Waine on the bench for Mansfield. Socceroo Baccus starts.

Tzanev on the pine for NT. Still no Dibley-Dias.

Waineo on in the 77th min (1-0) in a 2-0 away win. Mansfield up to 5th.
Tzanev watches his team lose.

Waineo played key role for second goal. Picked up the ball in his own half and raced through to the penalty area. Got tackled as he was about to shoot, the ball broke free and fellow sub Lewis  put it in the net.
Highlights of the game on you tube show his run

Running down towards the away Mansfield Town fans as well, way to make yourself popular early on. MT in the yellow, their keeper makes a good save from a pen in the first half.

That’s good to see!

Looks like he should definitely make an impact on that level. It does look like it’s perhaps not as good as the A league?

Just wish he would get abit longer then 15mins at the end, he was getting the same at Plymouth and doing the same, if he could just get a couple of starts in a row think he could really spring to life

It is a long season, he will get his chances. The better he does in these bench appearances, the sooner that chance will come.

Mansfield's next two L1 games are within the space of a few days. Surely Waine gets a start in one of them, give Evans some rest.

Or yes, at least more minutes off the bench.

The manager doesn’t know him. He has to force his way into a start by being awesome. Hopefully a good start to that.

Mixed bag for Waineo. Gets several good mentions from his manager, but in the context of how good their attack has been and how well their starting strike partnership is working.

No free lunches in the football league, even if you’re playing well!

Off the mark for Mansfield! Scored the second in a 2-0 win (subbed on at half-time). Apparently a great strike too, after butchering a 1v1 previously
01 Oct 21:08
Great stuff. Mansfield up to 3rd looking a promotion contender
01 Oct 22:38
Makes me happy to see him treated like this!!

Good footwork by Waine before the strike that led to the goal.

Smeltz would be proud and hey maybe that goal might earn Waine his first L1 start for Mansfield on the weekend.

Beaten to it with the goal footage.

Nigel Clough
mentioned Lee Gregory has a hamstring strain and is in doubt for Saturdays match against Blackpool.

So a potential start for the Waine train!!

Clough on Waine:
"Ben Waine's gone clear what 10 minutes to go and not managed to finish but then in the 90th minute uh much more difficult chance with somebody to beat and he's come inside and put in the bottom corner with his left foot. Magnificent finish and he's done ever so well when he's when he's come on 45 minutes tonight and I think that goal will uh help his confidence an awful lot he's Relentless isn't he he's uh somebody who never seems to give up no that's what you that's what you need and uh especially when you're coming on you know um 45 doesn't matter 20 minutes to go whatever you need that um sort of you know going keeping going at Defenders not giving them a minute and it's as much about you you work without the ball. As it is with the ball at that stage of the game when you one nil up away from home"

Looks like he's now trying a little train conductor post goal celebration. That's new?

Nigel Clough the manager with some really good Waine praise about half way through this 5 min post match interview. Sounds like 36 yr old Lee Gregory their starting talisman striker (6 goals in 8 L1 matches), had a hammy twinge, so came off at HT. Must yes mean Waine is a good shout to start on the weekend, hosting Blackpool (6th)

One of Mansfield's better players Socceroo Keanu Baccus also came off at HT.

Mansfield got promoted from League Two last season (were 3rd), and are likely overachieving in 3rd at this early stage of the L1 campaign. 4 consecutive wins now. But hey hopefully the perfect fit for Waineo, and his last 2 games (sort of an assist & goal)- both times running towards the away MT fans - should quickly make him a new fan favourite.

MT's game against Exeter City scheduled for 13th Oct has now been postponed. Clough, Waine & Baccus will be happy about that.

I had a feeling something was wrong when I saw Gregory had been subbed so early. Ultimately though, I chucked it down to Clough deciding to give Gregory a rest, considering he’s their top scorer and has started/played the full 90+ mins in pretty much every L1 game so far, and giving Waine some more minutes in the system after his last performance off the bench. Plus the fact Mansfield have another game in just a few days so likely want their top striker not to feel too tired or fatigued.

Another goal on the weekend for Waine would give him an even bigger boost going into the Tahiti and Malaysia matches.

Another angle of his goal. Really wouldn't expect him to score from there.

It’s always good to hear the club TV chap clearly on the Waine train!
‘Relentless isn’t he?’

That goal really comes out of nothing and the defender doesn’t give him that much space either.

The relief in that celebration!

Really hopefull this is the move/ season that settles him into brittish football

Well Mansfield is only about 25kms from Nottingham, so his AWs captain and mentor, couldn't be closer for some weekly sage advice.

I mean surely Chris and the new Mrs Wood, have spare bedroom, where young Ben could kip down for the season? In the spirit of the great Kiwi OE and 'dossing'.

His gaffer at Mansfield was a fairly effective and successful striker in his own right!  Am sure he's got good advice coming from all angles :)

05 Oct 13:07
Waine starts
05 Oct 20:18
2-0 win.

Guess he put in another good shift. Hopefully the goal return starts to match the work rate at some point.
05 Oct 22:09
No goals or assists, but the second highest ranked player for Mansfield - so whilst he didn't get the above, he must have been making things happen.
22 Oct 21:04
Starts and 72 mins (2-1) as MT get back on the winning horse 2-1 away

Baccus the 2nd goal. Another Aussie Tyrese Francois who was with Dibley-Dias at Fulham, full game for Wigan
22 Oct 23:24
Mansfield Town stay 4th. This was their 6th win in the last 7 games.
They host L1 leaders Birmingham City this weekend.

MT currently only 9 spots below Waine's parent club Plymouth (20th in the Championship) in the EFL pyramid.

30 Oct 07:13
I see Waineo for a run for their u21's in a 3-0 win. No goals for him tho.
03 Nov 21:15
Came on at 60 minutes and scored.
03 Nov 22:58
3rd goal in a 4-0 win. Curzon Ashton went down to 10 men very early on in the 16th min.

09 Nov 12:36
Gregory starts. Waineo on the bench. Baccus also starts.
