Go the Bengals! (As my Vikes are out I have to cheer for the team I placed a fiver on to win the AFC Champs)

29 Dec 06:58

Huge day in the NFL tomorrow, and I can watch it all! Yays.

29 Dec 07:14

I'm planning about 10 hours on the couch tomorrow, Sommet Sports have two games on (not very important games, but games none the less), and then I'm going have to follow my Ravens as they inevitably lose to the Bengals. Should be a fun four-team race for that sixth spot.

And then of course, Eagles v Cowboys and Packers v Bears should both be high-scoring, entertaining games.

Plus, a fantasy and picks title on the line. Gotta love NFL Mondays

29 Dec 07:17

It's total craziness in the NFC, it's almost like play-offs have come one week too soon. Stoked that I'm not limited to watching the first half of the early games and then catching up on the rest of the action after work.

I reckon I'm backing the Packers and the Eagles, although the Cowboys have a propensity for the hilarious, I could very well see Kyle Orton leading them to victory (maybe even in the clutch, perhaps?) and then everyone going "Does Romo deserve the starter's job in the playoffs??".

As for the Packers, seems like they may be taking a big risk on Rodgers but Rodgers + Lacy against an abysmal Bears defence is probably going to be good enough. Should be plenty of points.

And of course, isn't there still a convaluted Saints scenario for you to worry about el grap? Cards v 49ers could throw a spanner into the works if Brees can't get it going.

29 Dec 07:49

Yeah, we're in the crazy situation of possibly being anywhere from no 2 seed to out of the playoffs completely depending on how tomorrow goes. Although to be fair, if we can't beat the Bucs at home, probably shouldn't even be in the playoffs.

This season will renew calls for redesigning the playoff system - there will be at least 3 teams, maybe more, in the playoffs with a worse regular season record than the NFC team that misses out on the playoffs entirely.

Agree on your Packers/Eagles pick btw, but Rodgers will have to be fully fit, and not just playing because it's effectively a knock out game.

I thought Romo was done for the year? PTI were talking about it on the podcast

Grumpy old bastard alert

His injury would suggest that, but the Cowboys organisation, dysfunctional as ever, seem intent on throwing him under the bus and pretending he is a possibility to play for some reason.
Ravens miss the playoffs for the first time in ages, hopefully the Chargers can beat Kansas City B so we don't have to see the Steelers in the mix.
30 Dec 00:46

Well that was an eventual few hours. Crazy finishes to Packers v Bears and Chargers v Chiefs, hilarious to see the Steelers get knocked out in that fashion.

Hopefully Eagles v Cowboys also tosses up some drama

30 Dec 02:19

Potential Eagles v Saints match-up next week. News, are you up for a date if it eventuates?

05 Jan 00:58

Anyone watching this Colts-Chiefs game? Remarkable comeback from the Colts.

Three for me, and two for them.

That was crazy, hopefully the other games live up to that...
05 Jan 04:29

Two really quality games to begin, and Packers v 49ers is bound to be a great one regardless of the play just because of the predicted crazy weather. I'm just hoping Cincy v San Diego isn't a total dud.

Think the Saints did deserve the win in the end, played good defence, their run defence has come along massively since the joke of last season. Tough beat HN.

You may notice a slight modification to the title of this thread.
Thought the win today was well deserved, the Lewis injury made that game a lot closer than it really was. Next week away to Seattle, no expectations this time around so hopefully I won't be fidgeting around the full 3 hours...

Watching that game reminded me of the Saints defence from last season. And that's not a compliment to either team.
11 Jan 21:03

yay playoff day! saints v seahawks and patriots v colts

I want seahawks and colts to win.

I like tautologies because I like them.

Me too

Colt? Bill Belichick and Tom Brady. Can't see Colts getting up.

Grumpy old bastard alert

Every single year since 05, there has been a big upset in this stage of this playoffs, if that trend continues (and the Saints lose, which is looking likely due to several reasons), then either the Colts or the Chargers are going to pull one out of the hat.

It's the Chargers I tell you :D GO BOLTS!!! (Gotta support someone with my Vikes gone :P)
12 Jan 04:39

Good grinding from Seahawks. I like Andrew Luck but Colt's defence is too crap.

13 Jan 07:25

:sigh: Can't believe I'll be cheering on the 49ers to get to the Superbowl for the second season running.

13 Jan 08:18

It's kinda a no win situation from here, once your team gets eliminated (in my case: Ravens), we're left with: Peyton Manning, who I enjoy seeing choke in the playoffs, Brady and the Pats (booooring), Seattle and their drugged-up defence, and the niners and their general boasting and arrogance.

Where's the underdog to root for! At least there'll be some superb games this weekend.

13 Jan 21:37

go Seahawks! I like their defensive power

I like Peyton, wouldn't mind him winning another Superbowl.
Seattle and San Francisco are my two least favourite teams in the NFC outside NFC South (well, Dallas too) so it's a shocking NFC Championship pairing for me for the second year in the row. At least it will be fun to watch them bash each other senseless in that game.
17 Jan 00:00

So #1 thing for me is that the Hawks beat the 9ers.

Soooo sick of the Kaepernick is the greatest crap... :D

Past that I am less caring, just want good games.

17 Jan 06:35

All the hype around Kaepernick (and Wilson to a lesser extent) is just that, hype.

These teams win because of defense, not because of the QB play. Easy to be QB when you have that kind of D and beastly RBs too.

500% I now ignore 99% of ESPN tweets, as they are just Kaepernick love... :(

Right, big night ahead. Brady vs Manning, followed by Kap vs Wilson. Still hungover from last night so hoping to stay awake for 1.5 games (wished they were the other way round, but thems the breaks).

Gone for the Pats with the spread first up, along with Blount to rush for over 72 yards

Edit - the spread is 4.5

All I do is make the stuff I would've liked
Reference things I wanna watch, reference girls I wanna bite
Now I'm firefly like a burning kite
And yousa fake fuck like a fleshlight

19 Jan 22:06

looking like a blow-out. I hate both these teams - waiting for Seahawks...

I like tautologies because I like them.
19 Jan 23:24

26-16 to the Bronc's, and that score line flattered New England.  Blount rushed for about 6 yards.

No idea how the next game is going to pan out, but going to go with Seattle minus the spread (4.0).  Also going with Golden Tate to score (was going for Percy Harvin, but he seemed injured last week, and Tate has a cooler name), and Lynch to rush for over 88 yards.

Pretty sure that I am a terrible gambler

Well, that game was basically a perfect representation of what the NFL is. Incredible athletic plays, great throws, big hits, gruesome injuries and classless trash talk. All the good and the bad rolled up into one.

49ers got some shit calls though.

I really, really hope Peyton tears the Seahawks a new one.

20 Jan 07:20

Manning is unreal. Up there with the best QB's ever.

Three for me, and two for them.

20 Jan 07:22

not if he talks about Sherman..
