Apart from Cech, we haven't done much but saying that, our injury free squad (apart from Welbeck) is quite impressive looking. I think Wenger will get someone on deadline day.

Looking forward to this season more than I have done for years. Must be time to start the tipping thread again.

Am going away on holiday next month though and looks like there will be 3 games in that time. Have checked Hola and PLP work on our windows tablet so will take that and hope hotel WIFI is good enough, and that the other half won't get too annoyed by me watching a game in bed!

Righto. Will sort before you leave. What day is exodus?

Reckon you're probably spot on

Lord Harris reckons Arsene's got someone lined up, and that the funds are endless...

Linked to some new names today. Isco and llorente (sp?).

Can't see much life to them.

Interesting article on how we have "200 million in the bank and can buy any player" on goal.com. I wonder if the is us trying to puff up our chests a bit...

Real dumb thing to do. Even if true, coming out and saying that just means any club we are currently bargaining with will want more money.

Well f*ck me, Instagram has become the best source of transfer gossip for us so far this season.

Any thoughts on where we can watch the community shield?

Is it on here? Usually is isn't it? Must admit last year was the first time I've watched it probably since we were last in it.

Had a look at the Sky guide, and on SS1 they currently have a "TBC" slot scheduled for 11.30pm - 3.00am that night... but scheduled kick off is 2am NZ time... so no idea to be honest

ESPN have it advertised as live in Oz, so I presume in will be live in NZ.

Ahh good point I didn't check ESPN... just had another look and it's there, on ESPN, at 1.55am NZ time.

Wenger's comments around Walcott's best position were a bit cryptic yesterday, he mentioned playing on the left a bit, made me think that we might see him playing there until Sanchez is back. Based on the end of last season and what we've seen so far in pre-season, my prediction for our starting eleven vs Westham;

                           Cech

Debuchy-Mertesacker-Koscielny-Monreal

                  Cazorla-Coquelin

              Ramsey-Ozil-Walcott

                          Giroud

Ramsey and Wilshere appear to be battling for a spot on the right at the moment, and Ramsey has looked in fine form in pre-season. Coquelin for me has looked excellent again as well, the amount of interceptions that guy makes is ridiculous.

Monreal vs Gibbs and Bellerin vs Debuchy are a couple of great battles, you could toss a coin on those selections.

With the likes of Gabriel and Oxlade-Chamberlain pushing hard for starts as well we really have an excellent level of competition in the squad right now.

Squad is strong, best midfield in EPL

Low injury toll and clear defensive structure will see us go close

Plus another striker and DM. We need depth across the board - we're so close!

DM is pressing if Flamini does get sold

Pun intended?... to be fair that talk seems to have died off recently.

Not intended, but I'll take it!

I don't think we can fully trust in Arteta not getting injured, he has struggled in the last year and already had a niggle in pre-season, and Coquelin won't play every game. It's possible Wenger sees Wilshere as the third choice back-up for that role I guess, but I'm not convinced he does, going by his recent comments.

Either Flamini needs to be retained to be safe, or we need to go out and buy a good DM.

Id take the buy option. I just don't think he's appropriate back up anymore. Moving jack there would be interesting.

Still don't really want Benzema; feel like he'd upset the team dynamic a bit and he's very, very overrated by people who barely see him play - but better than not signing another striker at all.

Unless welbeck or giroud take a huge step forward. I think someone else is needed. But I think this particular signing will be done next off season. By then Rafa would have pissed everyone off at Madrid n benzema will be picked up easily.

For me the DM signing is far more critical than striker.

If our top two DM's are injured, we're down to Flamini, Wilshere out of position, or Chambers.

If our top two strikers are injured, we're down to Welbeck, Sanchez out of position, or Akpom.

I reckon the DM situation is the worst of the two!

Yea absolutely agree. Don't remember last year ox was talking himself up as a DM. so maybe that's the plan( though I've seen no signs of it). Who is out there to pick up? Schenderian(sp) has gone to manure. Calvarlho(sp) is out for 3months. Riera? Hahaha
