Folks, it seems I may have been misinterpreted here. My gripe is not at the humble tomato itself and the awesome lypocene that it delivers to people globally on a daily basis, but when it is added to the delicate balance of a sandwich, where bread and pure moisture clash in what you may call a war of nutrition.

Lycopene.

lypocene is a colourful craft dough with clay-like properties that is commonly consumed by young children in the mistaken belief that its antioxidant properties can protect against cancers and heart disease.

What did c-diddy post ct? I'm trying out this great new "ignore" function that only "elite" posters have.

Oh I dont see what you did there!

Are there phrases that jar with you? Then don't use them! Successful people don't talk the talk, so they can walk the walk.

That whole "article"pisses me off as a vacuous piece of specious, self-serving platitudes railing against vacuous, specious self-serving platitudes.

Total arsewipe.

Pebbles Hooper.  In terms of natural selection I hope she doesn't have kids - would hate to see more people in society with her values and views.

On that note...apologies that go along the lines of "I apologise for my wording" rather than actually apologising.

"I apologise if I caused anyone offence"

These sorts of statements are pretty meaningless and don't actually amount to an apology.

There is an increasing class system in New Zealand that didn't exist until the mid 90's and is now taking off and Pebbles is an example of 2nd generation "Upper Class". It will only get worse.

Don't agree with that. There was a class system long before the 90's.

OK, didn't exist is probably a bit strong but certainly if you had money and power you didn't really shout about it. We were more of an egalitarian society than we are now. There was a humbleness in being successful (apart from Bob Jones).

US fans tweeting/posting elsewhere comparisons to WWII events whenever playing Germany or Japan in sports. Ugh.

It's an odd thing isn't it?

You go to the US and it's full of nice friendly people who are welcoming and genuinely nice, but offer them a sporting event outside their borders and some of them become the biggest cocks imagineable.

I think the almost religious fervour for the self-proclaimed 'greatest country on earth' and the attitude that they are the saviours of the world has started to do them a great disservice.

England do the same thing with Germany too. Always thought it's pretty tasteless to bring up war in that sort of context

Johnsonville trains CANCELLED on the best day weather wise in a while due to "Adverse Weather Conditions"

Yeah was running a few minutes late so basically ran down to the station only to be met by that message. Could have got the bus at the end of my street if I'd known.

Permalink Permalink

Worked out ok in the end though. Was hardly any traffic (due to school holidays maybe?) and actually got to work about 10 minutes earlier than usual which is strange for getting the bus. I live about 12-15 minutes walk from the station but it's still usually quicker to walk down and get the train than to get the bus from the end of my street.

Another interview rant. Got one tomorrow at 9.15am and part of it is supposed to be completing an exercise for presentation which they would send "24-48 hours" before and it has still not arrived. Was hoping they might go 48 business hours before and send it on Friday so I'd have some time in the weekend but sadly no. Assuming it comes sometime today I'm not going to be able to work on it until about 7pm tonight when I get home. I get that they want to see how well a person can work with a tight deadline, but the interview is stressful enough so it does seem a bit tough considering an applicant likely has a current job so is not able to do anything on it during the day before.

Had another one with a similar exercise last Friday and though they said the same 24-48 hours they actually sent it on Tuesday so I had a reasonable amount of time to work on it and practice it enough to not have to read too much of it out.

As a rule these days I don't state my ethnicity on survey forms.  Fudgeers like Twyford are a good reason why.

PS Little you can fudge yourself too.

He is standing my his comments too, saying that the gaps in the data are proof that a proper debate is needed. Insists his comments weren't racist or racially insensitive. Tell that to the thousands of New Zealanders of Asian heritage who have been here for generations. It's a little like saying "those maoris sure do commit a lot of crimes" and insisting that that could never be taken as racist. Even if you give the person the benefit of the doubt in being well-intentioned, it's still has racist implications.
