Apprently we are in discussions with Guita the Valencia keeper, again what is wrong with Begovic or Cesar????

Wenger has seen them plenty up close and they are proven in the Premier League!!

Gibbs, Sagna, and Monreal all likely available for tomorrow morning...fingers crossed they're properly backed...not just being rushed back!

Guita is good from all reports - seems like it'd be a good signing. Signing from another prem team, you will always pay a premium. I don't think Begovic or Cesar are as good as people are hyping them up to be.

Apparently we've "enquired" whether Shrek would consider a move to the Emirates.

Good news on the injury front this morn.

Ox looking like closer to 6 weeks than 6 months.

Monreal back is massive for us, that means all our fullbacks are fit, including Gibbs and Sagna. That means that only TV5 is still out injured in the defence. We need one more body in there before the window closes, but it's not looking as dire as it was a couple of days ago. Shows how light we are on CBs - only one injured yet Sagna will be playing there this weekend.

This is why I don't understand the coqullin decision. He's a growing DMF, and can cover full back positions as he's done before. I still reckon he was one of our best players on the pitch in the 8-2 game.

ox out for 6 weeks is still very bad, having him and walcott attacking down the wings was going to be a huge benefit for us.

Yea I really liked the look of him in that first half. We should still be alright though with Poldi and Cazorla to man the left side. Different players though, won't have the pace there that we have down the right.

Shows that Arsene sees this as the break-through year for the Ox though - starting him in the first game. Although part of it was probably about keeping Poldi fresh for Fener tomorrow. He's the sort of player we want starting in the tough away fixtures - experienced, tough, good finisher under pressure.

The Ox himself has tweeted:

"Gutted i'm injured so early in the season. But I'm going to be working hard to hopefully be back playing in 3 months. Thanks 4 all ur support"

6 weeks sounded a very quick turnaround for cruciate ligament

Begovic oozes confidence, I personally think he is class and if I were Liverpool I would have gone for him over Mignolet and I like Mignolet too.

As for Julio, he is a champ, he roughed it at QPR behind absolutley shocking defence once Ryan Nelsen left, their defending was consistently shambolic, like watching a comedy and he kept pulling off saves and kept them in games (as best he could).
We could grab him for 5 mil, yes he will probably command close to 100k per week, but money is no problem as Gazidis and Wenger both keep saying......

BREAKING NEWS: Wenger finally signs someone

lineup for this morn;

Szczesny, Sagna, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Gibbs, Ramsey, Wilshere, Walcott, Rosicky, Cazorla, Giroud

No Podolski, that's two bench appearances for him so far. Strong side though - that's pretty much our strongest eleven during our run-in last season aside from Arteta. But Wilshere was carrying an injury and not starting back then so we shouldn't lose much.

3-0, with some great goals.

Downsides for me was Kosc injury (he's got this weekend off anyway!) and Poldi not looking sharp when he came on...

The way AVB is spending cash it's going to come from somewhere, and he clearly isn't staying.

Willian will bring it to about ~90million - about the rumoured transfer fee for Bale. And then rumoured to be signing the youngster Lamela from Roma (you guys are rumoured to be interested too) and another Belgian international in Alderweireld. So their net spend could be somewhere between about 10million and have brought in Soldaldo, Paulinho, Chadli, Capoue, Willian, Lamela and Alderweireld. Wenger should be taking notes.

Why would RM let Benzema he is their ONLY striker outside of Morata!

I recently posted all of their midfielders/wingers, they need to shed 1 or 2 clearly as they have so many that will get frustrated on the pine, I can see Di Maria will go for sure, whether it is us who the hell knows.

Wenger is quoted as saying we will bring in 1 midfielder so that should be Cabaye, hopefully we get Di Maria as the left winger we need

Yeah totally agree, have seen some deluded Spurs fans thinking this haul of players is to complement the squad including Bale.
He is clearly going

As far as a ok quality squad player I am stoked Flamini is close to signing as he covers two critical gaps DMF and RB.

He is a known quantity and by all reports he just wants to get one with it rather than flirt with other leagues/teams as he has got that out if his system lol

Flamani and Hleb should never have left

poor career choices

3-0 in Instanbul, Hail Wenger, that is a mighty fine result

wingers/strikers let there be no more talk of , unless we get DM, CB, and GK first.

Hardly the big name signing but Flamini would be a fairly sensible decision. Should easily integrate into the side, already been training with them, and he covers positions we are in need of filling. With Sagna needing to fill in at CB over the next little while he can also provide extra FB cover, should Jenkinson go down. Sign him til the end of the season I say.

Spurs will be worse than last season once Bale departs. None of their signings are proven in England, and most of them seem over-priced, particularly Soldado. We're obviously aiming a bit higher than that (and failing thus far!).

I do wonder why we weren't interested in Capoue given all the rumours linking him with us over the past 1-2 years, have to assume there must be a reason Arsene wasn't bidding. Perhaps we're just holding out for Kondogbia instead - he did start the last French game ahead of Capoue.

Man we need to sign a CB asap. Arseblog reckons we should rest Kosc for Fener next week so he's back ok for the Spurs game - but that means playing the Sack and Sagna as CBs for 2 more games in the next week, disaster waiting to happen. We can't even throw in Miquel as he's gone on loan - there's simply no one else in our squad to play CB.

If we don't bring in a CB we have to recall Djourou or Miquel.

Wenger has categorically said he'll sign, and that the transfer window starts now. 11 days to go. Bring it on, lots of business to be done.

Do they even have an option to recall those players, I'm sure HSV and Leicester have paid some dosh to have those players for the season.

They need a CB, CM (Flamini), winger (perhaps tom ince?) and a striker

I realistically cant see us getting both di maria and benzema, maybe di maria if they get bale. but we need to stength out mid and def stocks. flamini should be an easy choice, we could do worse, correct that, we have done worse.

also heard this one liner for a sp*rs fan today

"wenger keeps defending his transfer policies, however, dont you need to make a transfer to have a policy?"

cheap shot, but i giggled.

Yeah.. I'd say no. I don't know why we let Miquel go on loan in the first place.

Anyway, can see Di Maria coming in for ~20m and Podolski leaving to Schalke. He doesn't look happy.

It is kinda funny that wenger is taking so much stick right now about being useless with signings, when his transfer record destroys pretty much every other manager in the EPL. What other club has had so many world class players through the door without ever paying more than 15mil for anyone?

Arsene Wenger with 100mil in his pocket for the first time ever should be a pretty scary proposition for our rivals in reality.

ManU have 3 more points right now than they did this time last year, and that's with essentially the exact same squad minus their entire coaching staff and Wayne Rooney. So they're forging ahead just fine despite doing worse than Arsenal in this transfer window.

Well, I don't think they will win the title by 11 points this season with their main competition for the title strengthening. I would say their transfer dealings have been ok, comparing to last season they have Zaha (yes Jan purchase) and Varela in and Fabio back and only got rid of youth/second string. The squad is large with depth in all positions if lacking depth in quality in midfield.
Arsene has gutted the Arsenal team which means that transfers in are more crucial for Arsenal than Man Utd.

..It's been one game.

And plus, their squad was far stronger than ours to begin with. Hence why they won the league.

Geoffrey Kondogbia would be a god send of a signing. A DMF who can play CB.

Also why would we flick off Podolski? He's seemed happy during pre-season, although it did seem odd not to start him either match?!

I wasn't comparing our transfer aspirations with Manchester United's, I was just responding to the old "standing still = going backwards" cliche by pointing out that ManU have essentially stood still yet are just as capable of winning the title as they were last season.

A team with experience playing together is often stronger than a team more talented but only recently assembled.
