But former Liverpool striker Fowler, who has been plying his trade in the A-League since last year, suggested in a tongue-in-cheek interview that Rooney could join him at the Glory.

Anyway onto this weekend...

Stoke away is always a hard fought game. Hope we can finally sort this away league game nonsense! Another 1-0 win would go down a treat, but 3-0 would be better! lol.

Vidic Nani and Evra seem to be playing pretty every game at the mo, hope they dont over do it before we get to silly season. Owen may be back this week / next week which will help. Would also love to know how far away Hargreaves is aswell.

Man Gareth Bale would be quite a signing! Lets hope Spurs do well in the champs league this season but dont make the top 4 then he may just fancy leaving in the summer!

Rooney signs a 5 year deal with united. If I was a scum fan I wouldn't want the clown.

I might have taken that stance if the finances weren't in ruins and I felt the transfer fee would go towards a replacement as opposed to interest.

Under current circumstances, I'm prepared to take a more wide lens view, consider that we all make mistakes, especially at age 24 and allow him to go about burn whatever bridges he may have burnt with his team mates and us the fans.

Also, the positive I've taken out of this is that while in the ideal world I would like the side to be full of true reds like Scholes and Giggs, having someone in the line up that wants silverwear so bad that he's prepared to bring the hate of millions world wide upon him could be not so bad.

Rooney Rooney Rooney! Once he comes back from injury he's going to start scoring goals. Lookout.

Good from a club standpoint. He will either return to good form, or if he does a Ronaldo and repeats this again next season he won't be walking out for $5. I think this might be a kick in the right direction for him though.

Its embarrassing how many of you lot a happy he's staying despite saying he was a c**t a few days ago.

How is it embarrassing? We support Manchester United and if one of the world's top players signs a new contract with us of course we are going to be happy. The important thing is he's realised he was being a "c**t" and is ready to play for us again.

If you're happy with the disrespectful git playing for you aagain thats all that matters, don't worry about me.

fergie has probably just wrangled this deal with him so he can make more money off him in the offseason - the price will be inflated now because he's on a longer term contract

Well I'm wearing my Rooney shirt today, at least until I head to the Kiwis, simply because I am happy he will be scoring goals for us again. Off the field he certainly is anything but perfect (and this week he has been a bit of a c*nt). But on the field he his a f*cking genius, and I'm happy he will on the field in a red shirt. It is certainly will take a while for everyone to fully trust him again, but goals are just the thing to do aid that process.

The drama this week was not necessary,  but it has ended well - alls well that ends well.

Good birthday present for myself, I must say.

I hope he can get fully fit and put the past 6 months behind him, and start scoring goals. A lot.

What a rollercoaster week! Glad he's re-signed.....even tho we now know for sure that football aside hes a bit of a nobhead.

Ill still cheer him, just like i did with Ronny after all the crap after euro 08 went down. Form is temporary, class is permanent. Looking forward to when the scouse git is fit again!

And at the end of the day if it all goes tits up, at least theres a large contract to be a safeguard - similar to when Becks signed at the end of 01-02 then left at the end of the following season for decent dosh. Time will tell, mainly next summer, as to what direction United will be heading and how the squad gets livened up will tell us all exactly that.

Stoke on sunday...

VDS
Rafa Vida Rio Evra
Nani Scholes Fletch Ando
Berba Hernandez

With the injuries we have at the mo the team we will be putting out over the next few wees will prob be fairly predictable i would have thought. Will have to start looking at the likes of Obertan (who looks to have bulked up a little from what we saw of him last season) to see what theyre made of

Yeah back to the topic of the game on Sunday . . .

Every week we all try to predict the side that SAF is going to put out but we hardly ever get it right as he is always rotating. I just hope he doesn't play Park, I can't stand him. He's alright for the Cups and the CL but don't want him playing for the Premier League Squad.

VDS

RAFAEL - RIO - VIDA - EVRA

FLETCHER - SCHOLES - ANDERSON

      NANI   - BERBATOV -  HERNANDEZ

Is O'Shea injured? I'd say he'll be there for the big physical Stoke lads, probably at RB.

The only other position up for grabs could be Anderson - the question is who, maybe Carrick or Gibson?

Nah O'Shea's fit, I just prefer Rafael by a country mile but I can see what you're saying about Stoke's physicality. I would rather have Wes Brown at RB if Rafael isn't going to play.

O'Shea is better than both of them.

If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid

Pretty big generalisation. Who said that? Go back to your cave(relegation zone).

Were you real happy when Rooney came out and said all those things mid week?

The only reason i say Ando over the rest Paulinho is he's left footed and can  play wide left...

Out of all the guys we've had playing RB in recent seasons Wes Brown was probably the best (when not injured) and the most consistent (again, when not injured) think back to 07/08 when we did the league and champs league double, Brown played in a stupid number of games at RB and contributed hugely at both ends of the pitch. Since then he's almost always had niggles so has hardly featured for any great length of time. O'shea's a stop gap and Rafa just needs time and games but he will get there for sure

That guy who ran on after the second goal was a laugh, everyone just ignored the fact he wasn't suppose to be there.

Decent game - missed Stoke's goal as it was the one time in the game I had to change streams.

Hernandez's first goal was awesome! the more i see it the more impressive it is.

When Tuncay equlised i thought oh crap he we go again, but we really turned it up a notch to after that. Great to finally get the ball rolling with grinding out a result.

We could have had a couple of pen's, but also Nev could have been sent in the first half aswell. Meh who cares 3 points thanks very much.

Chance for the kids on tuesday night against Wolves in the league cup. Go kids!

sh*t those set pieces by Stoke make me nervous. I thought they were going to score off one of them but ironically they scored the first time they created anything from open play. Pretty frustrating performance from United, some sloppy passing, struggled to create, and couldn't keep the ball, but I'm stoked with the three points. I knew when we signed him we had pulled off a bargain... 7 million pounds. He's going to score A LOT of goals for United and long may it continue.

Kuszczak

Rafael - Smalling - Brown - Fabio

Bebe - Gibson - Park - Obertan

Owen - Macheda

Come on United. Hopefully Obertan and Bebe are involved from kick-off. Apparently Hargreaves could feature as well.
