Paraguay will be tough - we have never beaten a South American team. South American teams boast a really good record at this year's World Cup, winning seven of nine and drawing two. Though we were supposed to succumb to Slovakia and implode against Italy. Bring it on!

Records are made to be broken.

WE BELIEVE!!!!

Three for me, and two for them.

Here go fellas this is it! from watching Smeltz's cracker against Fiji on a sh*tty internet feed to this... it almost seems surreal.

Our performance last night was far superior in my mind to Slovakia. We restricted Italy to more half chances and it showed. Just hope we can get up one more time, one more big performance and we're potentially through.

Go hard boys, we can do this I BELIEVE!chocnut2010-06-21 17:55:31

The difference is, I believe that we need the win rather than a draw and then wait for some silly FIFA random lot. Like I said before, three draws does not cut it. And no I didn't laugh.

You wanted 0-0 draws and I want to score four goals. I am halfway there with two goals and you are nowhere there.

Let me remind you what was said . . . in the "I want goals" thread.

If we draw every game 0-0 and sneak through it will be more than worthwhile.

That's never going to happen. Three points just does not cut it at the pool group stage. Scoreless draws are boring . . . . (just like Arsenal )

Why you ever dream such a nutty thing, is beyond me.
Just general boredom really.

figures . . .

Please, don't go for scoreless draws . . . I want to win and get to the next round and not wait on luck.

If the ref is Central American I may just pick a fight with someone smaller than me.  We need a proper ref who lets games flow.

Seeing what Portugal did to North Korea just 30 minutes ago has me worried.  There are several teams who could do similar damage to us.  I certainly hope Paraguay don't prove to be one of them.

I BELIEVE.

anyone know whether four kings will play the italy-slovakia game simultaneously without sound or something?

Wish Browny could play

I'm a bit worried because this game because people are actually saying they think we might win. The pessimism before games has served us well so far - lets not change it :P The level of expectation has been raised and hopefully the team doesn't crack under the pressure (which would be easy to do)

I hope the friendly against Chile - where we held them out until we brought on Mulligan and Bannatyne etc - will give us a bit of hope. I saw what their pace did to us that game though and it makes be a little scared.valeo2010-06-22 19:09:48

Not me.  Always thought this was the one that would go wrong for us.  We're awful against South American sides.  Don't see any chance.

yeah come on News we did ok against Chile (who are very closely skilled across park with Paraguay) so I don't see why we can't get a result. Gotta take the Italy performance and take it up yet another notch or two, if that's possible. they will be tough to hold out....but hey we have already proven that this defence is good, now let's prove it's great.

Well I hope that the Chile training match has gave us some insight on how to play Paraguay. But there is always a first time to win against the South America team and our best chance to do that is apparently away from their home and at a highly competitive tournament when our team is on the rise. So we have to pull out everything out to get this game in our direction and get the result we need.

Doing the same as the two previous games 1) Write us off completely so my prediction: Paraguay 4-0 2) Wear the same red wine stained white top as the night of the Bahrain game.

Even a draw and well be undefeated at group stage of the world cup. Say that out loud and see how it feels...

But yeah paraguay is a pretty bad match up for us. Still probably the best South American team we could have gotten imo. To get a result out of this one I think we'll need to score twice. Just hope we dont get carried away with the fouls

Know exactly how you feel Tiger.

Thought tonight that I should go to bed early so that it arrives quicker. Thats what I did when young whenever something exciting was on the horizon.

Even my son said he can hardly wait, a major statement from him,  this is very infectious

Cmon the All Whites, cant wait to farken fire up officially

As I have said before, if you have big hearts you can achieve.
That has shown to be correct so far.
I don't think we should change anything. If is ain't broke don't fix it.

If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid
