Short answer was it was dismissed. As I understand from the rumour mill the ex Olympic player did everything right in comet to register for the new season, new club and comet allowed him to register for new club without any flags, Petone never knew of any flags also and he was able to be put on the team sheet etc so were completely oblivious to any concerns from ex club. Olympic have flagged over 100+ Ex players (who are also all playing at different clubs) but cannot give any specific reasons for flagging each player, just bulk flagging them all, so lack of admin on their side more than anything  (ie this player has stolen a sock and owes us $9). The system and entire process is a dog - in this situation Olympic and those other teams that submitted the complaints should really concentrate their efforts on the football field.

That’s what I’ve heard anyway..

The player or club, can't have done everything right otherwise he would have found his red flagged registration? Changing details to create a second registration is either someone making a strange mistake in personal details, ie incorrect date of birth. Or a deliberate way around the red flag.

Surely if you are a club official and have someone new playing in your first team, you can see their Comet details, they show the player has no history and has never ever played before surely you question that?

I don't know the full details but suspect Petone have fudged up here.

Waiting patiently, til season end to see where Petone finish in relationship to Olympic or Cap Football official statement, which will come first

The player changed his birthday by one day to avoid the red flag. Petone wouldn't have even been able to pick up on this unless they too happened to know his correct birthdate. It's a huge flaw in Comet.

But as above, I too heard that Olympic had red flagged a massive bunch of players.

But if subs were paid on people's behalf or gear given, it's the clubs right to red flag. It's the only protection the clubs are given in regards to player movement.

Comet is another shambolic change by NZF and CF trying to minimise their work in registrations and in return subs go up? CF taking it a step forward by not offering player development and that falls on clubs too.

Perhaps one day they will show value for the money they get.

Not quite - it's possible for clubs to search every player in COMET by name so if you had a player who was playing Cap Prem and there is no previous club record wouldn't you as the club be a bit suspicious?

It's no more flawed than Goalnet in this regard, although you couldn't do a global search in goalnet so you might argue COMET is better in that regard.

don't think think there is any problem with flagging players genuinely but you can't just flag everyone that leaves your club - you need to have some sort of adminstration and agreement of what players owe etc - one would suggest at capital prem/central league levels the players are playing for clubs under the assumption they owe nothing (ie. subs are payed and socks are provided)

Re waiting for a "capital football statement" it won't be coming, never seen a statement before... the decision has been made and those teams that complained now have the right to appeal that decision...

I guess the point of interest here, is regardless of intent or error.  The fact is Petone played the player under a secondary registration. The regulations state that the punishment is to lose the points for the games played. If the rumours are true and the club has been fined, this attributes a level of guilt, but a change in the punishment which can't be right, can it?

perhaps the realism of the situation is that we aren't playing in the EPL, so if a kid had fat fingers when he registered in comet via his cellphone, and there is currently no global list of red flagged players, then perhaps motive is a defining factor.

These are my thoughts too. Lack of detail on Petone's Admin behalf. 100% their fault.

There is a global list of players in COMET including red flagged players.

Ok true story. Lots of Olympic in there!

Classic how they have flagged their sacked coach Jacobs

How do you see this?

So are clubs now expected to have their own internal registration system too? Then cross reference those to the registration on Comet? Do they ask players to provide ID so they can check a birthdate isn’t one day out?

This new comet system creates work for club administrators

All player free agents at season end. And mistaken dual regs is Ok

When it snowed several years back we played the weekend before at Wakefield and the ref called it off after 60min as he was going blue along with several players. Everyone bolted for the warm showers kit and all and Jamie Cross came steaming in and told us to get back out there as you can't abandon a game on turf and he would finish reffing it. Needless to say nobody from either team was interested in going back out there much to his dismay.

Wtf? I mean, player welfare. So if it was throwing lightning he'd be making people get back out there?

Staggering.

That's ridiculous. I played in a game in Wairarapa in 05 when one of our players collapsed and was rushed to hospital. Pretty scary stuff https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=10122698

for the season I reckon

Petone

Upper Hutt

Wainui

Tawa

Wests

Mar

Island Bay

Olympic

KCU

Vic Uni

and it ended up

Petone

Upper Hutt

Wainui

Olympic

Wests

Tawa

Mar

Vic Uni

Island Bay

KCU

Well I got 5 correct, including the top 3

How Petone go against Havelock North who knows, very close I think

If Petone miss out will that mean Vic Uni get relegated as well?

good game in the playoff between Havelock and Petone today. Ended 4-2 to Have lock, but as Havelock were up 4-0 with fifteen to go they'll be a bit disappointed.

Havelock might regret letting those two goals in, playing on the turf will be a different game for them.

that was my feeling, they were the better team but not four goals better and they showed a little bit of inexperience to not shut up shop. Two of the four goals were defensive/keeping blunders so Petone weren't torn apart. Still, Havelock were impressive for such a young side
