Go on, don't hold back, because there is likely a 95 per cent chance you are correct

I'll call you on that as I have never been a vocal supporter of Ramon apart from wanting him over Emblem. I believe if you read the thread I may have even supported downie over him.

yeah, but it's a bit too early to be dumping on it...and it is a whole new style having an All White coach who wants to be on the ABs coach's speed dial.

That's certainly an interesting approach. I would have thought that a progressive organisation would have a database of NZ eligible players and then add/subtract to them and monitor where they are in the world along with any offspring. Granted you are not going to know of everyone but the more names in database, the larger the pool you have to look at. Abris did a great job here updating players overseas.

They may already do this but the above could point to them maybe not doing so too. It could also be a blunderbuss approach where you fire and hope that one of the pellets hits the target. Either way, if they find players that are good enough for NZ, then sweet. We are after all ready and willing to accept Riera.

I can't believe you are advocating such an approach in light of the spy allegations made recently......
21 Sep 22:49

We should probably just ask John Key where all the NZ eligible players are. If he does not know, I am sure he could ask the USA, or Australia or some other overseas government spook department.

All NZF / Hudson need to do is talk to us/read these pages and play a bit of FM15, that's the best scouting engine going!!!

Maybe if they edit some of the players details on it we can pick up a few decent British/European/South American players in the real world to replace the likes of Smith, Fallon, Smeltz, Killen, Vichelich and Paston   ;-)

How about Aaron Cruden, not needed by his club in Argentina, very fit, playing in NZ's domestic competition and great with a ball at his feet!

If he wants to unearth more kiwis, his best option is surely Aussie; look at emigration numbers over the last 20 years. However Hudson will be lucky to find many ready for AW over next couple of years. With a longer term view - there must be thousands of kids with Kiwi heritage playing over there - and of course NZF will have no way of identifying them.

On the plus side, they'll never be eligible for Aussie citizenship so we don't have to worry about the Aussies taking them.

I may of commented on here before about this; but about 8years ago I was living in Sydney and followed my wife's nephew as he played a reasonable top level of age group football. In that one team of 13 year olds were 3 or 4 kids that had Kiwi parents and that was at only 1 team in 1 club!!!! Aussie will be full of kids like that and [like rugby league] NZF need to track them down and make the most of the situation.

I know. But as it stands, New Zealanders emigrating to Australia have no pathway to Australian residence, and consequently no pathway to citizenship. That might change in the future, of course. And you can always apply for residence under the regular immigration categories but the vast majority of kiwis in Aussie wouldn't be eligible for it.

Any New Zealander coming to Australia can become a resident. it is citizenship and the ability to get welfare that is hard.

Not true - Australian Immigration info about NZers

Put simply, NZers entering Australia have more rights than other temporary visa holders, but less than residents:

"The SCV is a temporary visa, however, it does provide New Zealand citizens with more flexible travel arrangements than those that generally exist for Australian permanent residents. It allows a New Zealand citizen to remain indefinitely and live, work or study in Australia lawfully as long as that person remains a New Zealand citizen.

The SCV is not a permanent visa and visa holders do not have the same rights and benefits as Australian citizens or Australian permanent residents."
