'BAE' got yanked pretty quickly this morn... he was getting schooled by degen's brother

Strange, as he had a bloody good game against Citeh on the weekend, save for a suicidal off-side trap (which he then managed to save with a great tackle on SWP)

It was Hudd who came on for him after 36mns which also suggests a change in formation...

Can you really see Crouchie smashing in that goal of Pav's last night?! Although, that said at the moment I'd rather have him than Defoe - he just hasn't seemed with it at all yet. Agree 100% with the rest though, don't think it's a coincidence that our better results (Arsenal/Chelsea/Man City) last season were with Hudd & Modric in c/m....

I am sick of Crouch, he doesn't do enough, he is a one trick pony, i would start Pav and JD each time...

expecting anyone to be rested vs stoke this weekend? stoke away is a tricky fixture, though they looked crap vs wolves im sure they will step it up for their first home game.

i tend to think you guys will go through comfortably in the 2nd leg vs young boys

I think the word 'rested' won't be heard around the Lane for a while.

I'm nervous about this weekend, we don;t tend to front up well for games like this, away at Stoke after a good game last weekend and a midweek struggle...

Its Arry's master plan.
over 15 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
I'm guessing arry will start Palacios against Stoke to get some bite in the midfield and rest Huddlestone for the Young Boys game.

Since Palacios came back he has been smaverage in my opinion. Loses more ball then he should be. I hope he can find some form soon.
over 15 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
Long time reader first time writer.

I've noticed Palacios' dip in form recently as well, he used to be menacing + bloody never gave the ball up. Now Hudds has really stepped up and I think he could be a key player for us this season. Bale will be brilliant, was arguably the best player in the Premier League for the second half of the season.

Harry to steal Scholes for his final year. What a coup!
over 15 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
i really like huddlestone for you guys, real classy passer of the ball

similar style to aquilani but stronger on the ball and a better long range shot...

imo keane is rubbish these days, the Liverpool stint was the ruining of him

Welcome McSwine69...one more of the Yid Army contributing is always a good thing...big call on Scholes though!

I too think that Palacios has flattered to deceive of late. His presence as a ball winner was an early contributer to our revival in fortunes, but that near tragic backpass on 81 mins against Young Boys was indicative of his form backend of last season.

Moreover, compare him to Huddlestone and the difference in class becomes more apparant. I believe the perception of Huddlestone's lack of mobility has counted against him, but he seems one of only a handful of young English midfielders who has the ability of ball retention. And he ALWAYS had the sweetest 25m strikes of a ball.    HarryHotspur2010-08-19 20:26:38

Well said McSwine.

I also rate Bale, but he needs to get back in defence when required.

and Scholes is class, but I still think he has had his day(even if that was last monday)

Anyone heard anymore about Pletikosa? can't see him on any of the team websites, no more news articles since a couple of weeks ago.

He will be a great buy. Our CB ranks are just a little thin, but with Gallas we will be solid.

I'd imagine King/Dawson will stil be starting, with Gallas to be 3rd and therefore Bassong 4th choice.

Where's bentley???

Gallas gives me the sh*ts, at every other club he's  been at, he's been a disruptive selfish idiot whose number one concern in William Gallas, can't see him 'dying' for the Lilywhite shirt...

Give Kaboul a run there.

If he was just a footballer then fine, but we don't need the inevitable dressing room histrionics

Yeah, but how many of those signed with Spurs with a history of problems, none of them...I take your point that they might have had issues with the previous management at Spurs...

Ahh true. I just have faith in arry being able to deal with so called "problem" players.

Plus, if he is considering purchasing him, then he surely must think that he can deal with his attitude. In harry we trust!

and just think we might have had another problem child too if Citeh had allowed Bellamy go come to us...

You're welcome to Gallas. As soon as I heard the rumour of him going to sp*rs I thought yeah, that sounds like something Gallas would do. Joker.

I agree with No Bread on Gallas.

Arry will take no sh*t from him ,and being an Englishman will prolly help.

He fits the bill as far as my CB wish list goes.

Just read that Harry is also trying for Pienaar and Lassana Diarra. Diarra on loan for one year would be nice, but we have enough dmfs! Must be nonsense.

Has anyone seen Sandro play? Will he slot straight into the starting xi? I'd rather moddle and huddle
over 15 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
I think what we really need is a striker who can play as one on his own, whether it be at the top end of a 4-2-3-1 or a 4-5-1.

I don't think any of our 4 strikers can play in that system. Pushed, I would say Pav might be the best of an unsuitable bunch.

If we make it past the Young Boys (god forbid) we'll have to play those systems in Europe, we'd be slaughtered playing 4-4-2.

Yeah our strikers aren't in form but hey it's only 2 games in. I'd rather Pav up front if its a 4-51. If he's in space within 25 yards, he will usually take a shot. One of em is bound to go in! Whereas crouchie just fluffs around with it - more of a post player.

Apparantly another former ARSEnal player in Hleb, so add Pienaar, Diarra, Sandro and Hleb to the squad and the midfield is starting to look kinda crowded...

Of course we won't get them all...

Our wage limit is $65k, so he won't getting the $90k he was on at ARSE, and i note Harry has said 'His wages aren't a problem, he's not being greedy' - so do we take from that that he's agreed to a reasonable drop in salary?

Had to laugh at this, originally twittered by some sp*rs fan:

"Ex Chelsea & Arsenal. Only way he'd be more unpopular at WHL is if he joined the Nazi party".

Gallas will not be getting what he got at Arsenal.

He's a great buy and brings a wealth of experience at the back for a couple of years. I have to say from what I've seen of Kaboul I've liked, he no longer has those brain explosions I remember from a few years back. He's a decent right back, and should get a bit of game time this season. I wonder how the young lad's Naughton and Walker will do, O'Hara is gone with back injury - needs an operation

I think that playing-wise Gallas is exactly what we needed really. I'm not too worried about the Arsenal/Chelsea connection - if he's good enough and wants to come that's fine. On that note I'd much rather us sign Lassana Diarra than Scott Parker, for example!!

Hopefully the reports are right about Gallas not breaking our wage structure (can't see Levy doing that for anyone!), and he doesn't bring his attitude with him though! I reckon his CL exp could be really important, especially with our 2 most experience CB (Woody & King) constantly struggling with injuries, and will hopefully help Dawson & Bassong etc develop....
