Mana 1 Eastbourne 4. Plenty of chances for both sides. Second half quite close. Much better from Mana than in the first round game. Difference is mainly in finishing.......familiar story!

Restored faith in Div 14 ethics; Eastbourne play the right way and are very sporting. Both teams respected each other....that is how it should be so thanks to Eastbourne.

Martians 1 SV 3. Result was fair, scoreline on the other hand was a little tough to stomach (always is for a keeper). match was played in a good manner...as it should be.

sounds like we'll be in for a good match next weekend with the martians up against eastbourne.

9-0 Karori Sealads hammer the Slayers. Looked competitive in the first half ending at 2-0 but the second half was painful to watch.

ug the mighty cougars once again went down in flames. Only had nine people on the field. We at least managed to score one goal though!

A dejected Wellington Universale left the field yesterday sore form a 3-0 thrashing against Upper hutt (who I believe go to 1st on GD) sad sad day.. hope to play them again in the mini comp. Missed our star striker, who unfortunately followed the glory from 14b to premier a few weeks back and has not looked back!

was even more painful to play in, I still cant put full weight on my right foot. Writing was on the wall when we have to ask wives/girlfriends to throw on the kit to make up 11 players hopefully a better turn out next week.

Bad luck to Slayers, Cougars and North Wellington. Good times will come. We admire all the teams who turn out each week often with struggles for players and often losing.

I read some of the posts in some divisions which are full of bravado and boasting....but it is easy to play with teams that have full squads and usually win...it takes a bit more to be loyal and try your best when things are tough. So well done!

PS That doesnt mean that Mana dont want to beat Slayers soundly when we finally play!!!! Lol. And this week we need to beat the Cougars to get off the bottom!!!Orpewise2008-06-16 06:34:48

5-0 to brooklyn, don't know what happened, we played well enough and had some good oppurtunities but couldn't finish off, we were only 1-0 down at the half but some bad marking let a few in. some of the shots though were well place, especially the first which held up a little in the wind, we all thought it was going over but then dropped in over our keepers head.

And we hear Island Bay has dropped out as well, couldn't get enough players, which is sad cos I think we would've had a good battle with them.

And NZGooner did any of the Upper hutt guys look the same from the last time you played them?

Commiserates with the Slayers, we have been in the same position ourselves with girlfriends, mates who havent played in 15 years and bystanders being asked to play for us in the past. Mana thankfully appears to have turned the corner regarding player numbers, wet and cold days I am often unsure as to how many sugar babies have melted during the night and we have played short this year but old-time Slayers will remember 2 years ago when 6 turned up for a game....That was the year we almost got dropped due to cancellations over player numbers!

Mana v Cougars tomorrow at Newlands. Tight game the first time round with narrow 1-0 win to Mana. Will tomorrow be the same?   I predict that it will be!

Hopefully not another defeat for us. Its getting to be embarrasing since most of us have played football for years. But on a good note we will have our full team avaliable for the first time in months which will be nice. Hell we might even have a sub this time!

Is that the French geezer (or should I say Monsieur) who went from Div 14 to Central League and scored the winning goal (according to the Dominion today?)

After reading this, I am waiting a callup from our Central League manager, surely he wants a 100kg+, 40+ years striker?

Is the Cougars game at Newlands Park? It is a bit unclear (some people thought Newlands College). We too may have a full team so a good game may ensue! Have you a decent ref?

decent ref? haha bit of an oxymoron there esp in div 14. I would say we will be having our usual fight before the game about who refs. Its at newlands park not newlands college i am pretty sure

ARTICLE IN TODAYS DOMINION POST

French connection

France had a shocker at euro 2008 bu wellington utd have unearthed a gem in French striker hugo perignotto, who completed one of the great rags to riches tales on Sunday.

Perignotto was plucked from the obscurity of the clubs capital 14b side Universale, where he had impressed with a three goals-per-game average, to play for uniteds fist team against palmerston north marist in the central league. The wiry perignotto came off the bench and weaved his way through Marists defence to grab the winning goal.

Slayers 1 - 3 Unicycles

A keenly contested match and 100% better result than last week.
Good day, good reffing, good opposition, good spirits and good beer at half time. Result was only down side but not too disappointed considering our respective table positions.

Porirua - Mana here we come!!!!!!!!!!!! See you at Waihora in 7 days :)

We lost 3-2 having started with nine players and having 10 in the second half (then down to 9 again when Cole got injured).

Took the lead and fought hard eventually losing to an own goal.

Next week is the game of the season...Porirua Mana versus the Slayers!!!!

Other divisions may have their battles but none like this intense rivalry.

Waihora Park is the place to be.

Looking forward to playing against PC Mana next week which is practically a home game for me.

Cougars 3 - Porirua Mana 2

Congrats to the Cougars, a good game and a fair team to play. But for one deflection it was both teams to win or lose throughout most of the game. Left rueing the 7 players who decided this was the day they should miss due to various commitments. Thanks to cougars for refereeing, very fair in the calls and advantage to both teams played.

Coming weeks game is so big, it should be held at porirua park....lets hope the weather holds out for the game of the year for us.

Cheers matey,

3-0 in the end, all scored in the first half. First goal apparently took only 47seconds to score and SV looked a little rattled after that and never got going on attack (lucky for us) although we did do a good job on marking their playmakers.

Bye this week then we finish off the round against Army at home and hopefully our second win for the season.

cheers mate! i can quite easily say that we pulled one of our top performances out against Stokes Valley, even so it was a bloody hard game. Blows open 14A for the top 2 now! Exciting times, i haven't looked at the table but from memory 3 teams on the same amount at the top with Eastbourne pretty bloody close, one point or something? Lets hope we play this weekend!! F*cking weather

doesn't get much closer than this:

P W D L GF GA Pts
Karori Sealads 11 8 2 1 36 5 26
SV Destroyers 11 8 2 1 42 18 26
Uni Cycles 11 8 2 1 48 28 26
Eastbourne 11 8 1 2 38 14 25
...

p.s. personally, i think teams on equal points should be ordered
according to GF rather than goal difference

But goal difference is the best way to determine the overall best team, not just the amount scored.

A teams defence can be just as important as the attack.

Hows Slayers looking for player numbers?

A mini comp between the bottom 4 from each table looks pretty even on stats...pretty sure the top has precedence though.

Wishful thinking perhaps!

Slayers actually had subs last week, but it's easier for home games. No way I am missing this weeks game thats for sure!!!!

We're to scared to dig that paddock up, some of us believe Hoffa may still be buried there.
