We lost 4-1 to Naenae last Wednesday night.
Quite a good result given that the week before we lost 10 or 11-2. Bet they didn't expect that.
Before that game we drew 3-3 with Petone.. Chuggers? In a very hard fought game. Could have even won that game if a shot in the last few minutes didn't hit the post.

Does anyone know which groups play each other in the final games, i.e. Gold v Gold or A v A?

If it is B v B, it looks like we will be playing either Naenae or Petone Chuggers, or if it is Black v Black we could be playing Uni Beavers.

well done Petone for Sure. Sure we were gutted when the lights went out, but with 5 mins or possibly less to play, we were never going to sneak the 3 goals we needed (one maybe, 2 at a stretch) to make the final so common sense prevailed. it was a relatively even gamewe thought we were on top until a freakish first goal; a donkey kick into an empty net, saw off our initial impetus and spurred Petone onwards. The 2nd and 3rd goals were well taken counter attacks. We had a gilt edged chance to make it 1-1when a free kick eluded the keeper but our striker managed to knock it over the post from 5 yards out.

as always its goals which change the momentum of a match and the fact that you dispatched 3 to our one, despite the fact that we had enough as many chance as you (except from corners where you dominated) was the tale of the tape.
best of luck in the final, we'll enjoy our play off for 5/6th

We beat Wellington United Terrace 8-0 yesterday in what was a very "Niggly" game.. Best way to put it. Arguing, pushing, yelling, tantrums and bad reffing calls.
Disgrace of a game. Heard rumors that we may have another game next week, which would be good. It would be a shame to end the season with a game like yesterday.

Terrace are a disgrace, as much as i'd like to close ranks as a fellow Utd team the honest truth is that they deserve the reputation they have. at least you punished them- better teams have succumbed to the niggle.

just get a good ref and you'll be sweet.

We played them with a neutral ref both times and had no issues.
Bet them 7-1 on agg.

Am a bit annoyed we are not playing Nth Wgtn this weekend- their win means we finish with a game against Chuggers,

more or less just for the novelty of playing a new team.

we'll be struggling for a ref, it's their home game so I guess we'll have to put up with what we get.

They do play a lot of long ball. But cannot finish.
They are offside a lot bit cannot make anything from it.

If you can ask even a mate to help reffing it would help a lot.
One guy is a qualified ref (Apparently, and i'm not sure if he is qualified in NZ) He is the shortest guy in the team. If anyone else other than him offers I suggest you decline. Or else you will get a horribly biased ref like we did.

One incident we had was..
In the first half a Terrace player pushed one of our guys off the ball with both hands. The player was cautioned for it supposedly.
In the second half (With a new ref) the same player dropped his shoulder and pushed the player off the ball again.
We complained to the ref and he told us that it doesn't matter if that happened in the first half too because he did not ref that half.

Then there were other incidents after that. And a 5-10 minute argument with a ref over a blatantly wrong offside call. And a Tantrum by one of our player after being sent off.

Glad that we dont have to end the season on a game like that.Stefan2011-08-31 21:56:13

Random 11am Sunday game to end the season. We're running a sweepstake on how many will turn up pissed / too hungover to head the ball.
My money's on 5 or 6.

We missed you todqay bro, started with 8 against their 9, put 3 on them early. although it finished
3 - 3.

The reffing wasn't bad at all, in fact very much in our favour for 75% of the game. That was until they scored with 30 to go, all of a sudden the calls changed and we were getting elbowed and shoved and nothing was being called. Two goals scored from clear (blatant) offsides. But a stunning day to play and in the end the result summed up our season.

We drew 2-2 with united legends today. Not a very special game but a good one to end the season on.
