Farking hell! Me and my brother turn up to the cricket today at the Events Centre and we got told its gonna be $15 for Adults and $5 for kids. Last night on the phone we got told it was free!! So we snuck through the gym but got caught and asked to leaved. F**k you Otago Cricket..
The price was adverstised in the paper and radio. Sure the EC made a mistake, but the EC is not Otago Cricket, so thats a bit harsh on them.
Oh yeah the main thing was 15 dollars to watch Otago play Canterbury!!! 5 for me but 15 for my bro. They can F**k off.

Those prices are more than reasonalbe IMHO. I went to the game in Alex vs Welly and was more than happy to pay $15, which isn't much. Good ground, good weather, by my count at least 10 fmr internationals, good game. What would you suggest as a better price? Considering a 2hour S14 match at the same venue costs at least $20.

I was thinking of taking my uncle who's visiting from England and my dad on on Monday. But for 3 of us it's going to cost almost $100!    So will flag and watch on tele, which does break my heart cause I love the basin and no better place to watch cricket.

Completly agree $33 for a day of test cricket is a joke. $20 for test matches is about where it should be.

Agreed. I'd go for a $50-60 match pass myself.

$75 + booking fee (even if you 'book' at the gate on the way into the ground).

I guess that considering they price according to the quality of opposition Pakistan is worth $1 less per day than Aussie.

Its funny, people whinge about how people jump on and off the bandwagon for the Nix and wont support their team come anything. Now because we are playing like sh*t and its expensive (no more expensive than a Nix game really) you all can't be bothered going.

Because $33 is daylight robbery.

Three for me, and two for them.

NZC are only charging $25 (which I think is a reasonable price for a days cricket), its Ticketek adding the extra $8 for god knows what.

I dont disagree that its expensive but I just think the double standard about supporting teams is funny.

Wrong, they charge $30 at the gate (which pissed me off as it was unadvertised - had cash to pay $55 but not to pay $66). Ticketek fee is only $3.

I still went even when I thought it was $25, but it put me off going for two days, I only went to one. NZC are forcing people to make those sort of choices by setting prices at that level. I just want us to get good crowds to test cricket, and NZC don't seem to be looking to make that happen.

I realise this is a World Cup year, but it just seems to me to be a continuation of NZCs continual disrespect for test cricket.aitkenmike2011-01-14 09:30:42

That is a good deal for five days. But I think there are very few that will actually go for five days. It's expensive if you want to go for two or three days. Maybe a three day pass would be a good idea?

$30 bucks a day for cricket is ridiculous, especially when the fanbase for test cricket is dwindling, if NZC want more bums on seats which in turn improves the atmosphere at games which will have a direct impact on future attendences then dropping the price to a reasonable daily rate ie $15 must happen...

Dunno how I missed that...ha

Basin is looking sharp and it's starting to buzz here.

Forcast: Sat  15  <!-- Wind -->  Fine. Northerly winds, rising to gale in exposed places during the afternoon.  0.0mm
13C   0.0mm
 19C   0.0mm
13C   0.0mm
22C  Sun  16  <!-- Cloud -->  Cloudy morning and evening, fine spells during the day.Strong gusty northerlies, easing at night.  0.3mm
16C   0.0mm
 20C   0.7mm
17C   0.0mm
22C  Mon  17  <!-- Fine -->  Becoming fine. Winds turning southerly for a time.  0.0mm
17C      0.0mm
18C     Tue  18  <!-- Rain -->  Cloudy with some rain at times. Blustery northerlies.         Wed  19  <!-- Fewshowers -->  A few showers. Winds turning northwest.

Looking OK to average for most of it but shouldn't be to much rain. Will be windy as f**k tomorrow. I'd make the Pakistanis bowl in that if NZ won the toss. The pitch shouldn't assist the bowlers too much either.

This forcast says the rain will only set in late on Tuesday evening so we might miss it all together. The forcast is likely to change though, they never seam to be able to predict what's going to happen when it's windy. This one is usually more accurate than the one above though.

I guess it's what you consider expensive. The cricket seems expensive in relation to what it used to be. But compared to other sports (including the Phoenix) it seems about right. Difficult to make a comparison as well, the cricket is an international fixture, most of the comparisons on here have been made to domestic sports.

Bit average that they have raised the single day prices but not the 5-day ones. Maybe they should look at a weekend pass or something.

Sorry man,
If being a supporter of a team means going to every game, paying whatever they charge you, and smiling as they rob you blind then I'm obviously not a Black Caps supporter.
I'm happy to pay for my member pass for the Phoenix every year, mainly because they (well at least mostly) show a bit of heart, respect their fans, and give their best.
Can't say I have the same feelings towards the black caps over the past year or so.

This a copy of what you sent to those Pakistani bookmakers?
There were no bids from the bookmakers on what I had to offer them. I think that was due to the fact they know we can't win and Pakistan can chose to win or lose, they're in control of this match!

Disclaimer: In no way have I been in contact with any Pakistani bookmakers, never have been and nor will I ever. (I think joking about this at the moment is frowned upon by some officials/players involved in this test match) I'd hate for some numpty to take me seriously.

Because we're shit and most of our players have about as much flair as a flat tyre.

Yeah, don't get that, from what I see of the Basins normal pitch it is hard, bouncy, and with a bit of green early which keeps some pace in the pitch (i.e. the complete opposite of the Hamilton sh*theap). Basin is almost always a bat first pitch for me.
