Through to the quarters now lads. Looking at the other teams there a certainly no easy games! Hopefully Van Persie's injury is not too bad

Manchester United
A win is a win but I'm not convinced . The only thing we showed was a bit of guts which was way overdue. We are not playing good attractive football and we won't until there is a clear out at the end of the season. Hopefully RVP will be OK, but if he is not then Fellaini should play up front where he was so successful for Everton.
At least we are through to the next round even though it is very unlikely we will progress any further.

We are attempting the most crosses in the league.
...to strikers who like the ball at their feet.
Maybe Moyes' master plan is becoming evident -..fellaini is the new striker.
Kotahitanga. We are one.
Moyes is deluded if he thinks we can win the champions league.

He kind of has to say that though doesn't he? I'm not sure who your best draw is on Friday...
RVP out for a month and Bayern in the champions league. First leg at home. Good chance we will have about 30-35% possession. I can't see any way to win this over 2 legs and can easily visualise a 6-7 nil aggregate loss.
Having said that, I reckon our best chance is to go for broke in the first leg. I would love to see a front four of Rooney wellbeck januzaj and nani; with chica as the sub.
Kotahitanga. We are one.
As mentioned before, he should put Fellaini up front where he was so good for Everton.
As you say, nothing to lose. Expect to get pumped by at least 5 over the twp legs.

Two wins on the trot. Wow.

Heard game was dire apart from rooney's goal. Best thing apparently was interplay between Rooney kagawa mata - who played centrally - finally!

Not looking forward to the City game on Tuesday. Just hope we don't get smashed.
Rumour has it that if City don't win the league then Pellegrini is out and Rodgers is in.
If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid
Agreed. City have it all to play for, besides it being the derby. Can believe pellegrini out rumour (madness though, he's done ok) but can't believe Rodgers rumour. He's got Liverpool humming. Could build something with them over next year or three, and then next move could be Spain or Germany.
Kotahitanga. We are one.
Enjoyed watching a bit of one touch football through the middle of the park from United between Mata, Kagawa, Fellaini and Rooney. Thought Carrick wasn't the worst at the back and good to see Fletcher back.
It looks like being a massive ask against City though.
Still interesting to see if this Moyes team ends up playing football despite itself.
Not really a fan of Ashley Young. This can't have been his best game.
Did Ashley Diver play? City win, be interesting how the fans react. Silence or anti Moyes?
The Ruf, The Ruf, The Ruf is on Fire!!

No to your first question. I'm not anti Moyes but he plays some guys out of position and he plays some that would not get a game anywhere else. No doubt City were the better side but really poor defending cost Utd. All young defenders should watch how not to defend--- just look at Rio. Ball watches and lets players run past him.
The most amusing comments are from some Arsenal supporters who seem to still be paranoid about us. Should be worried about not getting caught by Everton.

Re: Utd fans being prevented from taking down the "chosen one" banner at the Stretford End, which was put up after Moyes was appointed. This was from a poster on the Telegraph site. Is this true?
"Technically not the fans but a man called Andrew Kilduff, Onwer of SEF (Stretford End Flags), This man is a self appointed spokesperson for the MUFC fans. He lives out of the Glazers pocket and is a self proclaimed voice for the United faithful. The fans can't take down the property because of this self righteous individual being in with the crowd at Old Trafford. I personally wasn't at the game tonight as I'm living in Australia now, but the lads have all been saying that there were security blocking people in Stretford End Tier Two from taking down the flag. Ridicilous."
This was funny:
"Thine, and ye Leagues, most successful manager ever andst now a frail,
old man, harangued and goaded by ye supporters? Thou ought to hang thine
plastic heads in shayme!"

I like Moyes, I think he will be like Fergusson. Give him 3 seasons to see what he can do. None of this panic reaction crap. Sadly Uniteds die hard fans that are used to winning at least one trophy per season are getting testy when they find that the club of messiahs is just another club like the rest.
Real Man United fans will stick with them throu the thick and the thin just like every one else does with their team. I think this could be a good charactor builder and it will show some players up for what they are. Money grabbers and not as good as they think they are. When you are surrounded by talent, it is easy to look good and deceive.
Heads down and work harder. Remember Fergusson had a big say in whom was going to replace him. He see something in Moyes. United fans need to keep their faith. So what? You've had one shit season in 23, big fucken deal.

LG you are so right. Have been a supporter for more years than I care to remember. I still followed them when they got relegated and will always do so. They have had a shocker of a season but regardless of that they will be back, next year, the following year, whatever. They probably needed this ( as you say- character building) to get rid of players that have sat on the arse for years. Rio is one of the most overrated players that we have ever had and yet he has deceived quite a few people on the way. He is not alone.
By the way, we have won a trophy this season , The Community Shield, but it will be a while before we win another. I guess we can leave that up to Chelsea and City.
If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid
One could suggest that this season has given united fans a taste of what everyone else who's team is outside of the top 6 Premier League sides, experiences nearly every other year. Imagine how Sunderland, West Brom, Leicester, Burnley, QPR fans feel, promotion/relegation etc etc.
The Ruf, The Ruf, The Ruf is on Fire!!
Well, at least United fans can console themselves that they haven’t bought their way to success, eh?Indeed, when you look at the two line-ups in Tueday’s one-sided derby, it is clear the Reds have been spending their way to mediocrity – their starting XI at Old Trafford cost £181m, and a superior City team cost £168m.
There are some staggering statistics which suggest that when it comes to Sir Alex Ferguson’s old mantra of ‘value for money’, City have been streets ahead of United in recent years.
Rio Ferdinand cost almost half as much again as the entire Blues defence, including Joe Hart. Marouane Fellaini cost more than Yaya Toure, David Silva and Samir Nasri, who weaved such elegant patterns around the floundering Belgian.
Juan Mata’s £37m fee overshadows the £30m City shelled out for the outstanding Fernandinho – a fee which some dismissed as over-priced at the time. No longer – the Brazilian has been a huge factor in taking City to the next level.
The Blues have been accused of ruining football, yet the evidence against United is there for all to see.
Spending record amounts on players is what inflates the transfer market, and United’s team on Tuesday included players who represent English record fees for a goalkeeper, defender and teenager. Even more daunting for the Reds is the amount of investment in players they need to achieve parity with a City team which will strengthen again this summer.
They might also consider that the Sheikh’s broad-based investment means City’s superiority goes much deeper than the first team.
The Blues are also better at every level below the first team – and that is acknowledged by Reds coach Phil Neville and their striker Robin van Persie, whose own sons are in the Blues academy.
Of course, youth development is an uncertain area, but there are far more prospects in the City set-up – both English and foreign – than there are at Carrington.
The money ploughed into developing the academy and its facilities, which will blossom into the crowning achievement of the Etihad Campus next year, is likely to be Sheikh Mansour’s greatest legacy to City, to Manchester and to English football.
Anyone who thinks that is over-blowing the facts should know that the Blues’ academy is largely stocked by local boys.
The flippant accusation levelled at City since Sheikh Mansour’s take-over is that their rise is somehow artificial, buoyed up by unearned money, and that it is all a little tasteless.
It is utter bunkum, of course. The investment from Abu Dhabi has been a good one – the motive was to boost the name of the emirate, and its state airline Etihad, and the association with City has done just that.
Etihad’s profits have surged since 2008, and the association with this classy City team enhances the airline’s reputation, while Abu Dhabi is now on the map as a tourist destination – something in which City have also played a big part. It is laughable United fans criticise a major investment by City’s owners which has been hugely beneficial to both parties, while the Reds’ owners have plunged their club into debt.
It is even dafter that Uefa thinks Sheikh Mansour’s investment, a huge boost to football and the community in Manchester, needs investigating under the Fair Play system, while the plunder of United is not.
Of course it is dangerous to dismiss United – they remain a great club with a big global standing. But it is City who are setting the pace in
Manchester now, and the Reds are limping along in their wake.
Interesting view point. It does highlight some poor purchasers as well as players purchased 12/13 yrs ago that are no longer in their prime. Those players have been good value for money, e.g. Rio has won a lot of titles (14, maybe more than any current City player may ever win at the club), but are no longer at that standard. When you look at net spend since Sheikh Mansour took over in 2008 it is ~479million pounds and Utd's is ~137million pounds, yet Utd have won twice as many titles in the same period. Since the beginning of the EPL, Utd's net transfer spend is 295million pounds while City's is 571million pounds. Up until now, which has been better spent? Is it also interesting to point out that last season City spent 40million pounds more on wages than Utd, and 20 million more the season before?
In regards to ownership, the Glazers have been a financial anchor on the club to the tune of 680million pounds since their takeover in '05 'til 12/13 season. Whereas in the first 4 years of owning City, Sheikh Mansour had spent(propped up) 565million pounds (out of 930million spent by City as a whole, ~363million generated by their own operations)

7 months in the job. one trophy. Wenger - 9 years without zip. lol

Even weirder- City are clearly a better team in better form, and Fergusson lost this fixture for the last two years. Losing against the best team in the league like you've done for the last two seasons is the end of you as a manager? Bonkers.
Now on the other hand if you were expected to challenge for the title and conceded say, six goals, having only brought in a borked player in the window when you needed to find real back up for Aaron Ramsey...

A good result but we were awful in the first half. Much improved in the second but Villa missed a couple of chances.

If you're going to count a pre-season cup as a trophy then Wenger has won several over the past nine years.
Funny that you have disappeared since you got smashed. Bet you have been on holiday. lol
Not talking about 2 match series in Asia or USA. Get a life.
So Arsenal winning the same trophy 12 times counts for nothing.

Funny that out of all the die hard Man United fans theres only about 4 on this thread. Yet when you were winning everything in site, they were everywhere. As I have said before, you find out the true fans when things dont go a cording to plany. Respect to the few that do still post here, but to those who dont = plastic fans.

Your opinion is fair enough LG but equally there are fans on other club threads that disappear as well when their team get flogged.
