Ears do we really want to get into the could-of/should-ofs? lol you're making it sound like it was one sided or something.

Fuck this stupid game

Although United have had a difficult start to the season I expect them to lift off the bottom of table shortly. Now that the university students are back and squad is relatively fit we should start to pick up points with that confidence etc hopefully that will happen this weekend against Karori.  However Naenae and Brooklyn will be extremely difficult to catch in this competitive league.

Looking foward to Saturday versus Naenae, a huge test for us

Wainuiomata won 3-1 against Brooklyn

Wainuiomata aye? A bit of an upset good on them though. Wellington United beat Karori 3-1. 1 nil down at half time was a good comeback good to see the confidence to start coming back too.

very good win for wainui

we beat university 8-2, was tight at the half only 3-2 but we came out strong and killed the game off fast, scoreline probably not a huge representation of the game.

agreed, the gap between the sides didn't seem as big as the score suggested

we went off for a coffee at half time, and thought we'd come back and see how it turned out - but it was all over by then!

dissapointed to see the lack of width from varsity after Naenae went down to 10 men, but then again, you'd need one hell of a lot of width to claw back 6 goals

havent seen a decent side in this grade yet. Have not seen Naenae though. The standard seems pretty poor to be honest. Our seconds were up one nil but were rubbish in the second half against a poor opposition. And Wainui beating BNU?

Game versus Naenae well not a good game to be the Varsity goalkeeper for myself. They are a very good side and should win the league easy, number 10 up front for them was a class act although went down very easy on the foul that lead to Naenaes third goal. They turned up in the 2nd half and we didnt seem to. Couldnt understand a fww of Naenaes decisions at the end of the game, number 8 getting himself sent of for a deliberate handball even though we were on defence, then their number 10 ran into me late when i had claimed the ball easy.

Welly U played very well in the second half and made Warfies look 2nd rate. 3 1 is pretty clear cut and two of our goals were top quality. Warfies need to have a look at themselves and in particular how certain players were quick to finger point at each other when they were put under the hammer.

We (BNU) hit the post 3 times in first ten minutes and thought we were going to win 10-0

We kept getting caught up the pitch on the break - everyone was pushing forward trying to score - leaving massive holes in the midfield and at the back.

Fair play to Wainui - they wanted the win and defended doggedly. They also made the most of the chances they had. Can't really argue with that.

Wharfies dominated the 1st half. But after half time when the wind picked up, Welly U just played a whole lot smarter.

I know what Barrie said to you and it wasn't that. After the game he was very complementary about his own team both to me and them. Maybe I'm being too harsh on Warfies, they weren't 2nd rate as there are some capable players in that team, but we were better. Plus when the chips were down the Warfies team spirit flagged,  I could clearly hear the negative comments from where I stood.

You obviously dont know what he said- and it's irrelevant. All I said is that you were a poor team- along with us and the majority of the grade from what I've seen. If you feel differently then bad luck - but I have seen teams in lower grades play better than Cap1. Thing is, loads of players arent fussed about playing in second teams. They drop from firsts to social (at best).

can't disagree with that. Our Dreamers drop down cos they don't like having to train regularly outside. Your Dreamers and the LH Ancients are probably the same. And all 3 would probably beat yours and our 2nds. Bit of a pity cos our 2nd team could do with a bit of experience. Perhaps its time to resurrect that Premier Federation reserve team concept that worked perfectly well until someone decided we needed a Central League again.

I think Feverish is been far to critical of both the Karori and the Wellington United teams. Both teams needed the points and on a freezing cold windy day at crapy Wakefield some good football was played. Both teams were probably missing a few players and I thought the last 20-30 minutes the standard certainly picked up with some great goals. And how are you a poor team when you are playing in capital 1 out of 14 capitals? Ridiculous statement. Yeah our 2nd team could probably do with some more experience players to help out the younger one's but with games and time you will notice a steady improvement.

Anybody got any predictions about the weekends upcoming games?

There seems to be very little talk about North Wellington and University, but looking at the results it seems both team are struggling.

there are div 7 and div 3 wgtn Utd game on at newtown. I think because the greeks are at home they don't have the authority to use Newtown on a saturday.
