...anywhooooo...

LFC vs MUFC in the International Cup final - how are Man Yoo likely to line up? You'd have to say they are likely winners given a few of our top players have now left the tour to head home and work on fitness etc.

I suspect something along the lines of:

                             De Gea

             Blackett    Smalling   Evans

Rafael      Fletcher    Cleverley    Shaw

                 Kagawa

        Nani           Hernandez

Based on an assumption that not many of the guys who started against Real Madrid will start again so soon.

I don't think 5 of those will start.

What you forgot to say was that United were not happy about his knee, he went back to Holland  and days later he ruptured his cruciate knee ligaments. It was a year later that Utd signed him and they paid more than the original fee.

That's exactly what I said.

Well done.

That is not exactly what you said.

In this case the 'this' function settles the argument quite nicely.

Raphael is injured and back in the UK. Cleverly probably won't be in before Herrera.Mata in before Kagawa and Rooney ahead of Nani.

Of course VG is unpredictable and will more than likely be telling 3/4 players after this game that they are on the transfer list.So anything could happen. He seems to like Valencia so you could add him.

I agree that Herrera, Mata and Rooney are first choice, but if you had read my post you would know I was thinking that some players wouldn't start after starting two days earlier.

For those not on twitter of Facebook:

LFC WELLINGTON: SEASON 2014/15

After meeting with our supporters club venue owner plans have now been put into place for this coming season. Below is an overview of what you can expect for the start of the season:

- The decision has been made that going forward LFC Wellington will now be based at Four Kings for ALL games. Whilst it may not be a popular decision for some, one of the biggest challenges last season for The Pub was sourcing staff to open outside of normal hours (most games). By moving to Four Kings this problem is removed. Being a dedicated sports bar the sound quality will be greater and the issue of not having a big screen will be alleviated.
- A concern I shared with a lot of you was not wanting to lose the atmosphere that being in a smaller venue provided. As a result I managed to secure a dedicated LFC Wellington 'fan zone'. This will be exclusive to LFC fans, and will mean that we can watch games on the projector and on the lazy boy lounge TVs. The reserved area size is small enough to keep the atmosphere we had at The Pub, yet provides us with the flexibility to increase our supporter group for the bigger games.
- From the start of the season we will still be given drinks specials during games. However, a short while into the season (I will provide plenty of notice) Four Kings will provide LFC Wellington supporters with a loyalty card which you will then need to show in order to receive a beverage discount. This card will be valid at all times at all venues that come under the HOFF Hopsitality Group banner (The Pub, Four Kings/Five Stage, Electric Avenue and Dakota).
- Four Kings will apply for special licenses to show some of the big games that fall outside of licensing hours (such as on the 14/12 and 21/12 when we play Utd and Arsenal at 4am). Obviously no guarantees can be given that they will be approved but we will be able to put a compelling case together. More info will be given closer to the time for these games, but one thing to be aware of is that we will need to provide a list of attendees for these occasions.

I appreciate it's a lot of information to take on board, this should be the last long post for a while.

Information for the first game of the season will be posted next week.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

I heard that we were pretty good. Followed Twitter for the whole game and looks like A+ marks for Sterling, Sakho and Coutinho. D- for Johnson, C- for Mingolet.

They had a much stronger team than we did AND they have players fighting to stay at the club with LvG about to wield the axe, while we were missing Gerrard from halftime and also Sterling, Lallana, Lovren, Agger. By the end of the game BR was playing Coutinho as a striker when Can was brought on for Lambert.

Man Yoo would see it as a solid start they need after last season. Liverpool will see it as a training opportunity and refining the Plans B and C they evidently lacked last year against Chelsea.

Rmours of a bid for Lavezzi? No thanks. I doubt we could afford his wages.

Manquillo is a done deal - on loan but not sure for how long - rumours of two year.

Will back up RB and is a Spanish youth international. Surely this means Flanno as the #1 RB, Manquillo as back up and Johnson will be gone to QPR?

3 more signings still needed IMO

  • Replacement for Mingolet or at least competition
  • Striker (Lavezzi or Reus)
  • LB - Moreno is picking up steam again with Suso on loan + 16m seen as part of the deal

Damn I love Twitter trawling for transfer rumours!

I purchased a new iPhone cover today after the other one busted. Was in a rush, seemed a good deal and then afterwards realised I'd purchased an Everton/Chelsea/Cardiff (previously) blue cover. I feel dirty.

LFC v Borussia Dortmund

Come and join us tonight (Sunday 10th Aug) at Four Kings to watch the Mighty Reds in their last hit out before the season opener against Southampton next week.
Good chance for those that haven't visited the refurbished Four Kings to check out our new supporters venue, and to see the our dedicated Fan Zone (needs a better name!).

Doors will be open already so cruise on down before kick off at 11:15pm for a catch up.

Hope to see you there

Still need a LB and a Striker but then, I think our signings are done. If Lucas leaves, I feel like we could use another CM as we will be left with Allen, Gerrard, Can and Henderson who can play there, not enough for amount of games we have. Am I missing someone?

Rumours still swirling of Moreno, Reus, Canavani and Bony.

Lallana? or is he mainly a wide player?

I wouldn't mind Bony but I'm still holding out we'll get someone in the 'superstar' category, like Cavani or Falcao. Not sure how realistic that is but at this point it feels like we've got a reasonable squad capable of being competitive in all competitions, but perhaps not capable of actually winning those competitions.

Have we got greater depth than last year? Almost certainly. Have we taken it to the next level though? I'm not so sure. Hoping we get a superstar who can make that difference.

Oh yeah, Lallana...

Depends on how we line up I guess. Surely Can is a straight replacement for Lucas. Tackles well and has very good vision, you could see him being a Mascherano type player and could cover defence in a pinch.

I'd like to see a keeper come in as well. I'm not so sure Mingolet has the quality to be a top class keeper. We need someone with more dominance, confidence and leadership.

I hear the GJ played at left back with Manquillo on the right. I'd like to see Flanno at the #1, maybe he's a good option for LB? Starting line-up for Southampton?

Mingolet

Manquillo     Sahko      Lovren     Flannagan

Can

Gerrard                Henderson

Sterling                                             Coutinho

Sturridge

...anyway...

It has been suggested by people within the Liverpool scout/coaching set up that they should consider playing Emre Can at left back as he has the ability, great vision and very strong defence to make that position his own. Thoughts based on what people have seen of him?

LFC likely to tour Oz again next year.

According to Australian Financial Review three ‪#‎ICC‬ games will be played at the MCG next year involving Manchester City, Real Madrid and Liverpool.
Remember hearing Melbourne Victory reps were in Liverpool earlier this year to thrash it out

- Moreno done pending medical

- Konoplyanka still of interest and likely

- Eto'o not happening

- BR still wants Bony

At the other end:

- Suso to Sevilla on loan as part of Moreno deal

- Kelly to palace

- Johnson to QPR off as wage demands too high

- Assaidi may move to WBA instead of Stoke

Didn't realise Konoplanka was likely, is that good news? I don't know anything about him other than that BR has been trying to sign him for the past few windows. So on the "In Rodgers We Trust" theory I'm taking that as good news.

Konoplyanka - From Wiki so not sure how accurate.

Not much of a goal scoring record but rated highly creatively

Club career[edit]

At age seven, Konoplyanka signed up for a karate class, which he did simultaneously with football, eventually reaching black belt.[1] He is a product of the youth system of FC Olimpik Kirovohrad, and coach Yuriy Kevlich.[1]He also participated in the Ukrainian National Youth Competition, representing DYuSSh-2 Kirovohrad.

Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk[edit]

Konoplyanka made it to Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk at age 16.[1] In the winter of 2006 he was promoted to the Dnipro reserves with a starting salary of 300 dollars.[2]

Konoplaynka's senior team debut came in an Ukrainian Premier League match on 26 August 2007 in a home game against Zakarpattia Uzhhorod which ended 0–0.[3] Konoplyanka came on during the 83rd minute, replacing Jaba Kankava.

Konoplaynka's professional career greatly accelerated starting in 2010.

His first goal in the Ukrainian Premier League came 28 February 2010 in a home game against Zorya Luhanskwhich ended 2–2.[4] In the second half of the 2009–10 season, Konoplyanka started and played the full 90 minutes in all of the remaining games.

April 2010 also saw Konoplaynka called up to Ukraine's senior national team by head coach Myron Markevych.[5]

In March 2011, Dynamo Kyiv interim coach Oleh Luzhny expressed his desire to see Konoplyanka in his ranks and the media reported that Dynamo would make an offer to Dnipro worth 14 million euro.[6] In response, Dnipro coach Juande Ramos placed a sensational scare price-tag ranging from 50 to 60 million euro, commenting that "in order to build a great team, great players should play there."[7]

In January 2014, Konoplyanka nearly moved to English team Liverpool for £16 million, his buyout clause, but Dnipro president Ihor Kolomoyskyi refused to sanction the transfer.[8]

Style of play[edit]

Konoplyanka is described as a versatile team player, with good vision, passing, pace, dribbling, and creativity.

Tactically, he plays a free attacking and occasionally a playmaking role. He is comfortable attacking on either wing or through the centre of the pitch. He began in a deeper role but he has found his best form as left winger in a flexible 4-2-3-1.

Anyone else surprised to see Kelly go? I would have kept him, although I suppose if no-one comes in for Coates or Agger we have to let someone go

I think we'd be looking to get rid of Agger, Kolo and Coates by the time the window closes - of the three, I'd suggest Coates could be the one to stay and BR played him in a DM role during one of the games (BVB? Burnley?). Seems strange to get rid of Kelly, thought he was the next big thing but maybe he just hasn't kicked on as BR hoped.

Across the defence, we'll have Johnson, Flanno, Manquillo (RBs), Lovren, Sakho, Skrtel (CBs), Enrique, Moreno (LBs) and as mentioned before, Emre Can covers defence as well. Is that enough? We also know that Johnson and Flanno can play LB if required and I actually think Johnson plays better on the left than the right.

At best, she'll buy a few shares and be an ambassador for the club which would fit in with their push for fans and exposure in the US. LFC is worth more than 10 times her total net worth so not a chance in hell unless she can get Jay-Z, P-Diddy & Dr. Dre involved as well.
