Good game. Thought United played really well and today they actually put away their chances. All goals great goals. Good to see Schweiny have some game time. And wow how United has missed two wingers full of energy (Martial and Mikhi). I think those two are probably our best players tbh. Build a team around them.

Again though, a ref absolutely bottles a big decision:

If Zlatan's footed was planted that is easily broken leg material.

Should have scored 6. Have been saying for months that Mikhi should be starting. A fantastic player.

Rooney looked like he did years ago.

All the press bashing Utd makes me laugh. We have won two trophies at Wembley this year.

Press bashing? Mourinho's had a pretty easy ride I thought. Worse record than van Gaal and Moyes to start the season, but waaaay less grief in the media.

A primary schoolteacher explains to her class that she is a Liverpool fan. She asks her students to raise their hands if they too, are Liverpool fans. Everyone in the class raises their hand except one little girl.
The teacher looks at the girl with surprise and says,
"Mary, why didn't you raise your hand?
"Because I'm not a Liverpool fan, " she replied.
The teacher, still shocked, asked, "Well if you are not a Liverpool fan, then who are you a fan of?
"I am a Man Utd fan and proud of it, " Mary replied.
The teacher could not believe her ears. "Mary, why are you a Man Utd fan? "
"Because my mum is a United fan, and my dad is a United fan, so I'm a United fan too!"
"Well, " said the teacher in an obviously annoyed tone, "that is no reason for you to be a United fan. You don't have to be just like your parents all of the time. What if your mum was a prostitute and your dad was a drug addict, what would you be then?
Mary smiled, and said...............
"then I'd be a Liverpool fan"

Fantastic away point at Goodison. Really showing the mettle of a side capable of staying in this division.

I have to agree with Mourinho's post match comments on defensive football he has come up against as well. I mean it's not like he's built a whole career on it or anything.

Three for me, and two for them.

Fellaini continues to be an embarrassment to the club. This isn't the first time this season we've thrown Fellaini on in the dying minutes of a game we were in fudgeing control of to then go and throw it away.

Seriously the guy can't play football. Get rid of him. Mourinho takes the whole blame for this one. We have fantastic players rotting away for a traffic cone. Embarrassing substitution.

We've dropped 7 points in the last ten minutes of games this year. I reckon Mourinho takes the blame for all of them. His substitutions have been horrific.

Atrocious refereeing sees United score a goal that was a (maybe) a handball + offside, Rojo survive a two footed challenge, Crystal palace player handball in the box (nothing given), and finally a perfectly legitimate Mata goal disallowed.

Laughable stuff.

You kinda would say it all evens out in the end - but being consistently in consistent is worse.

United looked like they still have that little bit of LvG in them, not wanting to take that extra risk to create that extra chance. Plus the finishing hasn't been very good at all

It was not very good. FWIW I thought Rojo was lucky to not be sent off, was a terrible challenge.

He got booked for the intent--he never touched Zaha.

It was reckless.

By cowardly responding to me in a different thread you've sent this one off-topic, but no matter, I'll just paste the actual paragraph here to give proper context of how it was said;

"We need to focus on our own form and basically forget about the table for now - a loss away to Koeman, a known banana skin for us in recent years, and an unlucky loss at Man City, are hardly major issues. It's about how we respond - the next 6 league games are all very winnable, I think this stretch is going to tell the real story. 5 or 6 wins and we're well in it. Another loss or two, or a few draws, and that will probably put us too far out, and we'll be in a top four scrap for the rest of the season."

Our second half performance should rightly be criticised, and we did not deserve to win the game.

But I still consider it unlucky simply because both sides scored an offside goal each, but only ours was disallowed, and we ended up losing by one goal.

Cowardly....Diddums  .....LOL    You are always making snide comments on your thread about us.

I actually wanted you to win and I have watched the game twice and you were NOT unlucky at all. In the first 15 mins and the last 10 mins you looked OK. The two ex Arsenal full backs had very good games. Toure was the difference. Your midfield never got a look in. Too many passes were given away.City chased everything and you guys did not. The fact that City put out a weak side( that is if they have such a thing) is a worry for the rest of the teams.

You don't get it Leggy. I agree with you entirely in that we were poor overall in the match. I didn't say we didn't deserve to lose.

I just said we were unlucky on the simple basis that both teams scored an offside goal, theirs was allowed to stand, ours wasn't, and we lost by one goal.

I won't repeat it again as I don't think you're even reading what I say to be honest.

Pogba rubbish. Probably time to forget the hairdos and hashtags and refocus himself.

Everyone is on about how good Fellaini was today. Yes he had a part in the goal but that was only after he fluffed 10 or so attacks. Then we fluffed the next 20 aimlessly trying to boot it in the general direction of his head.

The reffing has been absolutely shocking against us this season anyhow, we're "owed" more than that.

I read earlier that you've scored 9 offside goals overall this season, and if none had been allowed you'd be in the bottom half of the table.

I haven't personally seen all those goals so I can't 100% validate that, but I have seen 4 clear reds not given (2x Rojo and 2x Pogba) this season, which is pretty lucky too.

I'm not saying you haven't had any bad refereeing decisions of course, I'm sure you have, but I would be interested to see some analysis around how many points gained versus dropped due to refereeing mistakes in your matches.

2 red cards for Pogba?

Also, it is swings and roundabouts, maybe there have been more in our favour at the moment, but there has also been times we have had more against us. Probably in equal doses, so I am not going to complain about refereeing,. They are in and out of form just like any player.

The difficulty with creating stats and wins / losses based on refereeing decisions is that they are rarely in the last minute of a game and therefore there is more football to play. One decision doesn't mean you win or you don't. They might impact your chances, but not definitively.

A team might become disciplined and counter attacking after a red card and benefit from that, or the team may be spurred on, or even demotivated by an offside goal or disallowed goal.

Its a very narrow minded analysis. No other sport complains about the referee as much

Off the top of my head West Ham should have had two reds against us in separate games, City similar. Neverlone the valid goals we have scored that have been disallowed (such as Zlatan's "high foot").

All swings and roundabouts eh.

I suppose from a subjective stand point if we could finish our chances we would have won those games anyway.

A lot of these stats mean zip. The average football supporter  could care less how many shots hit the post etc. The only thing that actually counts is the result.

Pogba with the two head wrenches - Henderson this morn, and was it Allen last time? Not sure.

Great points about trying to measure the impact of bad calls.
