Decent article by FIFA on our front page.
San Jose took the lead on Sercan Guvenisik's penalty kick in the 31st minute, after Suggs' cross into the box caught Dan Keat, playing in central defense, in the arm. Guvenisik had to convert twice -- his first shot was waved off after Quakes rookie Cesar Diaz Pizarro (from Chino Hills and UC Riverside) ran into the box ahead of the kick.

I watched the game at the olympic stadium in montreal and Keat had a shaky start and was at fault for the impact goal. But after that he had a pretty solid game especially he was very good in the air even if he is only 5 ft 11
U can see the highlights on mls website. Re the Montreal goal, Keat should gave been backing off deeper in anticipation of a flick on and left himself in a foot race with the striker - but he got no favors from the other centre back who made a total meal of the defensive header to put the striker through.
By the way, over 60,000 turned out to watch that game - biggest crowd ever for a football game in Canada.
And all that just to see our ginger make his first appearance of the season!

I couldn't spot him standing behind el Presidente.
We will never fully decide who has won the football.
I think thats him with the chandelier behind him?

I don't understand the decision of the galaxy to not release Keat for the AW's. He wasn't even on the bench in the last 2 games of LA

Galaxy forward Edson Buddle and midfielder/defender Dan Keat have undergone surgeries on the right meniscuses and are expected to miss three to six weeks.
Keat, a second-year holding midfielder the Galaxy is converting into a defender, hasn't played since going the full 90 minutes in central defense May 12 at Montreal. His knee injury was first disclosed a week later and forced him to miss New Zealand's first-stage matches at the OFC Nations Cup, the top competition in the Oceania Confederation
With Brown retired how much did Keat being injured hurt us in Honiara. Quite a lot I think - no specialist holding mid outside of Ivan who got dropped back into the back three

Central or fullback?

He played centrally in the game against Montreal.
second-year midfielder/defender Dan Keat, who underwent meniscus surgery at the end of May, was a second-half substitute.
Keat, whose injury cost him a shot at the Olympics with New Zealand, says he, too, is ready to contribute.
“[It has] just been a long, frustrating couple of months,” Keat said. “We keep working at making my [right] knee stronger, and it's getting to where I can get back and compete for spots. Hopefully, I can contribute in the second half of the season.”
Keat and Buddle rehabilitated their knees together, on nearly parallel paths. That made the time away a little easier.
“[Our surgeries] were four days apart, and at different stages, we've been ahead of each other,” Keat said. “It's been frustrating, because a couple of times it's two steps forward, one step back. When you rely on your body to make a living, you've got to take those hits, I suppose.”

I would like to see Keat in midfield with Mcglinchey vs Tahiti at some point in the game. I watched Keat playing a game in the MLS vs Montreal as a CB and he looked pretty confortable in the air even if he isn't the tallest guy(1,80 m)
the other teams in the league can still get him - although that time frame must end reasonably soon?
Maybe Nellie will pick him to play at Toronto? Mentioned on the news that Nellie was interesting in getting Marco Rojas to Canada.
heard on sports news he is currently in Cornwall looking for a club in the UK.
Cornwall? wtf there's bugger all half decent clubs down there!! must be just basing himself there?
There's Turo FC down there who are doing OK and being Cornwall's only decent footie club they have a keen following. PAFC needs some decent midfielders, I'd like to think he's at least good enough to be a League Two squad player. Maybe he should give us a call (PAFC that is).
jeez i'd like to think he's better than league 2...
I'm not so sure about that. Would like to be proved wrong though.
Auckland will rise once more
