Szczesny's accent is much-discussed on some of the blogs out there.

It's a polish/cockney mix. They say he accentuates the london twang on purpose. Either way, it's hilarious.

I think it's awesome, shows he's diving into the culture! RE Coquellin, massive fail on my part I already knew that!

Gundogan would be a fantastic signing for us, definitely worth the 20m.

Suarez saga looks like it'll get nasty. Torres didn't force his way out and was hated. Suarez forcing his way out will leave a very bitter taste in the fans mouths!

Gundogan is outrageously good. So obviously going to become one of the top midfielders in the world. 20m would be a steal (in relation to how much footballers are valued in today's world, anyway)

Yeah, they have lost Goetze in the off season so will be keen to keep Gundogan. Also managed to hold on to Lewandowski so I think they are determined not to let this team break up. Plus, a good season by Bundesliga clubs in Europe this season and they could be above the EPL in UEFA coefficient ranking - which might be a little bit of bragging rights for the league still can't compete with the $ of top few clubs in EPL.

So suarez has done a van persie and made a public statement that he's outies - well, not quite the same, but still, his position in the side is now pretty much untenable

He's been ordered to train alone. Now it's all about whether any other team comes in for him - otherwise I'd say he's ours, probably right on the deadline.

Big question is, who else are we looking at? All i see is trials with randoms, who we guna buy? Hows about that fellaini release clause Arsene?

Yes. I miss him. He's a brute who can cover CB while dinking balls in behind the defence for Giroud to punish home. Shouldn't have let him go.

Fabregas the year later and all of a sudden Barca becomes our finishing school :P

EDIT: But seriously he can't be happy though? Only playing 20 matches, and all at CB? He's wasted and not good enough to break that Barca 3.

my opinion based on emotion... we needed his departure like we needed a kick in the nads, i felt like he really let us down, a bitter pill that went half unnoticed because of rvp - same with clichy a little bit

wenger really made song's career, moreso than a lot of others who've been through like van persie, nasri etc

loyalty is dead and buried in football

Song hurt the most because I didn't see it coming. That said I'd still take him back.

I really like these guys, lots of data to make their calls. The only thing I disagree with in that article is starting Ramsey in front of Jack and Arteta, I'd switch them.

Will be interesting to see who he starts as our midfield 3, regardless of additions.

I hope we get Pacos de Ferreira or Metalist Kharkiv purely for selfish reasons as tickets may be easier to get for the 2nd leg when I'm over there. The others are more of a drawcard.

Roma sign Gervinho, not really bothered about this.

I don't rate Gervinho, but he still contributed last season.

As it stands, we have a weaker squad than last year. Spuds have strengthened. Not looking good at all.

Probably the biggest fudge-up of a transfer window for us in recent memory.

Song was no great loss. Overrated player. Arteta has shown how his role should be played.

Song definitely lacked positional awareness and discipline - two things very important for a DMF. Arteta excels in those areas. Particularly when it comes to covering the fullbacks - something Song was hopeless at.

Permalink Permalink
over 12 years ago · edited about 5 years ago · History

People always bring up Song's assists - his chips over the top etc. - that wasn't his job. At all. He's a freakin DM. Sure, every now and then an opportunity pops up to play someone through - but he was always marauding forward and leaving a huge hole at the back. It's no surprise we looked more solid last year.

F365 reported we agreed personal terms for Higuain but didn't bid because we were pursuing Suarez...if that's the case then that's a major cock up in my opinion. Get Higuain deal over the line and IF Suarez becomes an option we nab him. If not, it doesn't matter because we have a quality marquee signing to start the season with.

Also great bit by Sarah Winterburn on why we need a fridge rather than a flash telly.

https://www.football365.com/f365-says/8861031/F365-Says

Also Henry saying they won't sell Suarez, deal off? Or will we force it through? How can you say you won't sell a player who is just awful for team moral and wants out?

The papers over here have all said that the Higuain deal was basically done but then Real Madrid changed the asking price and so Arsene backed out.

Miguel to Leicester for a season long loan. Our CB options just became even more thinner though I guess we do have Sagna as cover.

Permalink Permalink
over 12 years ago · edited about 5 years ago · History

Wenger must be extremely confident of defensive and defensive midfield signings considering he's loaned out Miquel and Coquelin now, and Monreal/Vermaelen/Frimpong are all injured.

You have to say that if no one comes in as defensive cover it would be a monumental f*ck up. We surely must have a plan.

Chamakh having a medical at Crystal Palace

Bendtner possibly a swap with Jesus Gamez, right back from Malaga

Although both would be awesome outcomes, the overall squad numbers are dropping big time!

As you've said Paulm we've thinned out with Djourou, Miquel, Coquellin all out and Squillaco released. 3 CBS (1injured)

And 4 full backs (1 currently injured) spells trouble!

More deadline day antics? I sure hope so. Last season we got Giroud, Cazirla, and Podolski, this year we need 2 of those quality in

Midfield/defence and we'll be good.

Btw this is an awful form on a mobile!

I notice that last season's kit is being referred to as 12/14 home kit now on arsenal.com - so there is no new home shirt this year (it is last year of nike deal?)
