Yes WBA should've had the penalty. But we should've had the blatant handball too, so they evened each other out.

I don't think their other penalty (the miss) was that bad - I think he was going to slot it to his right, saw the keeper dive and tried to readjust.

For me Anderson has again, had a poor game. He's just not consistent enough. Commentator was preaching death for Oberta, but while his finishing was sloppy at least he was making things happen. Fletch and Carrick are easily the best centre pairing.

Really hope Rooney's injury isn't major. He was definitely looking to find a bit of form in that game.

Not a lot to say about this game. Utd very lucky. WBA deserved more from this game.
Too many Utd players having a bad day. Rooney was one of the only players that looked like he wanted to win.
On that performance, we don't deserve to win the league.
That shouls be the last game for Gary N., he was shocking.

I didn't see that.  I tried getting sleep between United and Arsenal games and my alarm, try as it might, couldn't wake me for the Arsenal match.  The fact that WBA were easily the better side over the course of this mornings game*, deserving of at least a point, and the fact the penalty (should they have converted it) would have put them in the lead makes me think it probably more major than a potential penalty for B'mingham against Arsenal which, should they convert it, would bring them level and at a point when, from all accounts, Arsenal were the better side.  Of course, I would have to watch it myself to know - just going on what I've been told.

*Though a lot of the play which was better than United's came after the penalty wasn't given so maybe if the penalty was given they'd have played poorer than United.  Who knows.

not just a penalty, it's a straight red
but MUFC get the calls
everyone knows this.

WBA can only blame themselves however. Don't miss penalties or let a guy seemingly 5'1" had in from 3 yards.

if I sound bitter I am. I punted 2-1 WBA
coulda, shoulda, woulda

Your right. We have some tough games ahead. Lets hope we don't do what we did some years ago when we had about a 12 point lead and blew it.

Arsenal could have and should have won that esaily. City were as bad have I have ever seen them. Not taking anything away from the Arse. I find it hard to believe that City spent so much on players that really were not worth it.
The only 2 players that I would have is Tevez and Johnson. The rest are not up to it.

Not much you can do against a parked bus.  They really are a joke.  Still, if they can park the bus for you (even nip in a winning goal, dare I suggest it) and then we have a good performance vs you then I'm optimistic.

Needing to beat Spurs first, though.  That will be very tough indeed.

Unlike many supporters of other teams, I am not cocky about Utd and don't presume anything. This league is the toughest yet. On their day the bottom team can beat the top side. There are still 4/5 teams in this title race, although I'm sure there are many that will disagree.
There are over 50 points to play for.

Yeah, 5 teams in it.  A good run could see another join the current 5.  Don't see it as likely but possible.  The mid table teams have all improved and many of the top teams have become poorer (on the field).  While it's frustrating at times it makes for a more exciting spectacle.

Wooooo.

Was getting a bit nervous before the match. :P

Berba dive (only because of that extra step) but still what a fking idiotic challenge.

Gerrard's red is fair. Can't challenge like that. Looked far worse on normal-speed than slow-mo so I think Webb had to send him.

Anderson is useless.

Utd will be disappointed that they didnt win by 2 or 3, like how everyone else does against Liverpull.

Agree. Watched the game live and after the pen and red card the game was over. Utd could have won by 3 but seemed to be more interested in playing possession. They did that well but was not a great spectacle.
Very happy with result, but not the game.

I've just read a nice blog on Paul Scholes and what his peers think of him, and it does make you wonder how he has never picked up any big individual awards. Definitely worth a read:

Some of the quotes on there:

I tell anyone who asks me Scholes is the best English player. Laurent Blanc

An amazingly gifted player who remained an unaffected human being. Roy Keane

The best? Without any doubt it has to be Paul Scholes. He knows how to do everything, and he is the one who directs the way his team plays. On top of that, he has indestructible mental strength. Thierry Henry

There isnt a player of his mould anywhere else in the world. Glenn Hoddle

If you ask footballers to pick out the player they most admire, so many of them will pick Paul Scholes. Hes the most consistent and naturally gifted player weve had for a long, long time. Alan Shearer

Scholes is one of the most complete footballers Ive ever seen. His one-touch play is phenomenal. Whenever I have played against him, I never felt I could get close to him. Eidur Gudjohnsen

Every one of us is just trying to become as good as him. Everyone can learn from Paul Scholes. Im not the best, Paul Scholes is. Edgar Davids

He is the one whose level I aspire to. He is the best player in the Premier League. Cesc Fabregas

The player in the Premiership I admire most? Easy Scholes. Patrick Vieira

I cant understand why Scholes has never won the player of the year award. He should have won it long ago. Maybe its because he doesnt seek the limelight like some of the other stars. Thierry Henry

My toughest opponent? Scholes of Manchester. He is the complete midfielder. Undoubtedly the best midfielder of his generation. Zinedine Zidane

Paul Scholes would have been one of my first choices for putting together a great team that goes to show how highly I have always rated him. Marcello Lippi

Im saddened because I think we as spectators, not only in this country but right through out Europe and the rest of the World, will be missing one hell of a footballer. Ray Wilkins

Paul Scholes is my favourite player. He epitomises the spirit of Manchester United and everything that is good about football. Sir Bobby Charlton

without question, I think Paul Scholes is the best player in England. Hes got the best skills, the best brain. No one can match him. Sir Alex Ferguson

Happy with a point after the red, thought our defence was brilliant. Thought we could have possibly nicked it, but we really are in a dream position in the league at the moment.
