Watching it here in Graz, Rooney & Lampard were the only ones giving it a go. Walcott had his moments.
Still despite sone very impressive efforts, you're not going to score goals unless you pass the ball occasionally.

Sometimes wonder if these warm up games are worth it:All the so called "top teams" are highly unimpressive,with players trying not to get hurt,and generally p*ssing about.
Years ago Cloughie reckoned these games were a waste of time,and he'd rather have the players sitting on the beach somewhere:from what we've seen from England,Serbia,Portugal & France,he could be right...
Oh and bye bye Darren Bent methinks...

Back to the squad, who else thinks it'll be a shame if Adam Johnson doesn't make the cut? I'd love to see him included, even at the expense of Joe Cole, who turns 29 soon and is starting to look like he will be one of the latest unfulfilled English talents. I know he's won over 50 caps and a pile of trophies but he hasn't really achieved as much as he was expected to at 17.

Adam Johnson - from what I've seen this season, not only should he be in the squad, he should be pushing for a start. He's full of confidence at the moment and has that ability to beat a man.....get him in I say

In terms of Welly then - The kiwi pub, 4 Kings, anywhere else to consider? Looking for atmosphere with other England fans and a few screens to ensure we can see the game well.......I've leave the buffalo wings though....especially at 6am

Wow, I didn't see Walcott's exclusion coming, but I guess if you think about the signs were there. Too little football, too many injuries, too slow to get back to form after them. Still, I did think he was one of the sure-ins.

Darren Bent is probably philosophical about it missing out. Deep down he's probably known for a while that Capello doesn't rate him.

Warnock (whose whole England career thus far amounts tp less than 10 minutes) in for Baines is a shock, Baines should have kept his mounth shut re: homesickness.

I hope Johnson, Huddlestone and Dawson are a part of the set up for years to come. Just a bit too early for them I think.

The final squad is drawn from 6 EPL teams (2-4 players per team).

You'd think this squad should be able to gel considering that they will know each other's strengths pretty well by now.

I find it a bit surprising that SWP is in and Johnson not, considering that Johnson kept him out of the City side in the latter half of the season.

I look at that forward line, and if I were an England fan I'd be praying to whoever would listen for Rooney not to break down/have a stupid moment of red mist.

In FourFourTwo's World Cup edition, they go through the turnaround of the England reputation over the last decade. Apparently, amongst non-English supporters we are the most common second favourite team. Quite a change from 20-odd years ago.
