Feverish,

You wouldnt be very pleased with your club's decison then, given your comments on the Central League 2013 thread back in August last year

Quote - Feverish 26th August 2013 regarding Petone's treatment of Fozz

Not a great way to go about it as far as the incumbent is concerned. 'We will re-hire you if nothing better comes along'

ha ok well I can tell you Port won't be coaching at Wharf next year. Happy?

Good luck to him. Good coach and good lad.

you always want to advertise as you want the best for your club and it's members.

it's how and when this happens is the sticky point that can catch people out.

the worse thing a club can do is not advertise and just stick with what they have as this can cause complacency in a good coach and allow poor coach's and there supporters the usual ego trip that they are good at coaching.

good sportsmanship and fair playing field is all we ask for

but all we get is talk and goal posts moving

I totally disagree with this. An on to it committee will have an idea of who is out there and will really only advertise when they've decided to make a change.

Advertising every year for no real reason creates instability. If you have a coach who is doing a good job and you're happy with, support them.

I had a bit to do with Port at Wharf and echo Feverish's sentiments: good coach and good bloke.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Feverish, would it be accurate to say that the club doesnt think he has done the greatest job but will reappoint him if no better candidate applies?

Or is it more of a case of you dont know who may apply if you dont open it up?

if the club thought the coach had done a good job they would be trying to get him to continue.

Is it a case of the coach not wanting to continue?

Doesn't Ian Porteous live in Kapiti? Saw that KCU advertising for a head coach. Just saying..

Permalink Permalink

His coaching style can't be that great, had many disruptions with players this year I heard and Wharf primarily play straight up the guts, not much coaching to do that.

Permalink Permalink

Saw on Facebook that Shaun Easthope announced as new Wharf coach..

Permalink Permalink

Porteous to KCU I believe is the story.

Various cups of tea have suggested Shane Rufer or Besim to Olympic. Mick Waitt to Lower Hutt or Island Bay with a chubby new assistant. Or Besim to Lower Hutt.

Pedro has re-signed with Upper Hutt.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

They (WeeNix) could be just looking for volunteers to run the game day for their ASB team when playing at Newtown Park

I have a vague recollection that when WelNix took over someone talked about the idea of the Phoenix becoming a club everyone could play for from kids to social teams.

Guess this might be a sign that i didn't just make it up.

Leo, but not Super Leo.

Presume Easthope came a lot cheaper than Port so they've got some spare cash. Or they've talked the Juniors into hiring him as a youth coach (the Lower Hutt model).

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Nothing official from Wgtn UTd yet on their handover to the Nix. AGM discussion will take place in Jan. Seems like a 99% done deal.

Take over their first team and play the academy players during the winter.
