Saw Dallas Buyers Club last night - very good.  Matthew McConaughey's weight loss was Hard News-esque.

Monuments Men on Saturday night...a bit typical of all American War movies, with Americans saving the entire free world, but not a bad watch based (very) loosely on a true story

Just finished the book, some of the Americanisms were cringe worthy. Felt like it could have done so much more with what was a pretty amazing story. Interested to see the film as I haven't heard positive things.

Your better of watching the Nat Geo and history channel docos that cover this stuff. Much more factual and probably better storytelling.

Bit disappointed in the second hunger games. Hate it when a movie is set up for number three

Bit disappointed in the second hunger games. Hate it when a movie is set up for number three. But if anyone wants to know what sparked the hunger games watch the Japanese movie Battle Royale. Tarintinos favourite movie of all time.

Same. But its kind of expects when it's based on a series of books isn't it?
But you're right, so many movies do that now, have a beginning, middle then a cliffhanger for the 'next movie' instead of an ending, pisses me off.
Didn't really mind it in hunger games though.

Yep, exactly like that.

Captain America kind of did the same thing. Though that is more introducing an alternate story after the main one had an ending.

Machete kills, the bad guy gets away into space, Machete says he is going to go after him, then the movie ends. Sick of it.

I see The Raid 2 is out soon. The Raid was on Rialto a couple of weeks ago. An Indonesian movie about a SWAT team caught up in a tower bloke filled with baddies. First class action and martial arts - really well done and relentless,

Watched "No. 42" last night. Harrison Forde had to act in it and did a pretty good job of it too. Excellent film about an excellent baseball player - Jackie Robinson. Sadly, I don't think much has changed in the "Good ol Boy" states since 1947 either.

Funny thing about baseball films, I usually think "nah, not into baseball", watch a bit anyway and get really into it. Will check it out when it appears on sky.

Field of Dreams is in my top 5 favourite films, Major League is funny, Angels in the Outfield is a great family flick and the Sandlot three films were good family watching too. For the love of the game and Bull Durham were both very good. Next up that Clint Eastwood movie Trouble with the Curve. Hope to watch that soon.

Watched "Trouble with the Curve". good film. Baseball is the basis for it but it is more about a father / daughter relationship. I thoroughly enjoyed it. A solid story and good acting from all concerned.
