3 of our missing players are uni boys. we just have to play without them which is a pity as they make up 1/2 of our midfield.

From PC Mana: We too have lost Uni players (five in total) over this period but that doesnt mean we go out and find high division players to make up the team. Most unfair if thats what happened. Sealads are a very sporting team and we appreciate that.

In regards to the Slayers game, good on the Slayers they always fight hard. As Wozza said we played one player from our Div 13 team to enable a sub (he turned up to ref). Cheers to Slayers for accepting that.

I was disappointed with my own players at the end of the game as I had no help putting up the nets before the game and no help getting them down at the end (two Slayers helped me, cheers mates). Very few players have paid their fees. I am also lots of kit ( 6 pairs of shorts, five pairs of socks and three shirts) and one ball missing so hence my swearing and poor spirits. Nothing to do with Slayers or ref.

It would be more than fair to say that the SeaLads defence would have struggled had their keeper been sent off.

Sorry Jim I wasnt implying you were swearing because of the ref or the game. Just unusual to hear you swear at all! Anyway we will sort the other issues this week it is unfair that you do the lions share of the work, lately I have been getting to the games later so have not been there for putting the nets. More for the reason that it is dispiriting that you and I are always the first there and quite often we are still waiting for the majority our team to turn up 15 or even 5 minutes before kick off.

Yeah just getting to be a bit fed up by lack of committment and taking things for granted!

Next week we are at the Velodrome against Unicycles. I have never played there; I thought it was a Marist masters home ground?! Uni teams are usually Nairnville, Anderso, Raroa or Salamanca

So that makes bringing in central league players from other clubs OK?

How is it fair that a team who cannot field a full team every week (which you have openly stated) end up being top of the table...continually using ring-ins to win games doesnt show that you are the best team...

We have one or two ring-ins every couple of weeks, the 4 we had yesterday is the most we've had for a game. Since when was 4 a majority, let alone constituting full? Well we can't prove we're the best team but would you rather we had one or two ring-ins occaisionaly or that you played against 9 or 10 players on those days and have an unfair game? I'm not trying to defend the Central League thing anymore, It's a lose-lose situation no matter who I side with.

Yeah regular ring in's is not a flash look. I agree with Shrek in that Karori have been the best team we have played and have been very surprised they are not well ahead at the top of the table.
Obviously ring ins are affecting results which is where the real problems lie. Mana played a ring in this week but he in no way affected the outcome of the came hense no issue

Perhaps you need to evaluate whether you actually have a full team of players or maybe take up 7 a side

If you only have a base of 7 players and feel the need to CHEAT by selecting players from top divisions rather than the divisions closer to our grade then you shouldn't have a team at all. I suggest that the seven players be spread amongst the other of your teams so that each team has an extra player rather than needing to resort to cheating to win.

I dont see the point of you cheating to finish top of the division over a team that is simply far better than you guys cause all you will do is go up a division and have to cheat even more.

Or is that what they teach you Uni folk?

Actually, I think it would be unfair to say, he played about as well as our normal centre-back does.

I'm fairly certain your normal centre back is Rothman, don't get me wrong, he's bloody good, but Sams central league and for a good reason. Credit to Sam, he did try and keep out of the game but still whenever he did get involved he was outrageously good at turning defense into attack alot of times and completely cancelling out our strikers when he was there, no team in this grade has ever done that that I can remember. we've got the least goals let in but in no way have we been able to cancel strikers out, we're just not that good.

I also suppose no-one has complained about your ring-in striker(blonde fella), he was insanely good. well up there with the Destroyers guy who is by far the best we've come up against

If you cannot field 11 players from your own team you cannot field a FULL team...there was no mention of majority...i assumed that someone who was paying for an education as a student would know that...

Every team has to bring in a friend or family member to make the numbers every now and again, but trying to justify regularly playing ring-ins, especialy semi-proffesional ones, will just make you look like an idiot...

Additionally I have known Sam Greene for a long time, he is a bloody good footballer, regularly making age grade rep sides, even toning down a a highly promising cricketing career (where he also regularly made age grade sides) to concentrate on his football

PS Thanks for the support PC Mana and Slayers

Sorry Sealords, I misread your post.

We have a base of about 15 I think, the reason we have had to field ring-ins is because we've had about 5 weeks where we went missing someone because of study break, exams or the break between semesters. The timing has been poor for a team full of uni students. Personally, I wish the other guys would stay in town during the breaks but they haven't.

Rothman sometimes plays centre-back, and usualy for only part of the game; I was more reffering to Jonathan Spicer who plays there game-in game-out.
I don't think Sam was the reason we won and it's unfair to suggest he did.

I don't know why we didn't get players from lower grades, I had nothing to do with organising the ring-ins.

i agree with whats been said, its not fair to bring players of that calibre into this grade, particularly from a different club, I hope that Uni are docked points and that Sam green is punished appropriately by wellington united, can't imagine they would have been happy if he was injured in the game.

I am not surprised most of your players have not paid their fees as I saw a few who could not even afford to buy some shinguards  Seriously though shinguards are compulsary safety equipment and these guys should not be playing without them.

We rarely use rings in and normally they're crap so get over it. That was the one and only game where we had decent replacements.

And what about your keeper not getting sent off, what's with that?

Get over the fact you cheated by playing ineligible players?

I was not even involved int he game and think you guys suck  for doing that.

Don't do it often? I bet you guys do most games.

As for trying to turn the table for asking why their keeper was sent off is just a piss poor way of trying to justify what you guys do.

Part of me hopes you guys finish top so we dont have to play against cheats next year, but part of me does not want to see people who cheat win.

Oh dear, you really shouldn't throw around accusations like that without knowing what your talking about.

So why exactly wasn't the keeper sent off?

How do you justify this accusation?

I am sure someone will happily answer that when you answer my question.

Or cant you?

I do however suspect you will keep avoiding the question as there is no reasonable answer.

I can't speak for the team, i did not arrange the squad. However, I personally think using a good player, as a one off, when we were desperate for players is not a big deal (considering we're in div 14a and no-one should be taking it that seriously). Pretty much the same as the ref allowing the keeper to stay on when he obviously should have been sent off.

So what about your accusation? How do you justify that?

I could be wrong for my accusation, however I am not wrong in stating you have played an ineligible player. When we have played you guys half your team dont know each other.

If it was no big deal you would have pulled in eligible players. To say none were available is a crock as several of your club teams were cancelled.

I can confirm that your accusation is wrong.

I doubt that the guy who actually arranged the squad was even aware of the option of bringing in players from another uni team. I know I wouldn't have been. (feel free to start casting more accusations...)

Did you play us early on in the season? We didn't all know each other at the begining! Took me a few weeks to learn the names of the other players.

If the sealads are going to see if they can strip points then I'd want upper hutt city checked out in our league, i hear stories they drop guys down from higher grades as well.

But at the end of the day if they want to play their game like that its their call, I'd rather not "cheat"

3 Players can drop down without any problem Christo.  I suspect the issue here is that the players in question are registered with a different club.

That can only be answered by the guy in our team who rang Sam up to see if he could play.

What team are you from Shrek?

EDIT: I decided to not be so lazy and went back in the thread to figure it out.
So you're a Slayer right? Well the first time we played you I'm fairly sure it was the fourth week of the season and it was in fact a game where we played with no ring-ins, we just hadn't really got to know each other yet (most of us hadn't met anyone else in the team until the first game). When we played you last week we had ONE ring-in and he spent a very long time on the sideline.

Hey Lemon, I remember the question was asked the first time we met as you had gone from fielding 8 players the previous week to having 15/16 when we played (a day when most grades were cancelled).
Last week I believe probably was your 'real' team hense the relatively close 3-1 result. Then you turn around and beat a team that had hammered us 9-0 the previous week with a couple of dubious players........
The numbers speak for themselves really.

But thanks for not feeling the need to field too many ineligible players against us lol

I went through the results and figured out we've fielded ring-ins on about 5 occaisions, and it's been only one on 3 of those occaisions. OS, it was mid-semester break when we fielded 9 players and then when we played you it was the Saturday before lectures started again so everyone turned up.

Just curious, did you use Sams name when he has played for you. Or was a fake one put on the team sheet?

As  Slayer said, we find it odd that a team easily beat us 9-0 you beat them 2-1 when you were not that impressive against us compared to Karori.

He only played for us the once, and I don't know what happened with the match card, I myself didn't even know he was central league until after the game and I'm actually a bit pissed with whoever got him to play for us. The pitch was a bog and it was all down to luck, Sealords out-played us but luck didn't go their way. Long passes constantly went over the byline and half the first-half was hacking the ball around the midfield, Sealords played better than us as the game went on because of their organisation and the fact they had subs. I think we should wait until we play them again in a couple of weeks before we decide which team is better.

Yeah I accepted this explanation when it was first raised.

Funny how it's come up again though.

And we have to confess we did play 1 unregistered player this season a couple of times. And i'll tell you what Shrek's missus was one of the hardest working players on the field that day , and Dave's 14 year old son showed good commitment against players weighing twice as much as him.

If your ring ins are not the best players on the field no one would give a _____ , so maybe you should speak to your team organiser.

and to change the subject

MARTIANS WE'RE COMING TO GET YOU!!!!
We are pretty much back to full strength (minus Horse) and the big fella is starting to look at home in goal, just try putting over a cross in his wing span.

lads you need to stick to players from your own club - or at least if they are not registered with you make sure they are of a similar calibre (even though its still against the rules). You can not get players from other clubs to play for you -especially Central Lge ones!
