love this comment from espnfc;

" ...Podolski smashed a left-footed shot high into the roof of the net. Manuel Neuer didn't get near it -- had he done so, he might well have been decapitated."

the thing with ryo was werid... heres goal.com's take on it

"In a rather farcial episode, Arsenal had to withdraw young winger Ryo Miyaichi from their matchday squad to face Bayern Munich on Tuesday after it emerged that the Japan international was ineligible for the Champions League.

As the 21-year-old had been at the club for over three years and was the right age, the Gunners had assumed that he did not have to be registered. But, due to his loan spells at Feyenoord, Wigan and Bolton, he had not spent the necessary time at the club to qualify"

seems odd to me, but apparently the same thing got AC Milan. doesnt matter now, but does explain why we had 6 on the bench today

I have an amazing ability to find my way out of mazes. I'm pathological.

Some won't like this but I fully agree, we have a chance at the Cup and still a shot at the title, our injuries are continuing to mount......

Remy today saying thanks to Newcastle and making noises about joining a bigger club

Getting back to this season, with the injuries to Ozil, Ramsey, Wilshere, the Kallstrom pick up might be a good one for light relief over coming games, if he himself is indeed returning from injury lol

classy stuff from the bayern fans

That's pretty weak from those fans. Wenger's reasoning was that he wasn't placed on the list in case we sent him out on loan again. When he stayed we didn't go back and fix things up...bit like Moss getting shafted at the W/Cup due to admin issues.

I reckon it's fair game by the Bayern fans and nothing wrong with it, next you can't sing songs with swear words? It's just taking the mickey out of the banner at ours, similar to the cringeworthy "Welcome to Arsenal signs" for the yid fans earlier this year.

The Ox was my MOM against Bayern, a good performance and leaves us confident going into the big run of games. Looking forward to the big one this Monday morning and personally I'd like to see Santi take Ozils place and the Ox out wide

Don't know what world you're living in but that sort of homophobic carry-on isn't tolerated these days, as evidenced by the fine they're likely to cop;

what arsenal banner are you talking about that this is apparently a response to?

Disappointed but not surprised City got kicked out by Barca, would be good to have City and Chelsea still going in the competition.

I don't agree with the fine at all. How is it homophobic? Milan fans stupidly got a fine also for singing songs about Napoli fans when telling them to clean up as it was deemed "racist". It's obviously meant to be a laugh and at least the Germans can still take things lightly.

Just interested to know why you would want a draw. We are 11 points behind you and no chance of catching you. Liverpool are on the same points. If it were Utd in your position I would be hoping for Liverpool to lose so we could go ahead of them.

Wow. The old "don't take things so seriously" chestnut ay. Just to save time let's just whip through "you shouldn't complain, it could be much worse", "I'm entitled to my homophobic opinion" and something (anything) about political correctness. Save your breath mate.

Wikipedia:
Homophobia encompasses a range of negative attitudes and feelings toward homosexuality or people who are identified or perceived as being lesbiangaybisexual or transgender (LGBT)

Some arsenal fans showed pride in the fact they were gay, some bayern fans ridiculed them by showing a banner of ozil getting f*cked up the arse by a cannon, and you think that's all good? Wow.
You better get back in that time machine and head back to the 50's sir.

UG I'd email the club using their contact us details. I got a response after 48 hours when trying to get tickets for a match so they do respond.

Alternatively we could all start tweeting the players?

I'd prefer United to win personally based on the same logic as Leggy's put forward.
Additionally I forgot Sp*rs were playing Europa today, the extra day's recovery should be the difference. Ramsey definitely not back in time, Kallstrom a maybe for the match day squad, and both Gibbs & Monreal have a shot too. Sanogo is back in full training too, while Bednter is unzipping his pants and grinding taxi's in Coppenhagen.

Spurs are absolutely terrible atm. If we don't win on Sunday I will be gutted.

re: manU/spurs, I think I'd like a draw.

Although ManU look like they can't catch us, with our upcoming draw you just never know. The last thing we want is a morale-boosting win for them over a direct rival to kick-start their run-in. Despite them being so crap there are plenty of good players there, a mental boost is all they'd need to go on a good run.

Same goes for Spurs really, so in my opinion a draw would ensure neither side comes out with any extra confidence.

Incidentally, spurs just lost 3-1 at home to Benfica, despite starting a very strong side. Bodes well for Sunday.

Haven't seen it yet but apparently Benfica's manager showed Sherwood the score with his fingers, walcott style, causing sherwood to lose it, hilarious!!!!

The Benfica manager started waving to the Tottenham bench when they got the third as well, love it.

Massive game Monday morning. Hopefully Utd get up to beat the Red Mickeys just before and a win to keep us on track

gibbs probably short but apparently monreal may be fit

ozil out for three to six weeks

ramsey setback, probably a few weeks away now, but arsene was his usual cryptic self on that

sorry lads haven't found the time to do my trawling for a proper 'injury update'

my spurs lineup;

                     Szczesny

Sagna-Mertesacker-Koscielny-Monreal

                  Flamini-Arteta

            Ox-Rosicky-Cazorla

                        Giroud

Hope to see Ox running at their makeshift backline all day long...

Permalink Permalink
about 12 years ago · edited about 5 years ago · History

I hope to see Cazorla in behind Giroud as he is a goal scoring threat, with Ozil's confidence shattered prior to the injury it might work better for the attacking third having another body anchored centrally with a powerful/accurate shooting ability.

Ox - Cazorla - Podolski

         Giroud

A good mixture of speed, creativity and goals!

Agreed with the team though, still strong considering the injuries.

My money is on Rosicky/Cazorla/Ox/Podolski. with Arteta behind . I think its likely we will be more attacking focused. 4-5-1

Any which way we should be able to put out plenty enough firepower for these muppets, just gotta bring enough attitude and swagger to deal with them

On the Chelsea loss both Ramirez and Willian suspended for next week. We've got to go to the bridge and get 3 points. A win tonight and a draw/Liverpool loss tomorrow and we're back in 2nd with a sniff.

I want united to win against Liverpool, which is just a weird sensation. hopefully it only last this weekend or i might have to get myself checked out.

Great win in the end. Superb goal from Rosicky. Had to graft for it but those are the kind of wins you need to be in a genuine title race.

Three for me, and two for them.

Big result, very happy with the way we defended against relentless pressure.

We could have held onto the ball a bit better though...
