Kraev needs to up his game. Idk if it’s the position he’s playing or a change it tactics or whatever, but if he could start playing like he was at the start of the season and start actually making assists, him and Zawada could be a Bobo/Mierzejewski level combo.

Yes he seems a shadow of his former self. I Crave the old Kraev.

Interesting, I thought he had a good game yesterday. He certainly got through a ton of work. Whether Uffie is getting the best out of him is another question. I feel like he's lost some effectiveness as the game plan has evolved into one of whacking over crosses or long balls to Zawada.

Honestly sometimes I watch our tactics and it feels like I'm back in the Ricki years with Leo or Lochy banging maddeningly inaccurate crosses in the general direction of Smeltz.

Zawada is doing a fantastic job but it seems to me that the potential is/was there for our attack to be so much more potent this season, at least potent enough to turn many of those ridiculous losses into comfortable wins.

It’d be awesome to have one guy aboard who’s performing at a top level and committed to the club and city. That was one of those things we were talking about in the other thread…

I hope we fork out enough to keep him after next season. Unless there is interest from overseas which we couldn't compete with it would be the worst if he went over to Aussie... The man makes the most out of the scraps we give him and will probably continue and score another 15+ next season. If we can get other players firing and get better distribution we can build around him next season and in the future

Yep.  He does a lot.  He's a great hold up player.  He does some good physical work defensively.  He has some vision and is capable of some great layoffs and 1-2 plays.  He's the tall, strong main option for crossing and aerial play, or as a plan B and he's been the postman doing that.  And he seems a decent squady, albeit maybe a bit on the nicer side of competitive.  He seems robust.  Plus he's young enough to be around at a decent level for a while.

Superb signing and a very humble person....just need to start slotting in more than 1 goal per game and should be close to Roy's all-time record.

With all these players apparently getting signed for decent coin, I'm surprised there has been no chatter about him getting picked up somewhere.

Pretty high praise and shows that what the team is doing by hiring Chief isn't just a "cut price option" like some people insinuate but is the result of the club having a plan.

Visa players being sold in the A-League is pretty rare, I can't think of any who have been sold to a European club.

Didn't Sydney get a decent fee for Bobo?

Yeah, wiki says 800k for his move to Turkey. I had forgotten about that one.

Was that in AUD? I feel like we could get at least 1 mil NZD equivalent to 500k pounds for Zawada. It would be a pretty good deal for European clubs, an ST at a good age, off a good season, although only with a year left which is why the fee probs won't be much higher.

Given the club's stance on not letting players go "cheap" I'd expect that we'd be negotiating for a pretty decent amount of coin, any offer now is a full year of his contract to run so I'd expect at least $750k NZD would be the minimum price.

Not sure the club gains much from selling him for anything less than a million NZD. They will be signing him to be a starter, so would hope we can get $1.7 million NZD ($1m euro) off them for him.

No transfers between A-League clubs, unless he's been poached by Bonyrigg White Eagles or someone he's not going to Oz

Beyond that he's off contract so he can go where he and his agent want. At least it means he's likely t be at the Nix next season.

That someone would have to be Croydon FC in Adelaide.  I do not recall any other football club is Oz with Polish roots (Bonyrigg White Eagles has always been a Serbian community club, as far as I recall).

when he first arrived the press asked him the usual "do you like New Zealand" question, he said something like it's a beautiful country but he's a professional footballer and will play on Mars for all he cares. The fact that he prefers the beach to the bush would be quite far down his priority list. He'll be looking at money, game time, how he likes the club and the system, etc

And as his wife Patrycja is effectively a full time Mum while he plays football, it also matters what she thinks about where they live, in a practical sense.

Wowee this is uncomfortable. Massive L from Zawada.

Why?
Because while Mendy being dismissed doesn't prove his his guilt, it sure as shark doesn't prove his innocence. That case was pretty ugly on all parts and I won't claim to know much about it. But it's something like 1% of all sexual assaults lead to convictions, and I don't think it's all that likely that Mendy is squeaky clean after 13 separate women alleged similar offences. Enough has come out in court to make him seem like a pretty shark guy.

That 1% stat is bogus btw.

But from what I've seen it sounds like although Mendy may be a grub he's not a rapist. Pretty messy all around to be sure but the stories surrounding this are all pretty whack.

At the risk of going off topic, the victim survey found that 92% of sexual assault offences went unreported to Police.  And the Min of Justice found there was 23,739 sexual violence victimisations reported in New Zealand between 2014 and 2018. Of these, only 31% resulted in a perpetrator being charged, and 11% resulted in a conviction.
Gets you pretty close to 1%.

I don't like the comment personally - surely with that much smoke, there must be a little fire somewhere as they say.

I think it might have a little to do with that sporting celebrities are targeted at times by individuals looking to get famous quick and have their two minutes of fame... and what happens then?

The reprecussions for making a false statement are minor in comparison to the personal/professional damage said allegations can do.

The Greenwood scenario is another WTF one. The audio if you have heard it, is horrendous, but no charges. Couple back together etc... so what happened?
