Not sure that "rule" is quite the right word but this is an awesome sendoff by our soldiers for their fallen comrades. Regardless of your thoughts on the war itself, you'd have to have a heart of stone (or be a dickbag youtube commenter) to not be moved by this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xI6TRTBZUMM

Saw on the news tonight about the drinking age debate - there were clips of Green MPs in parliament and some "young adults" in a pub.

Rather amusing to see real life imitating The Young Ones: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yo9_aBj1Z84 (@2:50)

Lydia Ko . The first kiwi and youngest ever to win on the LPGA Tour. Her swing was analysed on the Golf Channel and described as near perfect.  Have a feeling this young lady is headed to superstardom !!

Just browsed through the "Things that piss me off" thread.  It's brilliant.

First learning that Stephen Merchant is bringing his "Hello Ladies" stand up show to Wellington. Securing tickets in the pre sale and then having them turn up yesterday. Really looking forward to this. Very underatted comedian who has mainly had to live in Ricky Gervais shadow.

From one of the clasic threads:

Is burning an effigy of Steve Irwin's monkey-faced daughter suitable for the Queensland game?

I'm sorry, but I have to say that this is a disgusting and repulsive suggestion, and unworthy of a public forum.
To even think about making an effigy of this unique child, young Bindi Irwin, dressing her in a smart little safari suit, outback booties and one of those cute wee Akubra hats with the corks dangling down around her weirdly self-assured simian face, also maybe a stuffed toy wombat/platypus/stingray clutched in her little chimp paw or a real live taipan draped around her neck and then mounting her up on a giant stuffed emu like one from a museum or something, with, like, a saddle and little reins, and then dousing the whole thing in petrol and putting a match to it and dancing round and round, faster and faster, all howling some sort of bestial ritualistic chant while ACDC plays mega-loud in the background...well, I just think that would be sick.

Getting home from work & being able to mow the lawns, then have a couple of beers sitting outside & it's still not dark yet, must mean summer is on its way!!!!!!

I mowed the lawns last weekend for the first time since the start of Junior footy.  Fortunately not as scary as it should have been because when I say "lawns" there really wasn't much in the way of actual grass.
Still, pretty lush growth - could well have had a pride of Essex lions living in it for all I know.
Only down side of mowing the lawns is that I can now get to the rest of garden which needs a damn good weeding.

I had a good day in the garden on saturday. I just need to wait 7-14 days to see the true benefits of my labour!

Yes, I am seriously contemplating that as the most effective and efficient option.
Look! 14 days - I walk away.

The stern supervsion of our national security by the GCSB and the Police.... good to know we are in such professional hands....  OH WAIT!!  :)

Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.
