It's not all doom and gloom though. Studge coming back, Valdes still a possibility and a CL win this Thursday is a huge step toward making the next round.

Haven't replaced Suarez at all. Good luck.

Suarez hadn't played at this point last season.

Lallana looked great vs Everton, hoping things are turning. As you say Leighbo, great opportunity to progress in champs league tomorrow.

What is happening to our team.....look so shaky at the back.

Dissection time. WTF is going on?!

This team is a shadow of last year, and please rule out the Suarez factor as we played brilliantly without him last season as well as when he was in the team.

  • The defence is still poor. Flanno would make a difference but he's forever away from being fit, I do think we have individually good players BUT there is no leadership and for me, this boils down to Mingolet. He's a 'shot stopper' but truly great keepers stop the shots from even being taken by controlling their defence and pinpoint distribution. I hope the Valdes rumours are true and we should take a punt on him even if he's not 100% fit.
  • Not that we can afford to, but Sterling looks like he needs a break. Too much responsibility, too fast and he feels he has to create something every single time.
  • The up front pressure and counter attack are too low and too slow. We let teams get numbers behind the ball which is ridiculous when we have invested in pace (Markovic, Lallana, Moreno, etc)
  • Shoot, shoot, shoot!

Still, we're in the CL, we still have an excellent chance of progressing, we're only 4 points off 4th in the Premiership and we can only get better (surely?). The expectations for this season are massive given what we did last year, but I think we got ahead of the curve last season and Rodgers and FSG will be aware of that and won't be in panic mode yet.

Twitter is a depressing place to be when we lose, not because of fans from other team, but because of our own 'fans'.

Agree re Sterling. We look one dimensional and our one dimension isn't working. If it was working, we'd be humming, but instead we just look flat and totally lacking creativity.

That was tough to watch this morning.

Some absolute rubbish touches and passes, I expect better.

Sterling's worst performance, I agree, may need a week off as he has the pressure piled up on him at the moment. I don't think Mario operates a his best as a lone striker and have been impressed when Lambert has come on late. Markovic is only young but gave the ball away too many times, sometimes under no pressure. So including Countinho, the 3 in the 4-2-3-1 didn't contribute. We also look dodgy defending set-pieces still but I'm glad Skrtel is in for Sakho. Is Emre Can training/not injured. Keen to see him play instead of Markovic.

Looking forward to Sturridge returning!!

Optimistically thinking things are only gonna (can) get better from here!

Really? You're still favoured over Basel to make it out of the group at the bookies (1.7 v 2.8) but, given that Basel have performed pretty credibly on English soil in recent years I wouldn't be putting any money Liverpool's way.

Three for me, and two for them.

Yes, really. Watch us take 4 points from Real, they weren't exactly humming against Ludogorets ;)

I have recovered a little from my doom and gloom and am expecting a win this weekend.......but I see above, the TAB has $8 for a West Brom win. Jeepers, seems like pretty good odds at this time.

Basel were close to $4 yesterday. Seemed mighty generous.

It seems blasphemous but do you put a $25 insurance bet on them?

It Liverpool lose, that sucks but you win $200, if Liverpool win it was worth the $25 - if they draw...er...maybe put a fiver on the draw as well.

Well we got a win....hopefully build some confidence, we still look nervous when the pressure comes on.

Lallana is turning out to be a great signing huh?

Now that he is finally fit he's starting to show why he was BRs no1 transfer target. I think he's going to be huge for us. But for the Jag wondergoal we'd be sitting in 4th. Not all doom and gloom :)

Reid to Liverpool. Being chased by Arse, Scum and us. All 3 could do with his services to be fair.

Got through the international break with no injuries, great start!

Sterling asked to be rested for England. Don't know if I should feel happy or concerned.

OK so maybe Lovren was injured?

Wellington Reds: LFC v QPR

Our next game is v QPR on Monday morning, 20th October, at 1:30am.
Given the Kick Off time Four Kings will need to open specifically for us and they are concerned about numbers. They have proposed an alternative option of showing a delayed viewing at 6am at The Pub on Monday morning instead. We did this successfully a few times last season with attendees not checking the score effectively making it 'LIVE' for those that were there.

PLEASE comment below with your preferred option. If there are enough people interested for both times then I might be able to convince them to open for both.

We will be making a decision on Wednesday morning so please reply as soon as possible.

Heard/saw a rumour that New Balance are getting into the football game and will sponsor the LFC kit next season. From memory, Warrior are owned by New Balance and have close ties with FSG so unsure if this amounts to anymore cash OR just a continuance of the current deal with a new name on the shirt.

I'm skint for a few weeks. Not sure I can make any LFC Wellington events...but I do have a nice new set of cricket whites, bag and the car might get that warrant!

Who's this O. Goals fella? Sounds like he had a ripper of a game. Mario's replacement?

Yeah Tyler, so cool to have a game like that this week! Pretty fudgeing worried that we're gonna get torn apart but hopefully the boys are up for it! Think I've got the day off so will head out to watch. Work had been fudgeing with my football of late!

Any idea if it's on ESPN or ESPN2?

Fudgeing sky guide still has both channels as "teams and venues TBC". Will let you know as soon as it's up.

Just saw the goal highlights from this morning..... thank fudge Caulker turned that last one in, as on current form, Mario may have put it over the bar!

You guys are on live on ESPN 1 on thursday morn

Sky are useless at updating the ESPN programming. I always go here;

https://intltv.espn.com/on_air/tv_listings

Put in "Pacific/Auckland" for the time zone, select your date range, and select "Pacific Rim" for the network (that's our ESPN feed). I see Pacific Rim 2 is now an option in that list too.

Read that Borini is still on the outer with Rodgers and they still want shot of him and there is little change of us giving up on Balotelli (which I think is good, took Suarez a while to find his feet).

Moreno and Balo will both start vs Real despite calls to give Raheem a crack up front.

Sky are useless mate. Had my contact at LFCANZ hit ESPN up directly. Think you'll make it down to The Pub for the game?

No updates on Official Supporters a club status yet, will get in touch with them tonight and see where we are at. Should know either way in the next week

Haha that they are!

I never heard back from LFCNZ so if you still wanna use my number, go for it.

Unfortunately I fudgeed up my roster so can't watch live (yet again!) tomorrow. Plus side is I can get to the Nix on sunday.

Will let you know when I'm attending though Kopgoff and will buy you a beer.

I am in Ireland at the moment and will be watching the match tonight with some of the LFC Dublin crew. The Internet is a glorious place.

Also managed to get to the official LFC store here yesterday and get myself some memorabilia! Lucky socks for match days here we come.

Started well, but in the last few minutes have gone to sleep. Simple goal from Ronaldo should have defended better. Not helped by Anfield sounding so quite.

Liverpool players smiling when ever Ronaldo says anything. I don't remember Souness smiling and joking when being 1 nil down.
