I think in this league teams are just very inconsistant. I have a couple of theories as to why this could be (probably wrong but..) a) most teams have a lot of young players which are quite often hard to get the best out of every week and are very up and down and b) reserve teams change a lot throughout the season, sometimes having a couple of first team players then sometimes losing a few reserve team regulars who go up. So in each case strengthens and weakens the reserve sides. I know both of these have had an effect on our side and our up/down season anyway.

Plus c) Playing in the mud massively evens the field which, until the artificials were complete, 80% of the games in this grade were played in.
It's hard to show brilliance in some conditions - and that's when the margins become slimmer and the ability to grind out a result matters.

Man that cracks me up that a player in a team finishing dead last is critiquing the quality of a grade. If the division is average and you're last what does that make you?

Agree about monkeyboy's comments though, a little bit ironic but i guess the pain of relegation will do that. mb's comments are usually better than that.

Hahaha steady on sunshine, I didn't at any point make out anything about the level of talent in our team, just the ability of the rest. TopLeft made a good point and I think he's more than correct if you look at the results across the season the teams that are the most inconsistent are the reserve teams.

Anyway, you play for IB right? Because I understand your angst towards me - you guys definitely were as sh*thouse as we were though. God knows how you managed fourth lol.

But seriously i think that the reserve team inconsistancy thing was as much a good/bad thing for them as it was for their opposition, with the opposition at times being surprised by great and utter sh*te performances by theses guys. In other words no one knows wtf to expect from a lot of the teams in this grade.

Btw the season isnt over and fourth place (and others) isn't sewn up yet!

MonkeyBoy - I've got no angst towards you, just towards your laughable comments.
Surely you can see the stupid side to your analysis of the grade.
One could suggest you dragged teams down to your level, which is why you think everyone is so average. I saw, and was involved in, some high quality games so maybe the average games were just the ones involving Naenae.
Fair play to you for beating us in ONE game. You scrapped better and our heads probably weren't in that game, but we deserve our position on the table via a good defence, some fighting comebacks and good coaching.

You make fair points, but I almost spat out my drink at "good coaching". God knows if you didn't have that bald headed ginger twat as a coach you guys may have been pushing on for promotion this year.

That bald headed ginger twat has done a great coaching job, taking a team previously rooted to the bottom of the table to one that is easily safe and at times lead the league.

Not that it's any of your business but the lads have enjoyed the season so far and I personally think he has made a couple of crucial calls throughout the season that changed specific games for the better.

You judging our coach is like me saying that without you Naenae might have won the league. Rubbish. You've got no idea, so keep it to yourself.

Yeah I can't comment on his coaching and won't but Chuckie has made a bit of a tool of himself on the sidelines (then on here) which is where he has made his mark with monkeyboy among others. I guess monkeyboy is wondering how a guy with a temperament like that can be a good coach. Granted that's not how he said it though

I did say it in a rather angst filled way, but that's what I was getting at lol. Guess what I've been saying is that I don't think the quality in the grade has been there this year compared to previous years. Though I have been playing Cap1 7 years now, winning it once and now feeling the sting of possible relegation makes me a touch defensive of the smaller clubs when it comes to competing with clubs who have the luxury of bringing players in from higher grades to save their seasons a fine example for the last few years has been Lower Hutt. Always struggling come mid-season and end of season seem to go on a massive winning streak. Looking at the losers of Capital 1 for the past 5 years I think at least 4 of the teams have been Clubs 1st teams. Says alot really. I always thought Prems was a reserve grade but looks like Capital 1 is becoming just the same.

So you think your shoddy club should have some divine right to be in the league because you're not a reserve team?

Yours is a club that has, over the past couple of years, floated down to their level as they ran out of money to import English players.

It has nothing to do with the quality of the league flagging, and saying as much is just disrespectful to the players and management of the other teams in the league.

In the end, you guys were just the laughing stock of the league. So take your medicine, and your relegation, and pull your head in.

That is such an injustice to the game Mossman, must be, let me guess, POLITICS.

From what I understand it is to do with the resource consent conditions when the turf is built. Something that the club is working on though so we can only hope to be playing Cap 1 football on it next year if we manage to go up.

It is our understanding that consent conditions for BW is that it is a training facility. As such competition games organised by an RSO aren't able to be held there.

Begs the question. WHY just for training ? Same principle as a game, same equipment but i think Chuckie must be  right. Politics.

I am fairly sure the deal was that they could not expand use of the field beyond what it was previously. It was just a training facility, so needed to remain so.

To be honest I have some sympathy for the neighbours.

Next year Cap2 could have more first teams than Cap1
