Fergie generally lets the good ones go when they become more important to the club than him.

Ronaldo is seeking even more money from Madrid before he signs. As he did not aske for the transfer, isn't he entitled to 10% of the 80 Million as well?

It would depdn how the rules are written.

Madrid placed bid, Ronaldo hears this and says, "I go", then United is like, "Fark you sell him" so I dunno.

I'm looking forward to some new talent though, I hope he does go.Michael2009-06-20 14:05:47

I thought he might have been a good bet. Possibly cos his name sounds like benzene, but also would have been interesting to see him play in england. Oh well, possibly Aguero? although the options are becoming scarce. Wouldn't mind giving Huntelaar a shot but don' know if they want to pursue him anymore

I would love to see Aguero come but I dunno if he a) wants to come, b)Athletico want to sell, or c) we want to pay the buy out in his contract (think it was around 50million quid). For any team other than Real Madrid I think is too much for a player (not that we couldn't afford it, I just don't think SAF would pay that much for one player. Hence why I didn't see why Benzema would come for that much).

The options are certainly scarce if we are after some massive name, but I think we will go after a young guy who is a bit of an unknown but with massive potential (Douglas and Nilmar are two Brazilian names that are being thrown about and some guy playing for one of the half decent French sides... I'll see if I can find the name). The only problem then is we may have to be patient (think Ronaldo, Nani and Anderson) for them to develop as superstars. From that list of three Ronaldo made it, Anderson definitely will, and the jury is very out on Nani.

Huntelaar would be interesting though, possibly an exception? Certainly seems that he could score goals anywhere if he wanted.

I'm very happy that Valencia is there though it gives us great balance, and with the incredible youth talent we have at the club SAF will not have to do much to revolutionise the squad for the millionth time.

I still think Anderson needs to improve some more. I am hoping that some of the younger players make the step up, Tosic, Possebon, Wellbeck etc.

I think Carrick goes missing in big games, a bit of a flat track bully. Would love to see some exciting CM to replace Scholes, with excellent movement and passing. Compared to the top sides in the EPL and Europe it is a weakness for us. Hargreaves needs to stay fit for the season to give us options.

Will be interesting to see the lineup we play, because I am not sure how Rooney and Berbatov are going to work together as yet, depends if SAF goes for a straight 442 or some variation of 451.

                              VDS
Raf/Wes        Rio            Vidic            Evra
              Fletcher/Hargreaves/Carrick/Anderson/Possebon (2 of these)
Valencia                                                                 Tosic/Nani/Park
                        Rooney   Berbatov

                              VDS
Raf/Wes        Rio            Vidic            Evra
              Fletcher/Hargreaves/Carrick/Anderson/Possebon (2 of these)
Valencia                      New CM/AM                                Tosic/Nani/Park
                                        Rooney

Yeah that first one is about right I reckon - with Big Benny Foster pushing Edwin for the GK shirt, and Fletcher and Carrick or Carrick and Anderson being our first choice CMs. THe left will be interesting - Park will have the inside job but if Nani or Tosic stand up they will take that position.

Interesting to see on that you have none of Scholes, Giggs or Neville. Obviously they are retiring and will be used as squad players more, but was the conscious desicion?

Obviously we will replace CT, but when you think of the youth we have up front with Welbeck and Macheda it is exciting times for young blokes at United (as always). Ljajic is joining us as well, could be an option for CM depending on how he develops.

Hargreaves needed someone to keep him company in the treatment room.

Where did you fellas see that? I see we are linked with him - not a bad player for the bench if he stays healthy - fairly big IF though.

Well as it isn't on the United website and it's a tabloid saying he is set to join, I think you might've been a bit premature on this one (I hope only the first time you've been premature).

Having said that , it does look likely, so is certainly an interesting signing. He'll score goals if he stays fit.

Definitely a concious decision. Could easily have chucked Scholes and Giggs in there, Neville I feel has been overtaken - he was coming back from injury but Raf looks exciting.

Yeah Nev will play a bit part role this season for sure - 20 games or so I'd say. Bit awkward when he's club captain - though Rio is that in every way apart from official.

Back to Mickey Owen, if all this turns out to be true then it fits in with what I said yesterday - a young bloke can be signed and groomed while Owen offers more experience. If he stays healthy.

Rodrigo Possebon has gone out on loan for the entire season to Braga in Portugal, good experience for the lad.

Was disappointing that he broke his leg in the beginning of last season. I was really hoping that he would have gotten more first team experience and pushed on this season. Still think he has a bright future.
