That doesn't really fly given City have only had 3/4 seasons with big $$, and Chelsea and United have opted for transfers and debt rather than developing youth. Arsenal's been a project for Wenger, not an annual shot at the title, and to view the success of the last 10 years through trophies then you're missing the point.
I imagine in 10 years time Arsenal will look back at this previous 10 years as the period that defined the next 100, a sustanable business model based on youth that gets results.

Wenger's greatest contribution to the game could be providing a model of youth development and sustainability which Brendan Rodgers could then take and develop into one which does those things but also wins trophies. Definitely something to be proud of.

1000 games. Quite a remarkable achievement.
I'm sure wums like Bullion are just gagging to come in here and discredit Wenger. Should he have won a few cups in the past 9 years? Yes. But he has been able to keep us near the top for years, whilst paying off the stadium debt. And he has done so because he loves the club.
Would be great if he can finally beat Mourinho in this landmark game.
Three for me, and two for them.
A couple of decent facts:
Before Wenger, Arsenal recorded 23 top four finishes in 92 seasons. They are about to make it 18 out of 18 under him....#Wenger1000
He will also have a higher win percentage from his 1,000 games than Fergie had in his first 1,000 (and more goals scored too).

What sort of backhanded compliment is that? Please don't mention Brendan fudgeing Rodgers in the same breath as Wenger lol.

Pure trolling lol. As you were.

wow very interesting stat re: wenger's first 1000 games vs fergie's.
ManU fans more than anyone should realise right now how tough it is to consistently make the top 4. Title winning squad + Mata/Fellaini/Janujaz and they can't do it (barring an arsenal-esque miracle run-in of course). It's tough to keep doing it year in year out. Chelsea and Spurs have both had higher net spends than us and haven't managed it consistently in the same period.
Makes it even more unbelievable when you look at the fact that we lost one, two, sometimes even three of our very best players every season up until 2013/14, due to those financial constraints.
Now that we have the money to retain our best on salaries to the equal of other big clubs, i expect far more pressure on wenger to win trophies over the next few seasons.
But that's by the by right now. Congrats Arsene. Marry me.
wow what a clusterf*ck this is
cant believe what im seeing
Surely it's too high profile for Gibbs' suspension to not be rescinded? It's crazy though right. But on that point, if Ox never received a red card in that match, can he be given the suspension? Who knows what will happen. He was clearly saying, along with half of the Arsenal team, that it was him who should be getting sent - but Mariner wanted none of it.
From the BBC
Arsenal may get that card changed. In November, Preston of League One had the wrong man sent off against Port Vale - retrospectively, striker Joe Garner was suspended for three games despite midfielder Neil Kilkenny being shown the red card during the match.

I was going to make the same point actually - it's insane. If ever it's a good time to pair Arteta with Flamini it was this game. The first two goals showed that perfectly, just no one protecting the back four. It's all a bit late now though. Here's a thought about pre game tactics, quoted from a post on Arsenal-Land forums.
"On occasion of Arsene's 1000th game, there's a short interview with Moritz Volz in the Spiegel magazine today. He said that Wenger gears every training towards the own game, not towards the opponent. Preparations and tactical discussions before a game last only three minutes, because Wenger only says who starts and who is on the bench and that's it.
This was all known before, but in a game like this the (lack of) tactical preparation becomes more evident than ever."
I don't agree with that approach whatsoever.
Oh well, FA Cup right?! :)
WTF 6-0?? Come on guys, I was wanting your loty or Liverpool to win it this year. Very disappointing.
Gave up at 3-0, that was bitterly disappointing.
1) Why were we playing such a high line against a team that loves to press and counter attack?
2) Why do our full backs CONSISTENTLY get caught out? In the first 2 goals Sagna and Gibbs were no where to be seen.
3) Why the f*ck did Flamini not start? He was MIA for the Liverpool and City disasters, and again for this one. (well he came on post damage being done).
4) WTF was the Ox thinking? We're already low on midfielders and he's getting an extended run in the side, so he throws his hand out to concede a penalty for a shot that wasn't necessarily going in when we're already 2-0 down and get himself suspended for the following 3 matches (assuming the FA sort out Marriners mare).
I am very glad that Wenger has come out and taken responsibility for this, because he did not manage this team well.
This month was going to seperate the men from the boys, and we looked like bloody children out there.
