What a week.  Even the FA cup exit is of no major angst (as the year dosen't end in 1).

Who would have thought? Charles Insomnia catching @rse asleep.

Anyway - that's just a little extra for us and of no real concern.  It's the Mancs we need to be "gunning" for and make sure they don't pull over our eyes any wool-which would be bad for our tilt at 4th spot.

Is that where the bitterness stems from?

im glad you all know about 1919, the first year of our glorious unbeaten 91 years in the top flight, the longest out of anyone. Ever.

LOL but jokes aside, good on you lads, enjoy this purple patch, hope to see you fellas in the CL next season

more importantly i hope to laugh at Man City for not being there and therefore not having the pull to get the top players, so that they're once again resorted to throwing crazy money at every former-world-class player looking for a payday...

atleast with you lads we'll have 2 financially responsible english clubs in the CL... is that about the only common ground we have aside from the same patch of london?

Not about to start a love-in with your lot.  But I would say that both clubs play pretty "fair-play" type footy.  Back in the 1970s and 80's i used to really despise your lot for their hack and slash style (then chelski adopted it).  but from the 90s onwards you have played a very nice style and set the standard for other clubs to follow (b@stards).

Spurs this season have started to show something similar and the challenge will be for us to continue this form and style into 2010/11 and become consistent.

Yet despite 15 years of stylish Arse football, whenever I see (or indeed, attempt to play) a long ball, there is only ever one refrain that comes to mind...

Wouldn't your team need possession for you to play long ball ?

If you can finish in the top four of the EPL without possession, there goes ANY argument claming that the league is world class.

I think HN was referring to Harry's own football team i.e. his social team.

Three for me, and two for them.

Sounds like you were indulging in a bit of Audere est facere there HH.

Speaking of which:

I do not fear them even at OT as much as Chelski.  Which means we will probably get trounced.

(C'mon @rse - bounce back from Wigan and bury those blue mancs)

Soccernet Preview: Manchester United v Tottenham

Last week, Manchester United were preparing to take on Manchester City in Saturday's early game while Tottenham were getting ready to host Chelsea in the day's late kick-off. "These fixtures must have been an accident because you couldn't possibly have planned it," Sir Alex Ferguson said ahead of the games. "It is the most pivotal week of the season and the scenarios are fantastic."

As it turned out, United and Spurs won their matches and opened up both the race for the title and the race for fourth place, with United moving to within a point of Chelsea and Spurs finishing the weekend two ahead of City. However, the time for mutual back-scratching comes to an end at Old Trafford on Saturday.

"It is funny how the fixtures have come together," Michael Carrick said this week. "At the start of the season, you could never have predicted the scenario that has unfolded. You are supporting one team one week and playing against them the next. That is the nature of the game."

A defeat for either side could have dire consequences for their season. Where a couple of weeks ago United may have been highly confident of a victory on home turf, Tottenham's recent form will give Ferguson's side greater cause for concern. . . .

Statistics to consider this huge undertaking for Spurs.

The last ten meetings between the teams have brought eight United victories and two draws, while United have not lost at home to Tottenham for 21 years.

United have won nine out of the last 11 games at Old Trafford, losing the other two.

Tottenham have not won an away game against a 'big four' side in their last 66 attempts.

Well losing to Man Poo at OT is not really much of a surprise but having two penalties was a sad giveaway. BAE, wth?!! It should have been 1-1 draw and a league point.

This too tight. I am always nervous when we get to the business end of the league. I am not surprised about Arsenals boring antics with their youth players getting a run but if we lose a place in the champions league to Man sh*tty would make me puke.

I can cope with this result - get rid of a shocker performance against a side you wouldn't beat even if you played well!

arsenal played their strongest side possible this morn

man city parked the bus and we were toothless on attack, no cesc to unlock the defence... we threw on all attacking subs near the end and we were going for it, but we just werent good enough sorry spuds

Well, we are still clinging to 4th but City have a 1 goal advantage in goal difference and more goals scored than us. If it ends up being equal points we are not in a good space at the moment.

Thanks Glen Hoddle for jinxing us.

Bolton up next ...COYS!

I really hate the fact that the Manchester area will have so much influence on this campaign.

almost 16 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Villa are now even on points with us (although have played a game more), Perennial strugglers Liverpool are now 2 points behind (also played one more game), of course Citeh are 1 point behind...

If it goes pear shaped, we'll be 7th!

That's all well & good, but I'd rather have a 1 point advantage!

Beat Bolton on Sat, and hope City/Villa cancel each other out...

A good 1-0 win over Bolton.

All on for Wed/Thu now. May the best team in white (and without a gazillionaire backer and who aren't from manchester) win.

Come on Spurs, you can do it.

Need another Croatian team to support in the Champions League since we'll probably get done in the qualifying once again.
