Second actually

Top equal at the time, but not like your guys gonna get that close again :)

Though am quite disgusted with Warnock's Leeds. 3 Red Cards in 3 games (could have been 4 if the ref had the balls to send off a 2nd Leeds player in 10 mins - broke Karacan's ankle.

Now Warnock is saying that he wants to bring back the fight of the Leeds of old? Does that mean they are going to sharpen their studs as well for then they go in 2 footed???

Cannot stand Warnock. Such a prick. And good on you Azevo.

As an aside- come on you Saints! (successful FM career once...)

Pompey fans get on to www.nzsale.co.nz for some great Canterbury shirt deals. $33 for, what I consider, one of the coolest shirts around (OK, so its last seasons shirt but they are still sweet deals on nice shirts).

Its no longer a problem.

Way better than the Kappa shirts this season, thanks for showing me it. Where is Karori?...

The website that you posted doesn't have the greatest of reputations.

Well done Reading, 3-1 win over Southampton, was inevitable, Southampton haven't been that great lately.

Would be pretty special to see Brighton get into th play offs then go through to the Premier league, 2 double promotions in 2 seasons. Azevo2012-04-14 10:27:56

Brighton, one of only six teams in the Championship who havent been into the Premiership or EPL
The others are:
Bristol City          Cardiff                  Doncaster           Millwall                Peterborough

Well I think thats us promoted! Despite outwardly being confident, was expecting a draw at best from the Southampton game.

Just relieved it means the Royals will be on TV next season - have heard that the BBC are no longer going to make the Football League Show. Hopefully it doesnt mean that we will miss out on the great lower league games etc - absolutely love that show!

Yeah. Well done Reading. You cant have a run like you  guys have had over the last few months and not get reward.
Have to say, I was hoping Southampton would take the points off you, because with Birmingham away and a fighting Nottingham Forest to come, there was a possibility of a second loss.
As it is now, I cant see Southampton dropping points to Coventry or Peterborough.
So it's off to the playoff for us I think.
We now have to string together some good results, (I dont consider draws good results anymore) and go into the playoffs positively.
Hopefully we will meet again next year and in 2014 you can come and visit us in our new stadium.

Oh no, please don't fall into that mindset that football was only invented in 1992. We have of course been in the top flight before, just not since the fat cats decided to stop sharing the money with the rest of the league and celebrated their greed by changing the division name.

He was just stating a fact. I can't see the problem.

Hmmm it does seem ti make a mockery of the fact that people see the Premiership as a closed shop. Its more of a revolving door than most people realise.

Ironically although never played in the Premiership, Luton, by being in the top flight theo revious season helped set it up. Now they are non-league

Just that it's misleading. Might as well say Tottenham have never won the Budweiser FA Cup in their history.

i find it convenient to say 'in the premiership/premier league' with certain statistics to serve as a loose starting point for 'modern' english top flight football, but on the whole i'm in the sinz camp on this one - particularly when it comes to facts like the brighton thing, that's pretty much meaningless

Interesting match against Doncaster last night, they went 2-0 up in the first 4 mins, Super Pompey came back to win it 4-3.

We will never fully decide who has won the football.

REAL Hoops thank you very much - 1871 I do believe.

But will we face each other next season?

Quote from Southampton Manager, Nigel Adkins, "First of all I would like to congratulate Reading on winning the Championship title; after being so far behind in November they reeled us in like a Florida fisherman trying to land a Marlin".
Three points behind with three games to go and a better goal difference. I would be gutted if if I was a Southampton fan conceding the league at this stage. Sure Reading are looking good and losing bugger all, but, its a funny old game at this end of the season.

Chances are they will sill go through anyway, to be honest, they did very well to lead the charge throughout the majority of the season anyway which is quite an achievement in itself.

Three for me, and two for them.

Pompey's great escape continues, though next up is Derby, not keen on that.

Bye-Bye Reading13, come back and visit sometime

Well, at least I have someone to watch in the Premier League now.. I'd watch it anyway, but this makes it more exciting!Azevo2012-04-18 11:32:38

Jon Kirwan doesnt quite understand that the depression of supporting Pompey cant be lifted by swimming a few lengths.
Hanging in by the finger nails, the cynic says they cant do it, the hopefull keeps watching ang listening.

Definitely been a roller coaster ride, don't care where we are next season, because it'll be a hell of a ride.

Well, now the relegation is set in stone, only interesting thing left in the regular season is whether Boro can go in front of Cardiff and if West Ham can have some incredible luck and overtake The Saints.

Could be worse.. Still in for a shot. At least you haven't been relegated. A shame the battle didn't go till the end of the season, anti-climatic tbh. Though it was a massive ask for Pompey. Sad, but necessary.

From Winston Reid Thread
Promotion is gained on points, then goal difference, then goals for.
If WestHam win 3 - 0 and Southampton draw 1-1 this is how it will look
                      F   A   DIF   PTS
Southampton   82 47 25     86
West Ham       82 47 25     86
Scrap the playoffs. We have a winner(ston)

It's quite tight, don't see Southampton rolling over for Coventry, thinking Coventry will want to leave an impact in some way before dropping down.

We will never fully decide who has won the football.

Optimistically, I am looking at that fixture as a Pride over Pressure

Doncaster have had a draw and a win since being relegated.
Coventry have one last chance to make a mark in the Chamionship, and maybe some players may be playing for their contract. They have only lost three times in the last 10 games

Southampton, on the other hand have come up a couple of divisions in recent years and now everthing is on this last game.  They have won only twice in the last six.
