Busy day at work planned...two staff call in sick...I'm left answering phones and emails (25 calls and 70 emails so far).

I've decided to be a professional footballer.

Maybe a self imposed YF Forum ban for you today...

When you have one team in your grade, who asked to be put up a grade and were refused by Capital Football.

Their average score line is 6 - 1 (actually 6.3 - 0.6)

Highest winning margin, 14 - 2

Out of 9 games, they have scored five or more goals six times.

Not their fault, completely in the wrong grade.

For the third season running, the Nix first game of the season is at home on the same day as Bathurst. Two in a row was bad enough. Three is just taking the p*ss. Non petrolheads won't give a sh*t but for me, it's really annoying

I guess they should put out a referendum for everyone to mark what days do and don't suit the entire A league fanbase. Personally I am happy with the 11th, I have a tiddlywinks convention on the 10th.

The (what seems like) endless wait to hear back after job interviews. I do understand they don't tend to take 2+ weeks to get back to you if they want you but there's still part of you that can't let go of that slight glimmer of hope until you actually are formally rejected.

Yup, it's all a bit rubbish and generally comes down to about 10 people having to approve one single hire. In my current job, I only waited 24 hours to hear which was great but have waited more than 2 weeks in the past to both be accepted and rejected. work only exists because we deem that stuff is necessary. Let's all get naked and let go of the material world people!!

What is also absolute bullshark about interviews is when you are unsuccessful but they don't tell you if you did anything wrong during the interview or how you could improve your interview technique. How am i meant to know whether my interview manner is right or not if i receive zero feedback on how i went in the eyes of the employer?

Three for me, and two for them.

Yeah, for my previous jobs I've heard within a couple of days. One actually called me while I was driving home from the interview. When the wait has been this long though it's not usually been good news.

For context, I had an interview on Tuesday 16th and they said it I probably won't hear anything "before Friday week" due to being one of the first interviewed and it being difficult to find times that suit the three managers to do the interviews etc. Now Friday week has passed I'm just wondering whether there is any point getting in touch with them to ask for an update, or just let it go.

You can ask for feedback but often the answer will be something ambiguous like "other people were a better fit for the team."

Sometimes they won't contact the unsuccessful applicants until the first choice has signed a contract, in case it falls through and they want to offer the next best candidate the job. If the first choice takes ages to get back to them for whatever reason the other people who were interviewed might be waiting ages to find out they didn't get it.

I think you may as well chase it up - at least it shows you are "proactive" if they are still trying to decide!

Yeah I assume it's currently under offer and they are waiting for it to be signed and sealed before getting back to others.

Agreed. I always watch Bathurst at home, been long standing, now with my Father-in-law joining me. Is other obvious ones as well, not sure about this season, but playing in Melbourne on GP weekend (Usually same time as practice 2), and 2 seasons running playing at the same time as the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide.

I understand that they don't really take into account these things, but it can't be a coincidence when it happens every year, it almost seems as deliberate as the Melbourne Victory game the night before the Melbourne Cup.

There is no "seems" about it, I reckon it is a deliberate ploy as those in the FFA who dont want us, seem to under value us. Surely last seasons effort should have put that to rest.....well except the last three months. But we were winning in australia and doing very well. They need to take us seriously and not see us as a hindrance. We are paying our way.

Pretty sure you can also ask for your interview notes. Def possible overseas. Know a story of a guy who would write identifiers about the candidates so he would know who they were talking about in deliberations. He got caught out when they had to Hand over interview notes to an unsuccessful candidate on which he had written "ginger big tips"

I know what you mean but isn't it disgraceful that good honest hard workers (not referring to myself) get over looked when the only thing the other person has done better is rub the right people the right way? I'm fairly confident it'll catch up on this person eventually and everyone involved will find out the hard way.

I believe in Karma and it is going to come home to roost this year, however the price to pay will do no favours for anyone. Probably find those whose co tracts should be terminated, will end up on some made up bullshark secondment thing. Just moving the deadwood sideways instead of addressing that they are the problem.

Heard back that I was the preferred candidate but they won't be able to get anywhere near the salary I'm on now as they were thinking of it as more of an entry level role. That's pretty upsetting given all the effort (there were also online written and numerical tests to do before getting to the interview stage). There was never any indication it was entry level and everything sounded ideal for me. I was even quietly confident after the interview as I felt it was one of the better ones I've done. Don't know why they let it get that far if I was above what they were looking for. Being public sector they would have known roughly what I was on at this level anyway. I suspect they didn't know themselves until they went to get salary approval from higher up prior to making an offer, though ideally this would be sorted out at the advertising stage to avoid going this far with someone they can't consider.

Also waiting to hear back from another interview I had. Guy called about 10 this morning, of course during the 1 hour of the day I was in a meeting and couldn't answer. Called back as soon as I could and he didn't answer so had to leave a message and have not heard back again. Obviously it's not good news if he's not in any hurry to call me again and I know my referees have not been contacted, but still very frustrating.

If someone could please explain to me what positive attributes they actually bring to the Salad Sandwich Party I would be greatly appreciative!

Folks, it seems I may have been misinterpreted here. My gripe is not at the humble tomato itself and the awesome lypocene that it delivers to people globally on a daily basis, but when it is added to the delicate balance of a sandwich, where bread and pure moisture clash in what you may call a war of nutrition.

Lycopene.

lypocene is a colourful craft dough with clay-like properties that is commonly consumed by young children in the mistaken belief that its antioxidant properties can protect against cancers and heart disease.
