I really hope that doesnt have anything to do with your post earlier about losing white players and gaining brown players

Borderline racist. I don't particularly care what colour they are.

It's not racist at all. Ill put it differently for you then. We are loosing players that have done well at leading the warriors and are picking up players that don't show as much leadership.

When it's said that the dark players we have (or who are coming) aren't leaders, while some of the white players are is not racist at all.  It's speaking very specifically about what, less than 20 players?  The most obvious of differences (skin colour) is being used to bunch them together, and this generalization within the squad actually makes sense - the best leaders in the warriors (Price, Mannering, Tate) all happen to be white.  I mean, I don't see many people saying Wiki was a poor leader.  He was dark-skinned but could lead the team when required and was a great player to boot.

This by no means says that there aren't good leaders out there who aren't white, nor does it suggest the majority of good leaders are white.

Personally I don't care what colour they are either.  If there were blue players out there leading the team I wouldn't care - even if someone casually happened to point it out.  Just irritates me how everything is misconstrued as racist or bordering it.

You cant just pick and choose which laws to follow. Sure Id like to tape a baseball game without the express written consent of major league baseball, but thats just not the way it works.-Hank Hill

I'll admit when I wrote that I'd just seen a picture of Avatar.  So yes.

Just a random question but are there any Asians players playing in the nrl?
05 Jul 06:34 · edited 09 Sep 05:26
Apparently the Warriors just signed an ex Afghani refugee for fullback for the under 20s.

I think that was in the SST yesterday.
05 Jul 06:46 · edited 09 Sep 05:26
If you consider the middle east as asian's, there was Hazem El Masri who was born in Lebanon, and a few minor players with Lebanese heirtage currently playing.

In the Junior Warriors, there is an afghan refugee that made his debut on the weekend, Omar Slaimankhel.
05 Jul 06:47 · edited 09 Sep 05:26
I'm just guessing that Alex Chan is part Asian ?

Only got to see the first part of the game yesterday, how did Lewis Brown go in the centres? He impressed me when he was in the centres v the Broncos earlier this yr.
05 Jul 10:16 · edited 09 Sep 05:26
He was good. I only saw part of it too but what I saw was good an heard he had a stormer. He's been one of our form players. Versatile too.

Fuck this stupid game

05 Jul 21:13 · edited 09 Sep 05:26
Yeah Lewis was massive, as was Ropati back at fullback. Great handling from the boys given the conditions.
06 Jul 01:12 · edited 09 Sep 05:26
Ropati had an outstanding 2nd half at fullback (I didnt see the 1st half so cant comment there). Showed impressive acceleration and speed, especially so given how wet the track was.

J Ro was superb. The stats don't lie:

Most Metres in a Match in 2010

Jarryd Hayne (Eels) 291 v Storm at Parramatta Stadium Round 13
David Milne (Raiders) 285 v Cowboys at Dairy Farmers Stadium Round 14
Jerome Ropati (Warriors) 275 v Eels at Mt Smart Stadium Round 17
Josh Dugan (Raiders) 270 v Roosters at Canberra Stadium Round 17
Paul Gallen (Sharks) 252 v Eels at Toyota Stadium Round 4
Jarryd Hayne (Eels) 251 v Sea Eagles at Parramatta Stadium Round 2
Beau Ryan (Tigers) 248 v Eels at Sydney Football Stadium Round 3
Wade McKinnon (Tigers) 247 v Dragons at WIN Jubilee Oval Round 16
Kurt Gidley (Knights) 244 v Eels at EnergyAustralia Stadium Round 15
Shaun Kenny-Dowall (Roosters) 242 v Rabbitohs at ANZ Stadium Round 1

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Ropati is such a confidence player that fullback is perfect for him (if his first touch is good) as he gets his hands on the ball plenty of time with room and space to run at guys which isn't always the case in the centres.

Saying to Paulhinio on Sunday that the kind of display he showed Saturday makes me wonder what he could have been had he been allowed to mature into the 6 jersey.

Quality team performance though, ticking along nicely and building well. Next 3-weeks is absolutely vital - if we can pick up a win or two then a good spot in the 8 is very much within our grasp.

Loving what I am seeing from the Juniors aswell!

If we were to put Ropati at fullback. Where would we put Hohaia? Put him on the bench and use him as a impact player? I would prefer him to be on the field though
07 Jul 07:08 · edited 09 Sep 05:26
1 good game at fullback doesnt make him a great fullback tho, Im happy with him in the centres if Hohaia is available.

Qld for the whitewash tonight I think

Meh. I'll watch, not anywhere near as excited as usual though.

Being so one sided atm, does take the excitement away from it. Even when NSW was strong, it was always good to watch, seeing the spirit that QLD played with.

You got me there.

We still in this one. But I hate to say it Queensland look so much more deadlier.

Is anyone else loving how tight this years NRL is?

Warriors could enter the top 4 in the coming weeks.

Agreed, watching NSW put up tripe year after year has finally killed me.

NSW should look to find their own 'Mal Meninga', at that level the players shouldnt need to be coached, they need to be inspired and moulded into a team. I doubt he could run a NRL side on a day to day basis, but he does seem to get QLD playing as a team.

QLD does have most of the Kangaroos side atm, but in previous yrs NSW was similar, but QLD normally put up more fight than we have seen from NSW. They dont seem to have the same underdog spirit that QLD showed in similar situations.

I can see Phil Gould taking over again for next year, but alot of the problem seems to be how the team is picked, the coach is given the squad, rather than being able to pick it himself. There has been some outstanding players not picked this year, Robbie Farah for example.
08 Jul 01:29 · edited 09 Sep 05:26
Phil Gould wouldn't pick Robbie Farrah. He has said that on a number of ocassions on Sunday Roast, doesn't think he fits into the Origin style/dynamic. Same goes for Campese according to him.

Warriors v Panthers today KO 5pm.

Little bit scared about this game. Panthers are a very good team.

Hohaia out.

cant see them getting past the Panthers away from home

Yup 12-6 to warriors at halftime.

WE are playing decent league. But in saying that the panthers aren't very sharp. Little bit scared about there team still.

I don't understand when they go upstairs to check a try and the video ref sends back down that it is the Ref's call. The whole point in sending it upstairs was because he wasn't sure

Agree, with all the camera angles he gets he should make the decision. Try with benefit of the doubt or No Try.

Exactly. But does the ref get to see all the replays?
