Comparing to Wood, born 7 December 1991, his debut was in April 2009, so he was also 17 and 4 months, but I dont know the exact date, so he could have been just younger or older than Howieson, and of course it was one level up in the Premier League against Portsmouth.

Features prominently on the Burnley website this week - video interview and match footage of Burnley Development side v Blackpool here (need to sign up at 10p / day to view videos):
DEVELOPMENT SQUAD 0 BLACKPOOL 1Summer signing George Porter completed 90 minutes as the Development Squad lost 1-0 to Blackpool at Gawthorpe.
And the former Leyton Orient winger, sidelined by an ankle injury in the early stages of the season, went closest to an equaliser for the Clarets as he hit a post in an improved second-half performance.
Teenage midfielder Cameron Howieson also made his first appearance since being given a break following his summer schedule with New Zealand's national and Olympic teams.
Howieson's pass was struck against the woodwork by Porter as Burnley looked to cancel out a 44th-minute strike from Blackpool midfielder Curtis Thompson.Thompson - son of former Clarets' midfielder Steve - stroked the ball home after Burnley had surrendered possession at the back.
And Blackpool almost doubled their lead after an hour when Adda Djeziri hit a long-range effort against the bar.

Cameron Howieson returned to Burnley colours
The Clarets had gone close in the first half when Porter charged down a clearance with the ball bouncing just wide and Keith Treacy, who played for the opening 45 minutes, shooting at the keeper following a one-two on the edge of the box.
Burnley, watched by boss Eddie Howe, then stepped it up after the break but couldn't force a leveller in the latest of their series of behind-closed-doors games with Stevie Hewitt seeing an effort saved after Porter had just failed to connect with a fine Shay McCartan cross.
Burnley: Nizic, Williams (Richardson 40), Conlan, Coleman, Errington, Hewitt, Love, Howieson (Daly 77), Porter, Treacy (Evans ht), McCartan.

Good stuff
"Burnley's Development Squad beat Manchester City's youngsters 3-1 at Carrington on Tuesday in their latest behind-closed-doors friendly.
The young Clarets won thanks to goals from Cameron Howieson (pictured), Jason Gilchrist and George Porter."
Hopefully he starts getting some game time again for the first team.
Scored one, and set up another for the reserve team last night.
He seems to have started off very well this year, can't be too far away from getting another first team chance.
Its amazing how far this boy has come... he really did look out of his depth at the u17 world cup only a year or two ago, to now where he is.
With Burnley firing their manager it will be interesting to see if he falls in the pecking order a little bit, or moves up a few places.
Love to see him getting some game time again.
I thought Eddie went to the Cherries on his own accord

I know, I know, its serious!
Time to get that famous Burnley youth programme rolling again: always used to be good at nicking Geordie lads
from the " big " clubs...
On a sad note: former Burnley great John Connelly died yesterday: a fast, direct winger who scored over 100 goals for Burnley
and played in the title winning 1960 team, '62 cup final, and this sounds bizarre, in Burnley's European cup run(reached Q.finals!!!).
Also won the title again at Man Utd with Bestie & Co and was part of the England '66 World cup squad(20 caps). A helluva good winger according to the " old 'uns "...

Cam just captained the Burnley youth team to a 4-3 win over Man Utd at Old Trafford in the FA Youth Cup 3rd round.
Cameron scored Burnley's opening goal with the other 3 by Jason Gilchrist. A great day for the young Clarets.
New manager Sean Dyche is a strong supporter of youth football / development (that was his background at Watford). Cam's in a good place and his time will come.
I know, I know, its serious!
Lost to Everton 2 - 1 but scored form a free kick for Burnley and almost got another
Doncaster is 3rd in League One atm. Hope he does well, helping them clinch promotion would be good for the CV.

thats great news
Doubt it. It will just be to do with player availability. You don't sign someone then decide there not up to it without having even let them on the park. Plus, they are winning the league and have won the three games since howieson arrived so not simple tobreakinto a winning side.
Got a bit of competition too: John Lundstram on loan from Everton. A really top notch prospect for the Toffees...

he was out with the flu
Suspected something like this as his manager clearly really rates him and would have him regularly on the bench.
Cam was on the bench for last week's 2-1 mid-week away win over Shrewsbury.
Game time seems guaranteed before season's end, despite other midfielders coming into contention currently, according to this report from last week's "South Yorkshire Times" 26/02/13:
"Flynn has promised Howieson will get a chance to impress before the end of the season.
But he has urged him to be ready for the call to come.
He said: “Cameron will get his chance, he then just has to take it.
“He’s definitely going to be involved with us before he goes away with New Zealand next month.
“I’ve got a lot of confidence in the lad and I’m sure he’ll be fine when he gets that chance.”
Howieson is again likely to be on the bench as Rovers travel to Shrewsbury Town tonight.
He was named among the substitutes for Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Yeovil Town on Saturday but was not used.
Competition for places in central midfield has intensified following the return to fitness of David Syers and Paul Keegan, plus the addition of John Lundstram who made his debut last weekend after joining on loan from Everton.

Yet again on the bench and not used. Not really sure the point of going on loan. Surely their own youngsters could do that
But somehow still makes the bench?! Good experience I guess but valid point ^^
