Was looking at his league minutes for 1st teams across his seasons yesterday.

It's wild that a third of his all-time league minutes happened last season. Hard to know who much was injury related and how much was out of favour.

Generally though injuries come first then the "out of favour" bit, or struggles to find form etc.

I remember it took quite a few games for Zawada to finally score in his first season, and what he said when he did was he was surprised he hadn't been dropped yet and that the consistent run of gametime (for likely the first time in his senior career) enabled him to improve drastically.

Form outside of the A-League doesn't always translate to form within the A-League, particularly because the finals series  and lack of relegation means teams can afford to be more patient and build towards something.

When he moved to the Nix the comments in Polish sports press said he was out of favour / could not fit into the game plan / while at the Korean team, and that move to NZ was seen as a chance to return to a scoring form.

The off-season is a time of desperation – panning through vague social media posts for even the slightest twinkling of information. This could mean anything, e.g. "I'll miss you for the next month or two before our move to Devonport," but I suppose it's no weaker than oysters at one of the most obvious go-to restaurants in Auckland for Instagram types.

Maybe like most of the international imports they are heading home or back to Europe for a holiday - following the Ball's socials and it seems they are back in Ol' Blighty at the moment.

That's not really a see you soon message. If they've opted to leave instead of AKL, I'm good with that. Gutted, as it's only a financial decision due to circumstance (on the clubs part) that he's not staying with us :(

What a sweet message, best of luck to you Zawada on your return to Europe or wherever you go. Like many, your contribution/what you have done for the Phoenix will not be forgotten.

Why did the Nix not say anything official before Oskar? I'm guessing he was cut free some time ago. Was there an offer on the table waiting for Oskar to make his decision?

Maybe they were waiting to see what the APL would be paying this season before making a final call.

Appears as though he has signed for RKC Waalwijk in the Eredivise. A shame as I would have gladly accepted him turning up for Auckland if it meant him staying in NZ and still getting to see his performances week in, week out in the A League.

Don't think I could have stomached him turning up in Auckland tbh.

Nice to know that he definitely won't be pulling a Hemed or Speckmaier.

A great advertisement for the team though to mid career european professionals who may have slipped under the radar back home. You can come here and reignite your career and end up back in the limelight.

That said by the sounds of the latest TV revenue deal there might not be any funds to throw at european signings in the future.

there absolutely was not... Chiefy was quite clear about this at season's end. There was no money for it

Also nice to see he's retaining the number 9 jersey. David Min, who recently left RKC Waalwijk was the previous wearer of it.

Wow, a transfer from the Nix to an Erevedisie club is the type of thing we’d be shouting from the rooftops if it was a homegrown player. Good on him, that’s a great move.

Good move for him. Nice league and closer to home. He still has a few good years of football ahead of him. Hopefully he stays fit and bangs in a few goals. Go well, Oskar

If you're not on Instagram you won't have seen this - could definitely see him back at the Nix one day IMO.

Hilarious. Are these groups on facebook which you've followed Doloras? I honestly haven't seen any fan activity/organisation from AFC fans - definitely nothing like our forum we have here

Likewise see zero comments on the AFC FB groups with any anger towards Zawada or Rojas. You not making up stuff Doloras, to fit an anti AFC narrative?

Someone did suggest once Hay was signed as an AFC assistant, Rojas was never going there!  Interesting comment.

They have 2 main FB groups I can see. I've now and again jumped in to correct any anti Nix mths I've spotted. Still nothing as organised as this Forum, but is early days for them.

So do you guys feel the need to come to the defence of AFC fandom, or is it just seeing my name on a post which triggers you :D

I just don't see anyone on the AFC fan FB pages angry towards either Zawada or Rojas like you said there was. I tragically go in there most days for a looksee.

A Post each on Zawada and Rojas. Two comments on each.

Oskar Zawada has signed with Waalwijk in the Netherlands ending speculation of a signing with Auckland.  17 likes

Was never going to end up in Auckland.

He wants to play for the Poland national team. This is his only hope.

According to Piney on X/Twitter Marco Rojas is off to Wellington not Auckland

Rather ironic comment from someone who dosnt mind throwing insults or starting conflict when there wasnt any. Then again the expert of everything across all threads seems to be able to post what he wants.

No surprises Marco said no when Hay joined... after all it was Hay who broke covid protocols before their WC qualifier which led to Marco catching it.

Hay put himself before the team.
