should have stayed for the second news, the dude with long hair in the middle for pet1 will definitely be moving a bit slower today after a massive tackle I gave him near our 18yard...

Not sure how Uni will go.  They lost their coach and a few players to Karori and there's always the perennial struggle to keep students from one year to the next (and keep them sober/minimally hungover on gameday).

don't underestimate us, we have a great team and coaching stuff this year. All the work we've done during pre-season is going to pay off, it'd be nice to see the Gossies win their league and the Div.1 University team in the top 3!

pretty average game for us 3-0 vs karori, once again our keeper made some crucial saves at good points in the game and that allowed us to stay on top, big lad up front scored two brings him up to 5 from 2 games. second half was really scrappy and we easily should have had three more poor finishing let us down. another clean sheet though so i'm happy haha

Is it just me, or does this league look like Naenae and BNU are the only two capable of challenging for the title?

big call this early on although certainly backed up by the early results. We at varsity certainly hope to mount a challenge.

scrappy game vs olympic, to be expected really between the two teams, terrible day for defense, blowing a hell of a gale and pitch wasn't the greatest, we went up 1-0 in the first half came back and out and olympic scored a quick equaliser, actually looked like the game was heading for a deadlock but we stepped up the intensity in the final 15minutes and scored 3 good goals, after the second olympic really died off and started to do their normal get pissed with each other, however if they kept their discipline intact they may of done a bit better, they got some good young players. BNU this friday, should be a tough game, looking forward to it

I watched most of your first half v olympic 2nds. You guys looked good, created a stack of chances (despite the horrendous southerly) and pretty much dominated affairs. Neither was your keeper tested much that half. you probably deserved a 2 or 3 goal lead at the break i thought, so sounds like, despite the hiccup, the ultimate result was more than fair enough.

yeah we really seem to be dominating teams in the midfield at the moment, our keep made a great save not too far into the first half when I let my attacker go running past me, should have been an easy tackle, I had an awful game lol but as I said wasn't a great game for defenders but still I gotta be hard on myself haha.

hell of a battle versus brooklyn and goes as far to say as I think we probably are the two main teams to compete for this grade, we went up with literally our first touch of the game scouser spotted the BNU keeper off his line and hit it over him from about 25yards.. the game was intensely physical and we created a few more chances not to finish them and went into half time 1-0

BNU came back out and about 10 minutes into their first half their striker well outdid our left back for pace went round him and came into the eighteen and blasted the ball top left hand corner from a ridiculous angle of probably 4 or 5 degrees from the goal line, brilliant goal. BNU continued to put the pressure on and were rewarded soon after when marius got on the end of a low right hand cross and was hit well in a good tackle by our centre back but wasn't enough to stop it agonisingly rolling into the net. 2-1 BNU

cue the scouser show... we rolled our sleeves up and started putting the pressure on and were soon rewarded with a free kick from about 22 yards which was brilliantly converted into the right hand of the goal with the BNU keeper getting a hand to it... 2-2.... about five minutes later another free kick in pretty much the same spot from a nasty tackle from BNUs captain which also see him receive his second yellow and be sent from the pitch... BNU keeper moves his wall more to the right this time but somehow the scouse manages to fire the ball around this wall as well and keeper didn't really have a chance of saving. 3-2 naenae, final score. have to say big well done to BNU you guys are bloody tough and expect to see you staying with us near the top of the league..

So Naenae are the $$$$$ club of cap 1.... suerly money wasted on pomie imports at that level is a joke how about investing in your youth.

You're having a laugh here MB - that scouser of yours goes down quicker and more often than Ronaldo. Fair play to him though...three great goals....imagine how good he'd be if he stayed on his feet....

Yeah - he was a class player but definitely the softest "big man" I have ever seen.

Fair play to you lads - you deserved the game on the first half alone, but we were pleased with the way we came back into the match.

Looking forward to the rematch later in the year at fortress Wakefield!

pretty fair summary that Monkeyb

but a couple of points of correction for both you and LF1

1.) our skip got his second yellow and the send off for the first of those two free kicks. i think he would admit that one was at least worth a free kick, if not a card. great free kick that one - to the far post region. that made it 2-2

2.) the second free kick, from which your scouser struck the winner, was for a challenge by our other centre back on the scouser himself. that one was less convincing (and id say LF1 has a fair point in relation to his going down pretty quickly on that occasion). good free kick, but im still not sure if it went round or through our wall. either way it seemed to find its way inside the post rather too comfortably. Bad wall!

My bad lol, definitely the most physical game I've played in a while, definitely feeling it today, quiet one tonight need to recover for tomorrow lol. yeah he does go down, but common hes a pom, what do you expect hahahaha.

and to yourmoma we don't "pay" these guys to come play for us, we pay for their flights, which are economy by the way haha and they come over and work in jobs that we find for them and them and their familys happen to be good friends of our coach so I quite resent that snide comment and I think unless you really know what your talking about, keep your mouth shut, regarding naenaes youth development, naenae has never had a strong youth turnout, mainly due to the social demographic of the area, hell I even remember when I was 16-17 we amalgamated teams with Lower Hutt to have a JPL team. Perhaps yes it is something we could work further on in the future but its just not viable at the moment.

edit- lol piney, he didn't go down as fast as poor nick did when you tackled him, the boys a walking target, guaranteed to get hammered at least once every game, he went to the doctor though, no broken bits just ligament damage..

...we don't "pay" these guys to come play for us, we pay for their flights, which are economy by ..... hahaha dahhhhhhh what part don't your understand ..here let me tell you ..how about investing the $2200 return airtickets for each player into your youth.
and why isnt it viable to do that at the moment monkey man please tell ??

I'll assume here when you are talking about youth you are indicating towards the 16-19 year old age bracket, the simple fact is Naenae doesn't have alot of players that fall within this age bracket and as I stated this falls mainly towards the social demographic of the area whereas alot of young people in this area in Naenae are playing other sports, league, union, softball, netball. It's not exactly like we are a club of massive proportions say like Miramar, Wellington United, Western Suburbs etc. Naenae Soccer has never had a large "youth" population and most likely never will. Its not feasible because there's not enough players in this bracket. You tell me EXACTLY what we should do with our money and tell me how to make it feasible and then perhaps we can pursue this matter further. Are you like an ex naenae youth player that's pissed because you didn't get what you wanted at naenae because it definitely seems something like that you got a real bee in your bonnet on this issue lol

maybe some of those kids in nae nae will play for you if you even give them a quarter of what the imports get did you ever think of that... It's ok waste the pokie money on the imports because long term its a waste of money... oh in your theory it's wow oh wow we won capital one ....hahahaha but hang on the imports did it for us... why don't you get them coaching the kids make them earn their money

i say good on Naenae for getting some quality players over here through their connections. If it makes the club competitive, attracts other players to the club though having a better quality side, and lowers the per capita crime rate in the area then its great (though if they are scousers Im not sure the third point is valid). They certainly sound like the goods though.

And Sperring - if he are gonna get sent of - you might as well have gone through the geezer and made sure he wont be winning the league for them. Has Buckle made you soft like he tried to do to me? (by the way i am not serious..)

finding their feet, a bit like olympic and Warfies by the look of the table. Its a tough grade that Cap 1, sprinkled with various 1st teams and hard noses, and difficult for a young team without much experience. Really unlucky against Petone on the weekend though, could easily have won it (hit the bar, great save by the keeper when all tied up 10 minutes to go).

Yeah rightstr summed it up really, finding our feet. Got pretty unlucky against Petone with the captain getting a pair of yellows too. We'll get off the bottom pretty soon.

Fuck this stupid game

Come on guys, were you watching the same game.

Petone could/should have had it sewn up by half time. What about the great saves the WU keeper made? Petone even missed one from six yards out, unbelievable.

I think you should take that patch off your eye!
