Veloso or Moutinho from Sporting would be great additions to the current midfield, easily the weak point in the squad and I think Scholesy might have to step up if we're going to start linking the ball between midfield and attack properly.

What a debacle that was! Hilarious, but a little bit frustrating. As Arsene said, "it was a good kick".

Yeah we maybe got a bit lucky - that was a definite penalty on Rooney I thought, and that own goal was a ripping header... I'll take the points, it was a big 3 and we can go on from here. Get a week off to enjoy it this weekend, which I always enjoy after a big match.

I paused it when i watched it again on that same bit with mr. wenger standing on the dug out. Priceless!! Still makes me chuckle, what a funny man.

Bit of a shame (although not suprising) that owen didnt make the england squad, but when you see some of the guys who have been included its definitely fair enough (at this stage of the season )

Champions league draw seems to have been quite good for us, and all british clubs for that matter.

Hilarious to see Wenger accusing Man U of being anti-footbal because one or two of his precious babies got kicked around a bit.  Not the first time he's pulled that excuse.  Another reason why Arsenal won't win anything.

Well it seems Wenger has a policy of not blaming his players for anything, but he is unbelievably hypocritical of him to say that playing a defensive midfielder is antifootball, one because his players have been in the spotlight for, er, doing some rather anti football things themselves (Eduardo, Eboue) and two because under his mangement, Arsenal have had the most red cards given. Now this was a definite stat a couiple of years ago, whether anyone has bothered to look at this since I don't know, but its not like his teams are a lot of angels.

yeah i agree that wenger goes a bit over the top at times, he's french LOL man u would get a lot more cards if the refs werent on their side most of the time, you gotta admit that. eboue is a terrible diver LOL

Hargreaves named in Man United's UCL squad
https://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=673028&sec=uefachampionsleague&cc=3436

Squad:
Van der Sar, Foster, Kuszczak, Neville, Evra, Fabio, Rafael, O'Shea, Ferdinand, Brown, Vidic, Carrick, Fletcher, Valencia, Nani, Scholes, Park, Hargreaves, Gibson, Giggs, Obertan, Macheda, Owen, Berbatov, Rooney
+
Amos, J Evans, Cathcart, Chester, Hewson, C Evans, Anderson, Gray, Welbeck, Zieler (born on or after January 1, 1988 and available to play for the club for at least 2 years)

Interestingly no Tosic, must be on the outer

Well it's interesting that he is not there and Hargreaves is, but I think he's still a year or two out from making his mark, he's just not physically developed enough yet. Maybe he'll go out on loan, or otherwise he'll definitely be involved in the Carling Cup, and probably the FA Cup matches as well.

Tosic is 22 and a serbian international, he may still have some adjusting to do, but could have easily been included in the champions league squad - i am sure kiko would have fit into the extra youngsters category and tosic could have been included.

Kiko wouldn't have been eligible to play for the club for the last two years - otherwise we would have done that I'm sure. I would surmise that either is because he wasn't signed from Lazio two years ago, or if he was that he was still at school and therefore uneligible to play.

Good point about Tosic though, I thought he was younger than 22. Oh well if he's not in favour or not builking up fast enough then we may see him go the way of Rossi, and go play as a top player elsewhere. Shame really. He did go well on the preseason tour as well.

Look forward to Diouf joining the squad. Hopefully him and Nani can score a few, maybe have Nani assist one his goals and the two can go crazy together

yea, i read something the other day saying its likely tosic will move on as he's not what fergie is looking for

this thread had to be fished out of the doldrums. No ronaldo = no interest?

anyhow, just came on to comment on the goal celebrations when anderson banged one in against spurs just now. wtf it looked like rooney was shoving his wang in anderson's face. Bizarre

Was anybody else completely miffed when they got up at 5.10 to find that the match was actually being screened live? I WAS!!! And the stupid thing is that i checked it again before i went to be around 11.30 to make sure i had the right time... f**kin Sky...

Was a good result tho i must say. Didnt really notice it too much when scholes departed!

Foster - great again, and all 3 goals were good :)

Who here reckons that Foster should stay on even when VDS comes back?
Permalink Permalink

Id say yes, at the mo there's no reason to drop him - hes in great form!

I was extremely impressed with the win - thought we played extremely well. Fletcher and Evra have become true world class players, Evra is one of the top wingbacks anywhere.

This was a tough game, but the way we played after the early goal was conceded and then with the red card bodes very well. Bring on Besiktas and then those annoying Man City boys.

Yea i was annoyed to get up at 5 and see i'd missed a half hour. Wouldn't mind seeing Foster stay. Exquisite save to deny Jenas. Looking forward to Besiktas. Disappointed it's not live due to flaming Real Madrid though.

Him, Maicon and Danie Alves are easily the best in the world IMO

Maicon annoys me. I don't know why, he just does. And it was only a year ago that everyone was w**king on about how brilliant Sergio Ramos was, when deep down people knew he was poos.

04-05 Gabi Heinze was best full back around.....then he got injured and never really hit the same heights!

Evra hands down is the best LB going :) And insanely consistant!

Looking forward to the game in the morning! Keen to see the line up

well as much as i hate him, you gotta respect fergie's no-nonsense management of his players. Love this from forlan;

"Ferguson wanted me to play with long studs, the interchangeable ones that suit wet pitches, but I feel more comfortable in short ones. I agreed to change but I didn't and, against Chelsea, I slipped in front of goal and wasted a chance. Afterwards, I rushed to the dressing room to change boots but Ferguson caught me. He grabbed the boots and threw them. That was my last game for United." - Diego Forlan talks us through his final game for United.

He never takes sh*t does fergie. Loved it how as soon as they caused dressing room issues he got rid of both RVN and beckham. I'm sure there's more stories like the above that have never come forward too...

Yeh i saw that the other day, thought it was hillarious!!

But fair play to Forlan for never making an issue of it in the papers etc when he did leave. Makes you wonder tho.....what if he did as he was told - look at the amount of goals hes scored since he left

So far as this weekends game against chitty goes...
Foster
O'shea Evans (or Rio if fit) Vidic Evra
Valencia Fletcher Anderson  Giggs
Rooney Berbatov

Come on United!

no sign of nani? Is he fit? or is giggs just playing well?

Giggsy's in decent form at the mo. Plus all the experience he brings to this type of environment could well be priceless.

That was just my guess of a lineup by the way lol. So yeh dunno if it'd be Nani or Valencia... Or ill end up eating my words and neither will start lol!
