YES! That'd be awesome. Useless. Also it weakens CCM which makes the Nix better.

Source on Hudson/CCM?

Edit: I ask because twitter/google searches are throwing up nothing, and it would be bizarre for him to jeopardize the NZ job for that one... Sure it's not someone mixing him up with Ricki?

Edit 2: Have now tracked this down, seems it's a case of stupid forum speculation. Ramon T might be in the mix though.

Yup. CCM would be a step down for Hudson.

Really? I think it would do him good in the long term to train a team every week in out, try to implement his tactics, team culture and win a games with exciting football. Less talk and a bit more action and proof me wrong, I think that he is sweet talker.

Almost guaranteed to be wooden spooners. As opposed to going to a confeds cup. I know which is more likely to get him a bigger job in the future.

Confederations cup and the world cup never enabled Ricki to step up, stunning performances in the club world cup never landed Ramon a pro gig... Then again popavich is still around.

Using football from this part of the works as a stepping stone is hard.

Hudson finally has a chance to play some high profile games against quality opposition with the AWs. Would be a strange time to walk out of the job.

Why on earth is he applying for jobs though?

To be honest with the lack of games that an AW coach has it should be a dual role as either an assistant for the Phoenix or a coach of an ASB Premiership side. That way he keeps sharp (or in the case of Hudson, gains some experience), and keeps face time with the players.

Has he actually applied though or is it just rumour and or speculation

just random speculation on CCM forums. No media source or confirmation

So total bollocks then.

Well there's been rumors for a while now that Hudson is shopping his CV around the middle east. Also it's been said that his relationship with Martin is non existent.

While we know that CCM is a dysfunctional organisation, NZF is worse. It could be so bad at NZF that he just wants out, regardless of upcoming fixtures. Also despite his talk, he should know that we're not qualifying for the world cup, so is taking a team to the confederations cup and getting destroyed any better for his CV than taking on the CCM and finishing near the bottom of the A League ladder?

and then there's this: http://www.anthonyhudson.com/

Going to CCM would be good for Hudson, and potentially damaging for the AWs. Unless we could get a better coach, which you think we would have done if we could have.

Why would Anthony Hudson having a website, that pre-dates the NZ job, suggest anything? It's total bollocks that has come about because a guy on a Sydney FC forum thought Hudson was who was being referred to when it was said that the 'Auckland coach' was one of the six contenders.

and the Auckland coach is more than likely Ramon or Ricki, not Hudson.

Assistant coach Alex Armstrong resigns.

Probably shouldn't have given the job to a fitness coach/sports therapist in the first place.

Why would you quite a job where you do 2 games a year and get paid a wedge for it?

Thats similar in nature to booting out a flatmate that is never there. If they are paying and not there, then thats perfect

Because we actually have dreams of one day qualifying for the World Cup again.

Didn't Hudson bring this guy in? Give the job to Ramon

over 9 years ago · edited over 9 years ago · History

I never even knew that Hudson had an assistant, He obviously was no Kevin Fallon.

Someone talked about his wedge before and I felt  sick.

Someone please tell me that the assistant to this current All Whites Coach whose team doesn't play to many games is on minimum wage and that this is also part time?

Yeah Hudson sacked Emblem and brought this guy over from Bahrain.

All Whites: Assistant coach Armstrong resigns

After two years as part of the All Whites coaching team, the Assistant Head Coach Alex Armstrong has decided to resign from New Zealand Football.

Armstrong has played a material supporting role in the recent development of the All Whites culminating in them winning the OFC Nations Cup and qualifying for the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup.

“We wish Alex well in the future and thank him for his contribution to New Zealand Football,” said All Whites Head Coach Anthony Hudson.

Armstrong will not be available for interviews.

My uncle Kevin Fallon is at a loose end. Has experience. Still has keys to Mt Smart for after hours fitness runs around the park. Can bring own hair drier for half time talks. Where do i sign him up?

interesting times. If it was for family or other reasons you'd hear the "for person reasons" line.

Until Martin fronts (good luck with that) we can only speculate if it's either dollars, misconduct or a job offer elsewhere. I hope it's not the latter as part of a combo with AH but better now that this time next year.

Won't be a clash of ideals as AH dictates the football ideology as NZF don't have a Director of Football do they now that Fred has gone?

Seems over qualified to be Hudson's assistant.

He's available after Manukau City win Div 2 this weekend.

So from the NZF press release this is a guy who has his last job 2011-12 in Bahrain with Hudson. And knows Beckham. And he is Professional and good to work with. This continus name dropping with Hudson. Do you think any of this NZ Pro's in Europe need and extra coach to look after them? This is nothing for the future. What about a younger 'local' groomed coach with some fresh ideas? Ifill? Greenacre?

A 63 years assistant coach, this is going nowhere.

So NZF basically employed a guy to watch lower league football in Europe?

What would the assistant coach of the New Zealand national team actually be doing week in week out though? We never play, the players are spread across the world. Surely all Anthony Hudson does outside of games is watch footage of his players and the opposition. At least now he's got a man on the ground in Europe.

I'm not sure what we should be expecting instead, a guy who is working with another team full time then, when there is an international window, puts his All Whites cap on?

With the significant distance to Europe, it is a challenge to stay in regular contact and monitor their fitness and form. Taylor will assist Hudson in working with the likes of skipper Winston Reid, striker Chris Wood, Henry Cameron, Ryan Thomas and Bill Tuiloma to assist their international preparation.

I'm not sure the fitness and form of these guys is the issue. They are almost certainly going to be picked. And their fitness is managed by their clubs.

If it means he gets to go see more fringe players then great. But I'm sceptical.

What does age matter for a coach... surely its about ideas and potential value added.

I don't expect him to run around with the players... but I do think he should know how to win a game and get the most out of what you have and based on his record of two promotions within 3 years suggests he does.

He could coach a local team with future all whites in it.

Go around clubs and talks about coaching, tactics, nutrition, fitness and their problems they face.

I like to see him at the local youth academy and look at talent, talk to kids and their coaches.

Coach other coaches.

Be present and spread the masterplan, give them a spark.

I think there is plenty to do, it is a long run.

Stitch-up. Hudson blinded by Taylor's long-past reputation IMO.

Actually, Martin would have had to approve this. So maybe it's going to be Hudson who'll eventually be stitched-up.

Maybe the assistant in the UK's sole role is to become matey with our gun pros and convince them to play when we have some games?

Can't see any other purpose behind it, particularly as many of our second tier players in Europe are in Scandavia and no pins register on Hudsons world map

The benefit is we get to say we've signed a former england and premier league manager, and the man who gave Becham the captaincy in our press releases.
