They had a quote from the Mayor of New Zealand earlier.

To be honest, I feel guilty about complaining about such stupid things in the face of the tragedy unfolding down in Christchurch, but it just irks me.

I mean you're a leading international news network, how hard is it to get such basic facts right.

Come on now people. The Media can't even get facts about Terry's financial issues correct so how do you expect them to get facts about a massive, tragic, natural disaster right when there are people telling them everything they need to know?

I give it until firday before the media start looking for someone to blame. My money is on NZ Mayor Bob Parker being made the scapegoat!!!

Was getting a p*ssed off at some of the media last night. Hosking was one of the worst, continued asking questions like, "should Chch be rebuilt" and random other crap when it was obvious all anyone was worried about at the time was getting people out of buildings.

The bit that really pissed me off was when they showed some guy who they said had just come out of a collapsed building, and that he was quite clearly in shock. So, what did the TV people do, they shoved a microphone under his nose and started asking him dumb questions.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Missing Christchurch (despite the quake) having just moved up to Wellington yesterday.  I can't even make the toilet here work - it just won't flush and I'm about to get violent.  Could be a long year.

Edit: Liking it a lot more already and got the loo working - strange contraption it is.

I've been following several different channels since yesterday afternoon, the only 2 stations following this now are TV One and Sky News (which is fed from Australia). After last years Selwyn quake both free to air stations pumped the bullsh*t about how they were first on the scene and I 'just can't wait' for this to start again. Also, please don't forget the smaller communities who have been affected by both last years and this years quakes. This is something else the media seem to be oblivious to.

Dickheads calling and texting radio sport calling the Crusaders 'arrogant' and 'spoilt' and 'soft' for cancelling their game against the Hurricanes on Saturday.

There was no right or wrong decision here, the only right decision was to do whatever the players/management staff decided collectively.

I'm sure it's just a vocal tiny minority, but it pisses me off.

I'll be you any money that there is a significant intersection between this set and the 'All Whites never won a game' set.

My whine for the morning?  People cancelling early morning meetings and not f**king telling me.

I thought about posting something like that, but didn't want to turn it into a bashing rugbyheads post, as i'm sure that the VAST majority (even of the vigourously anti-all whites idiots) of them completely support the teams decision.

People scheduling you in for a meeting but not actually telling you (except for 5 mins before/after the start).  Going in without much preparation = win! (not).

TV One just went to "normal" programming so if we want tv updates..we'll be looking to Sky Australia only!

To be honest, the updates were just the same interviews and pictures shown over and over again. Ive seen John Keys speech about a million times.

Hope they do jump in if anything new comes to light though.

Theyre also being threatened with arrest if they continue to try get into the CBD (makes you think a lot of them are pushing their luck - to the detriment of the people trying to help). So they're not likely to be able to bring any new pictures.

Yeah but come on, TV One could have spread around the city showing footage of places where we know people are without electricity and running water. Even if they did it by chopper. I have a Nana, Uncle and Aunty with husband who are all on the same property, we know they are ok as we have been able to get hold of them once or twice a day since tuesday but we can't get to them because of liquifaction and not wanting to get in the way of emergency services around the city. They might as well be on another planet. This is what the news is about, not just scenes of devistation which they seem fixated on.

No. Mainly because of the unrest in the Middle East/north Africa; e.g. Libya produces 10% of the worlds oil & supplies 80% of Europe's oil.

If my university's  basketball team hits 100 points in a game everyone there gets free ice cream. Tonight was the last home game of the season and the team (who needed a win tonight and one on Saturday to win the conference) turned it on big time. From early on we looked set to hit the ton, but in the second half things trailed off and with 30 seconds left (and about 10 minutes of ice cream related chants behind us) we had 98 points and possession of the ball...only for our coach to tell the team to wind the clock down and not take a shot.

Huge anti-climax.  Critical_Lemon2011-03-03 21:05:21

Coach took a bribe

What team is this? Are you playing NCAA basketball in US? What div and college?

Apparently the coach didn't want to "rack up points on them" or something riddiculous. The more points we score the more likely we are to get a better seed for the post-season, so I don't get it.

It's BYU-Hawaii, we play in Pacific-West Conference in Div II.
