Any word on Joel Campbell????

With us at the training camp in austria now, as is everyone except the 3 germans

Some rumours of a loan to galatasaray, but also perhaps somewhere else in the prem

Doesn't really sound like we're that keen to keep him in the squad this season

Is that Campbell you're referring to Paul? If so, surely he'd want to be sold eh - becoming quite the journeyman at a young age.

Would love Gnabry to get a premier league loan. Southampton need players!

Read a rumour that soton might take on both Jenkinson and Gnabry on year-long loans.

That would be quite good. Koeman has been around, would be a good international manager for them to learn under.

Yes I was talking about Campbell. Reckon we should look at a loan in the prem, why not Soton as well?

Feel sorry for Soton but they must be cashed up big time now, having sold Lambert, Shaw, Chambers, Llalana and Lovren for what, combined total of approx 90 million...? that is rather massive, they must have cash lying about now then

Permalink Permalink

Yeah I'd say about 90 million. Jay Rodriguez and Schneiderlin also rumoured to be out the door. So that'd be around 7 players mostly from the first 11 gone. Hard work!

But yeah, back to Arsenal, premier league loans for Jenkinson, Gnabry and Campbell would be great news. I think if Campbell is sent of to the continent again he wouldn't be so impressed. West Ham also looking for some players, get in there.

West Ham aren't just looking for players lol

The Campbell one is interesting. Surely on the back of that world cup & his solid spell with Olympiakos we'd be hanging on to him for a season in the first team at least right? Given we don't seem to be looking into other options up front we'd be nuts to let him go.

Jenkinson off to West Ham i think......loan jenkinson,Gnabry and Sanago and keep Joel. IF we get a good solid starting DMF and once Theo returns.....we are going to be really stacked with good players. We have 2 good players in every position

We can't afford to loan Sanogo.

Schneiderlin to Spuds looking likely. Bit like the Capoue situation; I'm not too fussed.

Anyone aware of coverage options for the Emirates Cup? Normally worth watching. Looking overseas ESPN seems to be covering it, but yet to get confirmation of coverage for ESPN in NZ...

Nothing on espn listings at this stage but I'm sure I saw an ad somewhere already... maybe I'm imagining things

Maybe Pete65 posted something?

You guys must be happy drogba is back?

Haha, no doubt he'll do well back at Chelsea. Hopefully he has already scored his last goal against Arsenal in a Chelsea shirt. I don't understand why Lukaku isn't given the chance over Drogba. Well, it seems like he's on his way out anyway, and Drogba surely wouldn't come back to be 3rd choice?

Anyway, Arsenal. Being the  fact it's on ESPN, if it isn't on in NZ you would have no issues getting another stream.

Debuts for everyone I would think?

Sanchez, Ospina and Chambers have all been assigned numbers, yet Campbell hasn't, that might be suggesting he is off somewhere else.

Or he knows someone is about to be sold and is hanging out for their number, I think it is the former....

Permalink Permalink

Or he's only just back from World Cup duties and yet to choose.

Sanchez not at pre-season in Austria is lame, work permit issues keeping him in Paris or something. Frustrating to think that you drop that kind of money on a player & paperwork gets in the way of him getting to start playing with your squad.

So Chambers has been assigned 21 but was pictured wearing 5 in training...

Is Vermaelen gone then?

If yes, then we need a good CB signing asap. We can't go into the season with Kosc/Mertesacker only being backed up by a 19yo who has predominantly played RB at this level...

Love us to bid for Winston ;)

Something's up. Someone on Arsenal-Land said it was because it was such short notice, a training kit hadn't been made for Chambers. Vermaelen is injured, so the #5 was free to use. Reasonable enough?

But the Vermaelen injured part is a little disconcerting. Not like the first time someone has been 'injured' before being sold.

A new #3 will have to be bought, and agreed, would love it to be Reid. He turned down his contract extension too right?

I would be extremely surprised if Verm did not go at this point.

I don't mind verm going. Just please not the wankers at manu. And its looks like scheiderlin is off to spurs. He could have been a good player. Pity.

Let ManU have him I reckon

He's a step down on our starting two, and a step down on what ManU had before as well (ferdinand/vidic)

Reid...yes please. Especially after the pre-season he's had so far, he deserves to be with a better team ;-)

Yeah that's enough money spent for now!

I'd rather have Djourou back than Reid. Taking off my NZ cap, Reid would be a bad signing for the Arsenal. On Jenkinson it's a tough one for me. Very limited player but Arsenal through and through, probably needs a season on loan at a lower team to see if he has what it takes to make it. Joel Campbell I would sort any visa issues out right away and not think about loaning him out again.

City in the Community Shield 10 days away, the league just over two weeks away. Still can't believe we have signed the players we have and in July as well.

Nice boots!

Carvalho rumours heating up. He'd be a fantastic signing.

Edit:

Well I couldn't help it. 2 mins 47 made me chuckle.

Carvalho.

Nice to have a Community Shield game to look forward to. Remember when it used to be part of our schedule every season.

Also talk of Gnabry going on loan to Southampton. We better be careful. If we loan him there too early they'll probably sell him too.

Sign a DM, keep Vermaelen, sorted?

Permalink Permalink

I'd still like a 4th CB, unless Chambers is it. Would be silly to assume Mertesacker and Kosciely are going to manage 50 games each again and Wenger always likes to leave us short in one position. Worried it will be CB this time.

Permalink Permalink

I reckon Chambers is it.

He's 19 and 'homegrown' so falls outside of the 25-man squad limitation as well.

Astute signing.

I think we should keep Jenkinson in the squad as well if Chambers is our 4th CB. Need that depth.

Ideally a DMF can cover CB too. That's the perfect final signing, a 1st choice DMF and 4th choice CB in one tidy package. Oh and Lukaku for good measure.

Lukaku has signed for Everton.

Which means he'd probably end up at Liverpool :)

Yea great call on the DM being able to play CB brumbys.

So we're after an upgrade on Song if you will ;)

Song misses London doesn't he? ;)

Khedira to Bayern, Martinez to Arsenal (CB cover)

Khedira to Arsenal (not sure he is what we need)

Bender to Arsenal (not sure this is even a possibilty)

Schneiderlin to Arsenal (not sure he's an upgrade, didn't watch a lot of soton)

Carvalho to Arsenal (not sure he's an immediate improvement but has some raw power / skill and looks strong as an ox!)

So basically, not sure.

Do you think we will still sign a dmf? I know we need one but I feel that Arsene maybe done in the market...
