how much do people think there is to this business about ryan being sick? the man is tough as nails but we will get destroyed without him so hope he's alright
Maybe Riki is starting the Mind Games with the Paraguayans. Coz it's certainly f*ing with my head, esp when my boy came home from school and said that Ryan Nelson had food poisoning.. What ??I'm all over the place on this one, even more so that than the Italy one.. One minute, I am thinking we're gonna get tharashed , then the next is we are going to get a result. Jumping on the forum tho' swings it back to a result... the enthusiasm jumping out of these pages is sooo contagious...But whatever, the boys have done Bloody Marvelous. It's been said already, but Slovakia was the cake, Italy the icing and if we get a result it will be the BIGGEST F'ING CHERRY YOU HAVE EVER SEEN.

Nelsen.

Come on All Whites! Either way you've made me and the Country proud. But having come this far, why not take it one step further? A win is hard, but not impossible. They said we were going to get trashed by the greasy Italians, and in the end we came away with a point and a great performance. So why not Paraguay?! Come on guys!

I have a feeling this might be the line-up:

                         Moss
               Reid      Nelsen     Smith

      Bertos      Elliot    Brown     Locky

               Smeltzy    Fallon     Killen

Ricky wouldn't have brought Mossy for nothing, so I reckon he'll play. Also Vicelich in for Nelsen if he doesn't recover (hope he does). Brownie to start.

I wonder if I'll be right or not. Very very curious.

Coming off the bench:
Brockie or Wood
McGlinchey
Brown (if not starting)
Vicelich (if starting on the bench)

Off to compete in a Rock Paper Scissors tournament, then watch the game. Will be in a bar full of Aussies, but thinking of all you other All Whites fans, cheering in all corners of the world...

Hope that we're all singing after the final whistle! Come on you All Whites!

Think it'll be the same lineup as first two games NZP. But keen for Brown to get a run, only if he's fully fit and ready to go though.

Before the WC began I told the wife that NZ was going to be one of the teams which used the least players off the bench. Is anyone aware of any stats so far?
I think we've used
1) Christie
2) Wood
3) Barron (pity cause he only came on for 2', so if he handn't we'd only have used 2).

Am I missing anyone?

that's what I have been reading, but who's to say it's not a disguise? Ricky is a cunning linguist after all!!! :D

Cover for Paston on the last game , surely ???

Moss surely won't start. Everyone loves Paston. Worldwide too. It will get a big frown and a WTF? from me and a lot of others if he does start Mossy.

Fairly certain Moss' will be riding the pine, Paston deserves his spot. Really wish Brown was fit, but hope he gets on. Watching old footy vids on youtube getting me very pumped up!

Honestly, I'm hoping for anything but a belting.

Was watching North Korea v Portugal, and thinking that the Koreans played fairly decently in the first half. Was also thinking 'Hang on, these guys held Brazil to 2-1'.

What the AWs did in the last two matches means nothing when they're on the pitch tonight. I've always felt they'd struggle to put in 3 top-notch performances, but hopefully the guys remain focussed and turn in another fine game.

Whatever the result tonight, they've done a magnificent job, and all New Zealand should be proud of them. (Michael Laws, you're excused from that statement)

Being brutally serious here, the Paraguan goalie, Justo Villar was not that brilliant coping with crosses in their game against Italy.  I'd be bashing it in all day, with two the other two racing at the goal keeper for pressure.
Cause for hope.  Now, what can I tape over....

He missed one cross in that game, and they scored from it.

Collected everything else, and much more difficult ones than the one Italy scored from.

Tbh we were poor against Slovakia for the majority of the game. I was always pleased after it because i knew we could improve greatly ahead of the Italy game and we did so. Now we just have to continue the run and use all our self belief and draw on all the support from us fans to get us home tonight.

Three for me, and two for them.

Brockie or Wood

NO comparison! Wood with the exception of his near miss I thought was immense v Italy and is a must coming off the bench replacing one of the three strikers. Brockie did not do himself any favours in the warm ups and feel played his way out of the side. Unless injuries I think Wood and Brown is all which will come off the bench, McGlinchey could be handy but very unlikely he will be given a run.

Na mate just the three. McGlinchey is the first player I think of as a player who would consider themselves a decent shot before the world cup at getting minutes.

This from an international betting advice site:

"I was shocked to find the Kiwis as big as 8.88/1 to win this game, with Paraguay 1.51 and the stalemate 4.4. Is the gulf in class between these sides really as big as those prices suggest? I think not."

Brown needs to play, and he needs to wear a bandage. Someone should whack him on the head with a super stubbie before the game.

No corners will limit chances to score so we must go down the flanks and create opportunities or pressure to create corners.

I want to believe...

can't believe that Paston would not start, after his performances.

But I do think the players may be up against the wall a bit, physically,  after the last two heroic performances.

I have some money on the draw. I am  a piss-poor dreamer, but god, if only.... but I do think Paraguay will be far better than Italy (not that the Azurri covered themselves in glory to their own fans against us)

Now all I need is a decent atmosphere in the Charles Dickens Inn in Collins St, downtown Melbourne. The Slovakia game had a great White Noise vibe but Italy was disappointing.

Just me and a dozen others jumping up and down and screaming!
