Very funny man.
He's also in "Would I Lie to You" with Rob Brydon. Very amusing.
I wish I had more English friends here in Oz. Always enjoy the banter

While I think he's an absolute Twit, I do like Clarkson's Farm.
I have an amazing ability to find my way out of mazes. I'm pathological.

While I think he's an absolute Twit, I do like Clarkson's Farm.

Clarkson is mostly a philandering, racist, anti environment, misogynist cod. Some of his anti woke stuff yes on point though.

Since when did treating people with respect and allowing them to hold their own beliefs become WOKE?

Do the anti WOKE brigade want us to bring back segregation and ban te reo maaori in schools etc?

Thise were pretty WOKE ideas back in the day.

I was referring specifically to some (far from all) of the stuff Clarkson has raised.  I haven't heard him talking about segregation or Te Reo Maaori. Please share if he has.

Don't really like the guy, and disagree with alot of what he stays, but this one example below he is yes pointing out some of ridiculous. Great theatre 'The Globe'
Ahead of Antony and Cleopatra, the theatre warned audiences of “depictions of suicide, scenes of violence and war and misogyny references”.

So, letting people know that there may be scenes in a play/movie etc that they find challenging is WOKE.

I wish at times somebody had said to me - do you realise what is in this, or you are going to see. Laughable that people think society was better when people were less informed. Ignorance isn't bliss.

Regarding Te Reo - no he hasn't said anything, but it was more a reflection of our current political climate where individuals like Seymore and Peters will call anything they don't like WOKE, without defining what it is, or why something is WOKE.

It's because of this sort of stupidity that the world now sees Trump back in power.

Again I was just referring to Clarkson solely

If you are going to a play by the famous bard that he penned in 1604 (Othello), and you need to be warned it may contain references that are offensive to people 401 years later, you are an idiot. Apply common sense and call it for what it is. Overly woke. The actors and actresses who perform in these plays are. I doubt there is a profession with more liberal progressive employees on average than the thespian one.

If I go to watch Django Unchained a movie by Tarantino set during one of the world's darkest chapters - slavery - I can expect that the confronting N word maybe used multiple times.

Thankfully we live in the most enlightened times of human history. But it wasn't always that way. As per below history (often at it's worst) is there for us to learn from.

Last month, both actor, Ralph Fiennes, and Culture Secretary, Lucy Frazer, joined the previously outspoken, Ian McKellen, in calling for the end of the increasing number of trigger warnings on the bard’s plays.

Fiennes says people should be “shocked” and “disturbed” by the theatre, and in Shakespeare’s birthplace of Stratford, the recent trend has not been well received.

One woman told GB News: “It’s absolutely ridiculous, you just have to understand how the world was when those plays were written.

“There was no offence meant and you can’t rewrite history; history is there for us all to learn from.

Past experiences are not a valid reason for not making different changes today.

The warnings are there, not for you or I who may not need them but for those who maybe aren't away who Taratino is, or have an understanding of what times were like back in the day of Othello.

These warnings wont stop you from enjoying anything, but they may help others to make better decisions for themselves.

Again - been considerate of others is not WOKE - the word is so other used it is almost meaningless now.

Oh for sure the calling out of things as woke, is often just a shield to hide behind bigoted beliefs.

But man if you are so ill-informed that you didn't realise Venetians in 1604 may have had some racist spoken thoughts, go watch the Kardashians. It's just society pandering to the plain ignorant.

And you are wrong if you think these pre show messages ain't creating a negative experience for the performers or theatre goers. There won't be these complaints if they weren't.

Sorry getting off topic.

Just finished the first season of SILO - well worth a watch with some nice twists in it.

In a strange phenomenon I haven't encountered too much in television. I persevered with the first season thinking it didn't deliver on the promise of the standalone story first episode. The second season I thought was outstanding. Perfectly paced. Really found it's groove with the lore and premise.

In music it'd be perfectly normal to not rate a bands first album but go all in on the second or third. A bit more novel with TV. The first season felt like a run of the mill police procedural set amongst a dystopian backdrop. The second season was just incredible!

I know it's a cartoon but was anybody ever into King of the Hill back in the day?

They just released a revival set in modern times and against all odds I think its one of the rare examples of a reboot/revival that actually holds up against the original series. I was expecting and even wanted to dislike it but was pleasantly surprised. Still had the same charm of the original run, and felt like a fitting continuation of the characters all just a little older.
Really enjoyed it as a fan of the original series.

Watched Slow Horses. After I’d watched the original Guinness Smiley. Very much in that kind of a universe still. All the young kids games refer back to that time of the great games of the Cold War. No mention of anything closer to home and still a bit raw. Still reasonable thriller. Slow paced, but nice conceit of spies of The Breakfast Club.

Reacher is good but I’ve read this book recently enough to make it a bit annoying. And there’s this weird thing about data security with the HDMI cord which is crap.

Oh man, I’m jealous, if you have never seen breaking bad before.

Just in case you don’t know the deal, make sure you start with breaking bad before better call Saul.

Auckland will rise once more
