That's an impressive crowd for the LA Derby.

He should have tried to leave Turkey for the MLS a few seasons ago. Better late than never I guess. Bangs a few more like that in, and he may just get a recall to USNMT.

No point getting hung up on it, but given how AWs struggle to score against the bigger teams.......

Lets hope he has a banger of a year - someone pays big money for him to go abroad to France or similar and the NIX get a little money from him.

Interesting at 3:30 he describes himself as "half American" and "kinda patriotic".
You know we belong together...

Note he also mentioned his folks were living in NZ. For some reason I thought they resided Stateside.

Another MLS goal for Boyd in a 3-0 win over Chicago.
His 5th in 27 MLS games for the Galaxy.

He's playing well and scoring some nice goals. I wonder if a recall is inline, or a moe back to Europe, although saying that, the MLS is not a bad standard and the crowds are pretty impressive now.

He is on $350k USD a season right now & trying to get back into USA contention, so I would think it is unlikely.

He still has a chance (if slim) of playing in a home World Cup in 2026. A big deal in anyone’s career. He’lll be staying in the MLS.

Nashville drew 2-2 with Inter Miami in a CONCACAF Champions League tie 1st leg last week. Full game Boyd, with Messi & Suarez Miami's scorers.

Agruably that makes Boyd the first 'Kiwi' I think to ever be on the same football pitch as the GOAT. 2nd leg this week in Florida. After that Nashville play Tuiloma's Charlotte.

CONCACAF Champions League tie 2nd leg.
Boyd lines up against Barcelona Old Boys FC. Jordi Alba, Busquets, Messi & Suarez all starting for Inter Miami.

It will be Espanol in the Miami changing rooms. Run on eleven - Messi has 3 Argentinian team mates, Uruguayan Suarez, plus the two Spaniards. Then an Argy coach.

Edit - Suarez with the early goal to put Miami up 3-2 on agg

Miami won 3-1. Messi & Suarez a goal each. Boyd a full game for Nashville.
Bit if a thrill come up against the GOAT no doubt.

Glaring misses like this won't see him back in Team USA contention.
Did well however to recover from that shocker, to score the winning goal later, his first for Nashville.

It’s a good run, but needs the composure to hit it with his left immediately after rounding the keeper. Looked a little off balance.

And as we have learned from England you can have a wealth of players of beautiful passers in the team, but they need runners ahead to be any use.

From Flying Kiwis. Some sad news for Boyd, done his ACL.

Nashville SC: “Nashville Soccer Club announced today it has placed midfielder Tyler Boyd on the Season-Ending Injury List. Boyd will undergo Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) reconstruction surgery in the upcoming weeks.”

That’s some awful news. Boyd had just been finding his feet at his new team, starting a few more games and scoring a couple of goals, and now his season is over. He came off the bench for the last half hour of a 3-0 loss to Orlando City (NSC’s fifth defeat in a row – they’ve since lost a sixth heading into the Leagues Cup) but then hit the deck with a non-contact injury in stoppage time. Boyd had been closing down an opponent when his leg buckled under him and would to be stretchered off the pitch.

Horrid luck for a bloke who seemed to have found himself a steady spot in the MLS, perhaps even harbouring hope of getting back into the USA squad someday. The consolation is that he remains under contract with Nashville until 2026 (with a club option for an additional year) so if all goes to plan he should be back on the pitch early next season.

Tyler Boyd made the matchday squad for Nashville SC’s 5-1 win against Orlando City. He didn’t end up playing but he’s almost there with his comeback, more than 400 days after tearing his ACL.

That's really tough for him, to be out so long and hobbling around.
400 days is a long time when you're a young man and a physicaly active sportsman.
Doesn't seem so long any more though when you're about twice his age like I am....

You'd think another MLS club would pick him up.

https://www.friendsoffootballnz.com/2026/01/11/former-all-white-tyler-boyd-set-to-move-from-mls-club-nashville-sc/

Former New Zealand international winger Tyler Boyd has been put on the transfer market by Major League Soccer club Nashville SC.

The club have placed him on their waivers list for 48 hours, and if he isn’t sought by another MLS club, he will be available to move to any team on a first-come, first-served basis.

Boyd (31) has completed two seasons at the club, who have an option to extend the contract for 2027.

According to Yahoo!Sports, the Tauranga-born player earned US$1.1 million (NZ$1.8 million) in 2025, making him Nashville’s fifth-biggest earner.

After joining from LA Galaxy in late 2023, Boyd’s first season at Nashville was ended when he tore his ACL (anterior cruciate ligament), an injury that required reconstruction surgery.

Always annoyed me Ernie didn’t play him more and that the times he played for the All Whites never locked him in

Boyd carefully avoided callup requests by Hudson (2016 OFC Nations Cup comes to mind) to avoid being cap tied to NZ, when he took a punt he was on the radar for future USMNT selection.
