the first half. Even Lucas was visible on the field!

Reira's been suspended so he can pretty much pack his bags now.

Riera was pretty good last year, it's quite surprising to see him drop away. O well have fun in Russia!

Eh, not to fussed by draw. Thinking about match at OT. Although would like to avoid Valencia and David Villa.

Lucas played well today and Aquilani is recovering so I guess Lucas will start.

Match highlights of Lille
, particularly impressed by the way Torres has been playing of late.

Yeah, top day!

Lucas bashing  Glad to see he did well. Torres... You run our of things to say about this guys awesomeness! I love him so much.

Next round, yay. Hopefully not Atleti!! Valencia wouldn't be easy, either.

And next up... United. Oh, joy. We'll do our best, Gooners!

Not going to be easy, but second leg at Anfield is good. Looking forward to this game. And either Valencia or Atleti in the semi. So probably Atleti.

You guys seem to be hitting some form right now. Really hoping you can get up and get a result over the Mancs at Old Trollope.
