Micky Malivuk is a  better striker than anyone else in Cap Prem and a lot of Central league strikers.

That is very subjective. There are 9 players between Joe and Micky on the Cap Prem scoring charts. While a number of those may just be poachers there are some very good strikers in there ie Peter Halstead

Today: 2nd leg of the promotion play-off Stop Out 5 Wanganui 0.

Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

Saw today's game.  Appreciate that the game was as good as over before the first whistle but could not believe how slow paced it was compared to Central League.

Well done to Stop Out and congratulations.  But IMHO based on purely today (and my viewing has been limited - as a neutral, I have no Wellington club affiliation after moving here 6 years ago, to Central League) Stop Out are going to have to recruit heavily and wisely just to be competitive.

Intensity was well down today. No surprise there at all.

Totally agree. I saw the first leg and no different. Stop Out will go straight down on what I have seen.

RE: SO promotion

It seems there are a few bitter, jealous people on this forum who have chosen to react negatively to SO's promotion to the Central League

'SO won't do this, SO won't do that, SO will struggle'

You can only beat whats in front of you.

At the end of the day SO are now in the Central League.

A league table at the end of the season doesn't lie. If you're the best team you win

All the best to the other members of clubs competing in Cap Prem next season

Congratulations SO your promotion was well deserved. 2015 is a new season and players will come and go.

I watched a number of Central league games this year and I would place the current SO team ahead of only Tawa and Upper Hutt.

But let's not get carried away it is only local football and Miramar will rule whilst they control Team Wellington and can assert their influence to have Team Wellington players in their club.  Miramar no doubt will deny this but good on them, that's just the way it is.

I watched Miramar play Upper Hutt at DF and there were maybe only 50 spectators. The League gets very little Dom Post coverage so there is only bragging rights for a few. Hardly a Big Deal.

shows the gulf between central and capital. In reply to previous, Gulley will be fine in central league, has played at a higher level and thinks fast.

I've seen him lose battles with average prem players. Flemming, Halikias etc will run rings around him.

This a very similar SO squad that took the field when beating Olympics 1st team and Wests then not quite as good 1st team in the cup a few seasons ago. Its also played Upper Hutt pre-season with 90% of the squads(including Corrales) playing and beat them by plenty. Its also the squad that missed promotion by a goal last season against PNM who have showed that they are well worth being in the central league. This suggests to me that sure SO will need to build some more squad depth, but when they do that, they too will easily add good value to the league.

Top Left are you a keeper? Might explain how far from the mark you are with Gulley. Why don't you ask the likes of Halikias about how well they think Gulley will go in CL again. Why don't you ask him if he's looking forward to playing against Steve in midfield? Pretty sure I know what he and most players with decent outfield knowledge would say.

Not a keeper. Just my opinion as someone who has played against him and watched him play quite a few times. No doubt he has good skills and can have good moments but I don't think that will be enough for CL. If SO got back that lad who went to Olympic they would be a lot better off.

I see your judgement on Stop Out comes from watching a lot of games.....that lad that went to Olympic came back in June.

Pretty harsh...they won 9-0. They would probably be cruising it

Point of order: Halikias runs rings THROUGH people, not around them.

Watched him quite a few times??? His game is hardly based around having good skills.... None of your comments really add up. he is a hard working, strong, high intensity ball winning style midfielder who has fairly accurate distribution and is good on set piece. He always adds goals and assists from midfield in every season that he has played including Central League and NZFC.  I dont think you would find that many people with your opinion of him struggling in Central League next season at all. Definitely not the one you mentioned(Halikias), that is for sure.

Very Well done Stop Out. Won the League  and comfortably won the play off. A team can do no more than that and your spot in the Top League is deserved.

It is however, a big step up to compete in the Central League. I am not saying that they can not do it with the players they have, but being a follower of Upper Hutt, I know it is a difficult task to survive, let alone compete, in the Central League, with teams who do spend large amounts on their squad every year.

Ahhhh I see..... Some more good work from you Top Left.... Do you just happen to be one of those average Cap Prem players that dominated him this season? Lucky SO did get that lad who went ot Olympic back then aye

To be honest,  it will be difficult, club will loose a number of players through retirements  and there are a few young players who gained CL experience this year, but my gut feeling is that it will be a consolidation year next year. It really depends on who the club can attract.

One of the biggest handicaps is having a reserve team in Cap 2 which is obviously a hurdle SO will have to overcome.

Overrated by you, his pal. In all honesty I'm just stirring now. He's not that bad but he's not as good as he used to be. He gets wound up as easily as you too. Good luck in CL next season anyway

How long did SO last in CL last time. Although they appear a stronger club now than then.

Ironic coming from you Horsehead!

I don't agree with your opinion of the player Paolo, I don't think he's the player you described but I was happy to leave it as a difference of opinion. I gathered that you are pals with him or a fan so I decided to wind you up a bit. I apologise for that. I hope you can accept that I disagree and I'll leave you and the yellow/red pom poms to it.

Feverish,

You wouldnt be very pleased with your club's decison then, given your comments on the Central League 2013 thread back in August last year

Quote - Feverish 26th August 2013 regarding Petone's treatment of Fozz

Not a great way to go about it as far as the incumbent is concerned. 'We will re-hire you if nothing better comes along'
