How fudgeing pathetic and only confirms my view of some of the people posting here. Leave the poor prick alone, let him do his job and if he doesn't perform, then let him fall on his sword. To date, he has managed to jump the hurdles in the way of the full National Team and he still has a couple to go. There is probably no one in the word that realistically thinks he'll qualify us for the World Cup finals but he will not be the lone ranger there, we all know it is a huge task.

Personally I want him and our national team to do well, I'm also mindful of the fact that he doesn't have a great deal of resources and he hasn't had a great deal of help from NZF in making this work. Just a little bit tired of this negativity to be honest.

We scored one goal in 210 minutes of football against Island teams in the playoffs, and the one we did score the keeper biffed into his own net.  Resources or not, the Nations Cup performance was an absolute joke.

He hasn't performed, so he should fall on his sword.

I think everybody on here was supportive of him when he got the job but the results and the manner in which they have been achieved have fallen well short of what should be reasonably expected given the resources at his disposal.

Not accurate actually.

Criteria for rankings has this factor:

M: Points for match result

Teams gain 3 points for a victory, 1 point for a draw and 0 points for a defeat. In a penalty shoot-out, the winning team gains 2 points and the losing team gains 1 point.

Claiming it as a win is kind of like saying hitting the post is a shot on target. With the winning on penalties being like the rebound hitting a defender and going in.

Fuck this stupid game

As in, you got the job done but you are bloody lucky (and one or two missed pens from looking for the next Asian u23 coaching gig)

All the players and coaches and managers and fans of every team that wins on penalties in competitions like the Nations cup, the World cup, etc can claim their result as a win. And rightly so, as those games were played under Fifa rules and the final result stands.

People may hate Hudson and the performance of the team, sure, but you cant misinterpret the rules to serve that hate.

That's fine. Yes they won the tournment. But the official FIFA records have penalty wins as a draw. And wiki follows those guidelines.

From the Fifa website

That is not the same as a draw. Because the word win is in there. New Zealand won that match and because of that they won the tournament.

Please dear god let Anphony get the England job then he can be their problem.

of course someone wins a knockout game. But for statistical purposes, it's classed as a draw.

So the match is a draw. Then we gained 2 points for winning the shootout.

So it should be recorded as a draw.

I would have thought with one more point available for a shootout win, all draws would go to shootouts.

i.e. we draw with PNG in a knockout game 0-0 it goes to penalty shootout and we win that so we get 2 points and PNG gets 1

Fiji draws with PNG in non-knockout game 0-0, Fiji gets 1 point, PNG gets 1 point, nobody gets to try to get that extra point.

I mean its for FIFA rankiongs and Ive been told they are a crappy measure anyway, but it just seems off.

I really don't have any issue with anyone claiming to have won the nations cup - the above discussion is focused on semantics.

I do agree that the U23's stats shouldn't really be included in his overall win percentage - but mainly what bugs me about this whole thing is that someone at NZF (allegedly) is involved in a wiki battle... jesus they should have better things to worry about.

Disclaimer: I have no problem with Hudson wanting to use NZ as a springboard to bigger and better things, but he needs to get a wriggle on proving himself!

The saddest thing is he isn't even smart enough to update his Wikipedia page at a mates house

He should have updated it from Big Sam's place, that would've been cool.

given that Big Sam's just collected his P45, Hudson may not have a floor to crash on!

Seems like there's a new "Hudson-to-insertclubhere" story every week now.....if he is sniffing around clubs in the UK, then the head is gone. And when the head is gone, the body has to follow.

If true - and I don't really think Anfony would go before the Confeds Cup - who would you think of as potential replacements?

I always thought Paul Marshall deserved more of a crack at club/national level coaching than he got, I thought he was really good. But he's been out of it for too long now.

Ramon? Proven coaching ability, though at a club with the best resources. Could he have produced similar at, say, WaiBop?

Give it back to Emblen?

Seems odd, he will not get it but just being linked to the job gives him more credibility.  Classic from the PR play book

So obvious right?  Starts getting his name out there now, got a few journo contacts through his old man, triggers the usual oh there's the English guy coaching NZ. Wait, that's interesting...Come next summer at the confeds people have heard of him, he hopes he does ok there and then do ok in the playoff which of course we lose but that's ok and then moves onto his next gig.  I am sorry but what a complete prick

I'm not trolling but would be really interested in some sort of retrospective evaluation of some of the comments made regarding Hudson prior to the last Mexico game.

In my mind, I was concerned that we did not look that impressive against the Oceanic nations recently and thought that these 2 games in the US were Hudson's last chance to show his ability as there were unlikely to be many excuses he could pull out if we performed badly. I am so frigging glad that we looked competent and engaged yesterday and hope it continues.

I may be wrong, but you don't seem to hear any of the players moaning about him but we have been getting reports back from friends of friends who knew someone who knew his Dad, type of thing. He seems [to me] to have the players backing and he certainly show a lot of passion about what he is doing.

Seeing all the Hudson love after the Mexico game, is this thread now redundant? Or, can he walk the talk after all? The question that remains in my mind is that this group of cattle is just about our best lot for a while (plus thomas, and maybe tuiloma, Boyd, and tommy) and SHOULD be putting in the kind of shift they did v Mexico because they are pros, mostly. I really hope we've seen the end of kids being handed shirts because Hudson believed they are a 'project'. He has to insist all the euro players are available for WCQ games vs the  island teams. And wouldn't it be great to see them all playing in NZ. All White fans, and football in this country, need this.

Kotahitanga. We are one.
