WC 2018 and 2022 Announcements

Don't be surprised to see a dismantled Qatari stadium turn up in Tahiti...or Otara or Manakau City, post 2022, for the benefit of the "impoverished masses" in Oceania Football.

Now if Temarii also secured Phoenix entry into the AFC Champs I might be happier!

Scotland has already made its stand for solidarity with England, they won't be going to the World Cup finals in 2014, 2018, 2022, 2026 or 2030.

According to National Radio news this am  FIFA's own technical advisory team said it was absolutely not a suitable environment for the players,and potentially dangerous with the extreme heat.. 50degrees.. likely at that time of year.
Will be interesting, air conditioning in stadiums for the game.. fine.. What about the training facilities??

Strong rumour has it that the two men pictured below wanted to take charge of the presentation and had a sit in. They also wanted to change the the title of the bid from "England United" to...

Should be interetsing having a World Cup in an almost alcohol free country:
 
The laws of Qatar tolerate alcohol to a certain extent. However, the few bars and nightclubs in Qatar operate only in expensive hotels and clubs, much Distribution Company, the only importer and retailer for alcohol in Qatar. Under Qatar's Sharia, it is illegal to show alcohol or be drunk in public.

Its no longer a problem.

England and Australia i'm sure were both very aware of the "rules" before they started the bidding process they just chose to ignore them!

I also think, that in Australia's case, that although the thought of holding the World Cup has its merits I think that the $46Mill that the Australian Government gave to the WC Bid could have been spent on ensuring the country has stronger youth academies and a stronger National League, therefore greatly increasing their chances of actually winning the trophy rather than just hosting the Finals.
 
This in turn then would lend itself nicely to any future WC Hosting bids they may have.

No it wouldn't. Pretty sure the Qatar bid has proved once and for all that if you have the money, you'll be right. Qatar have the money to pull off the most extravagant World Cup to date. Fair enough. There might be more to it than a seemly blanket statement like that, but you would have to ask C-Diddy.

You do have to wonder how they will embrace it in a country with a similar population to Auckland and a total area that is smaller than the Falklands.

Either way i'd wager Blatter's legacy lies with this tournament.

Mafia and oil won todays bids, i'm truly gutted for England and Aussie. I can't believe both were knocked in the 1st round. absolute sh*t that is.

Firstly, the confederation allocations and qualifying routes may well be different by the time the qualifying for 2022 starts.

If everything stayed the same, the play-off would still be the same 5th placed Asian team against the Oceania winner. The confederation that hosts the World Cup always has an extra spot for that particular tournament (the reason why there were 6 African teams in SAF a few months ago rather than CAF's designated 5 spots).

I'm picking Qatar to be the first country who fails to qualify for the World Cup they're hosting.  I wonder if that's occurred to them yet.

Exceot that as hosts they qualify automatically, which hrts us, coz they probs wouldn't have made the top 4 four in asia meaning we have to play fourth in asia.

Didn't they make 2010 the last World Cup where hosts qualify automatically?  So starting in 2014 hosts have to qualify the same as everyone else.

And even when there was automatic qualification, if an Asian state was hosting then the number of spots the confederation had wasn't taken down from 4.5 to 3.5 - Asia just gets an extra representative

Don't know where you get that from. Brazil certainly won't be going through the qualifying for 2014.

That's been around for a couple of World Cups now - Brazil had to qualify for Germany 2006 and Italy for South Africa 2010.
